Best setup for me?

semi-related to my other thread with the problems I've been having with my aspire zelos... I'm starting to think about getting a new setup but I'm overwhelmed by the vast selection and am hoping y'all can impart your wisdom on me!

Things I like/want would be, roughly in order of importance:
The general size and shape and appearance of the aspire zelos (small box 75 watts, with the little screen, clean looking)
DTL vaping, lots of air flow (50/50 salt nix at 10-11watts)
coils that last more than a few days
Decent flavour and vapour
User friendly / minimal pieces and futzing

No specific budget.

Is there any magic answer to this or is it more trial and error?

My friend uses one of these.

It is more for MTL but you could get a nice DTL tank. The mod is amazing. and the battery lasts for days and days. and the coil in the tank seems to be immortal.

Hi and welcome. You probably don't need another mod, unless you just want one. A new tank will probably get you moving if you don't like the Nauti 2. I like to recommend something in the Kanger Subtank line for beginners as the tank(s) have great adjustability as regards airflow, and a wide variety of coils to suit different vaping styles are available. Take a look at either a Subtank Mini or a Subtank Plus. Be aware the Plus is a 25mm diameter tank and may overhang your mod a bit. Maybe not, I don't really know as I don't have one, but I wanted to mention it in case the appearance would bother you. You may or may not stick with the Subtank forever-- some people love it all hollow-- but it's a good unit to help you figure out exactly what you want in a tank before dropping serious coin on a top-drawer unit.

The problem answering this question is that if you ask 10 different people you'll more likely get 10 different answers, because there is so much out there to choose from. Best bet is to do some research, talk to people find out what they use and like then try to make an informed decision.

I just ordered a Smoktech SMOK GX2/4 350W box mod and the Ammit Dual Coil RTA Rebuildable Tank. The reviews were good, I like the looks and power it has and quite a few others like it's performance. So I pulled the trigger.

It mostly comes down to your personal preference and finding a reputable dealer.

Right now I'm using a Kanger subbox with a Magma dripper. I also have a couple of Provari and a number of Kayfum tanks. I'm usually a MTL vaper.

You've got the first part partially done - making a list of things you want in your vape gear.

Are you a mouth to lung or Direct to lung vaper?
Do you like box mods or round pen/cigar shaped ones?
Have you ever thought about building your own coils?
How is your budget? How much are you willing to put into vaping?
Is cessation of analog cigarettes your ultimate goal?
Do you at one point want to stop both vaping and smoking?

And it doesn't end there. Having a decent device is only half the equation - Then you have to find a juice that you like and will suit your gear. Most juices will go well with a majority of mods out there. If it's and adjustable voltage or adjustable wattage you can usually find the sweet spot for your juice without too much trouble.

For the past 5 years, I've been using one juice company Heather's Heavenly Vapes. I've tried numerous other juices and none have satisfied me the way HHV has. I love the options they give you in flavor, nicotine levels, PG/VG blend and bottle sizes. They have tons of flavors to chose from as well, plus their juice is very clean burning very little gunk build up. So your coils will have a longer life.

I usually go for the Naturally Extracted Tobacco juices, but their fruit and dessert juices are good too. I add extra flavor drops as my tongue is still not over the damage caused by smoking. I go 80/20 or 70/30 PG/VG at 18mg nic.

The answer is easy.

Don't get a new kit, get a new tank.

There's nothing wrong with a 50w mod.

Now, you're going to need a spare (in fairness), so maybe get something higher up the food chain and keep the Zelos for spare, or something more basic and do it the other way around.

Is the kanger guy compatible with any non-sub-ohm coil? I don't know exactly what that means but I know my favourite liquid is not supposed to be used in a subohm.

Oh, my word, yes. That's why I recommend them. A very wide selection. Just a quick peek at their website ( kangeronline.com ) shows .5Ω ceramic; .5Ω and 1.2Ω Stainless Steel/Organic Cotton coils, suitable for wattage or temp control modes; a set of Kanthal coils (unstated ohms) with Clapton wire; some .15Ω Ni200 coils for Temp Control; and they have an RBA deck that fits as well, so you can build your own coils to suit. If you wish to vape +Ω at 9-11 watts, as you say, try the SSOC coils in 1.2Ω. Should be perfect in that wattage range. Note also if you want better vapor production, your favorite liquid is probably available in lower nic concentrations for subhm use; or in 0nic and you can mix it down by volume yourself (a bottle of 12mg plus a bottle of 0mg equals two bottles of 6mg and so forth.)

Oh, I agree on the fact that you need to get a (regulated) mod that works for you. I actually enjoy having the Steampunk 120 tesla Nano, I like the weight, it's one of the best, most consistent mods I have, I never get dry hits or leaking with that sucker. That said, once I decided to purchase (my IPV 5 was fine, I just couldn't see buying 2 of the same mod, and I'm glad I got it. It has many of the higher end mod functions and I like them (usually, this morning I was having trouble I turned off the mod, and was deeply dismayed until I figured it out, heh). But I figued it out.

That said, everyone's going to have different suggestions to help you figure things out. There are plenty of great mods out there, and just read up and post questions, there's no reason not to have a mod at this point, if you want them. If you want DL, you may need one, depending on what tank you settle on, if it winds up not being the Nautilus 2, so best of luck, and you don't have to have leakage though I can understand how annoying that can be.

Tanks-I would check out:
The Tron-S, with the CLR coils,the EHpro Kayfun Lite V2, Kayfun V5, and the Subtank Mini with the RBA/purch option.
If you want to save money, might want to watch a few vids on coil rebuilding and practice on a Magma RDA (simple singled coil build platform w/ great taste). Coils are nothing but wire and wick on a RDA. If you can bend a paperclip, you can build a coil.
