mt take on this is this:

they see that almost every gastation and convenience store are selling many brands of ecigs, and to make sure that eventually they dont lose more sales to ecigs that they need to get into the game and thats exactly what they did,and why start form scratch when its cheaper to buy a established ecig company already.

smart business, how this effects us all is not known yet but the fda will get involved again becuase its becoming mainstream.

congrats to bluecig.

Hmmmmm.... Could be good because there *could* be American production and big tobacco can afford R&D... It'd make jobs, so politicians could get behind it. On the other hand, it also means we'll be more "visible" and therefore more vulnerable to stupidity. It's bad enough as it is. And the prices might go up.

Ugh, I'm not sure about this. If you think of it from the angle of a person who's a smoker but is looking into e-cigs and they have always been taught about how bad cigarettes are for you, how will they feel about an e-cig that's marketed by a cigarette producer?

People see Big Tobacco (BT) as an evil thing that is trying to kill you. And, generally speaking, they are. So, I don't think that having a BT label on an e-cig is going to help its reputation. They might see it as just another way for BT to get them to buy products that are probably as bad as cigarettes, regardless of the research.

I could see this being a good thing, too. From my perspective as a longish time vaper (1 year and change), I can see the opportunity for more funding for research, more awareness, a likelier chance that the FDA will approve and so on. But that's not likely to be the way many other people who aren't experienced with this stuff are going to see it.

I dunno, we'll see.

true but thats a whole other issue initself. fda's main concern was nicotine, if there was no nic in ejuice form its conception the fda wouldnt have gotten into it as fast as they did.

the flavorings used in many ejuices are the same ones used in foods at bakeries.
just making conversation, dont hold to me to anything.lol

I think its just better that they don't get into it at all. I wouldn't mind if they actually set reasonable guidelines for e-liquid safety, tested all brands and flavors, and made test results public. But there is little chance of that happening without charging companies tons of money for testing and taxing the hell out of it.

I just hope we get some warning when it comes down so I can stock up on DIY supplies. Already have a fairly large bottle of nic in the freezer and don't want to buy more unless I see it's going to become necessary. Or I should say, when I see it's going to become necessary. Everything else should be pretty safe... pg and vg can be bought locally, like Chris said the flavorings are for food so I can't see how they can include them. Not sure about the cartos and pvs though... aren't they trying to include them as nic delivery devices even though you can use them without nic?

they lost that ability in supreme court, if that was the case they could go after herbal vaporizers, there is nothing on a ecig they should be able to have control over except juice with nic, anyone with a little skill or even a weekend to kill could build there own box mod, they cant stop that, and anyone with a little time and patience can build a dripping atomizer and to the fda the ones tey are looking at are the ones that look like cigarettes.

Amen brother! That plays no small part in my recent modding frenzy.

And just a shameless plug for gotvapes, if you want to start modding attys/cartos/tanks/clearos, fluxomizers make the perfect raw material :)

The good news is nic in VG or PG will last quite a long time in the freezer, so you'll probably have ample warning to load up if/when the time comes

I'm wondering if this will spawn a sub culture of basement nicotine extractors (a small culture, as its very labor intensive) and black market sales
