Please don't throw stones. This is a valid and serious question

All the information, quotes, updates on the FDA and everything else is info I can only find on that ECF site. If I run a search, I can't find any newspaper articles written about this anywhere outside of this Bill Godshall/ECF website.

I am now wondering if the info on this Godshall site is real, if the info on this ECF site is real. The articles on this site quote sources in a vague way, I do a web search to find these sources outside of the info and quotes on ECF, or Bill Godshall's site, and can't find any.

Can someone post some links to this material about ban/etc , any news that is not found ONLY on the ECF site?

An excellent 5 minute Daily Planet tv interview with Carl Phillips on e-cigarettes is at:
Daily Planet : May 05, 2009

Regarding note posted by seminolewind, I don't know what website of mine he/she is referring to. My old website smokefree.net has been phased out most of its operations, and I haven't posted on it since October.

And I don't know what ECF website he/she is referring to.

Now I see what seminolewind is referring to.

I don't know how the Tobaccofree.org website began appearing below my name and my organization's name (Smokefree Pennsylvania) when I post notes on this blog, but I'm not affiliated with Tobaccofree.org, which is the website for Patrick Reynolds (RJ Reynolds' grandson), who is a friend and smokefree advocacy colleague.

BTW Patrick also supports e-cigarettes and other smokefree nicotine alternatives for smokers.

LOL - where have you been? Start with the FDA letter that's been reprinted right here since April 2nd (there are other, similar letters from months before that too):

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-important-email-fda-supplier.html#post173081

And how about Senator Lautenberg's press release when he asked the FDA to ban ecigs:

Senator Frank R. Lautenberg

And the big "health" groups coming out in support of that ban request:

Latest Press - American Lung Association site

And Dr. Siegel's reporting and commentary on an FDA spokesperson's interview on NPR, and on their anti-ecig stance in general:

The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: FDA Suggests that Electronic Cigarettes are No Safer than Conventional Ones

And there is the litigation that Smoking Everywhere was forced to initiate in light of all their stock being seized by customs:

http://ronbenvenisti.com/SEFDA1.pdf

And if you want "mainstream" news sources - I guess you'd want to see something from the US News and World Report:

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/risky-business/2009/04/16/possible-e-cigarette-ban.html

I could go on and on, but there are innumerable references in the press concerning the FDA position that ecigs are illegal to market in in the US because they are unapproved "new drug devices", many of them right here in this very sub-forum, going back months.

I guess I don't really get what you are suspecting?

Really great interview. I only object to the last screen about propylene glycol concerns by Health Canada. Rubbish. Remind them that PG is used in medicines designed to be inhaled, in addition to antifreeze and mouthwash. It's a versatile, and safe, chemical. Thanks for posting this, Bill.[/quote

My brother has asthma and PG is one of the ingredients in his medication that he uses in his nebulizer. He asked his doctor about it and was told that it is a "carrier" for the medicine and is not only safe but helps the medication work better.

I wish it would silence them, NicoNut. Yvilla laid it out well. But there are too many people here beating their own chests to hear the sounds of their thumps. Threads are degenerating into anti-whatever-you-got trash. What a shame. Once, this was a forum for the exchange of information about e-smoking, not how to overthrow the government rants from people who slept through Civics in high school.

Great video!!

So here we have a researcher puffing on an eCig with 0 nicotine, telling us the product so obviously safer than a cigarette, that it's almost laughable to even need to study them.

He says that the only regulation needed, would be the normal quality control that any company that wished to remain in business would do under normal production. He warns us of posers knocking off the products that might not have these standards, and of the need to insure people are getting real products.

He then says in a matter of fact tone, that nicotine in this form presents a similar danger to caffine, and that some people who enjoyed nicotine and quit, may be lured back to nicotine because there is a safer delivery system.

Looks like techno magic to me.

Very true. Compared to water-based nebulizers, PG based nebulizers deliver more medicine per use.

@Bob, I know you (and many of the other forum members) know this, but figured it's worth mentioning ;)

In addition to the above, and in addition to many foods and cosmetics, it's also used in injectible drugs.
Pharmaceutical
Propylene Glycol USP/EP (PG USP/EP)

It also used to be commonly used in soda pop. Some brands stopped using it because of fearmongering in the early 80's about there being antifreeze in soda pop. *rolls eyes*. Some of the same sort of fear mongering we're seeing now with PG and ecigs, imho.

As for the article, thought it was good, overall, except for that bit from health canada at the end. Shame they didnt cover the safety of PG aspect during the discussion (such as mentioning that it's widely used in medicines that are meant to be taken orally, via injection, and inhalation)
