The thing about Fridays is that people wait til late in the day to submit stuff then expect it to be done for them when they come back on Monday - wrong answer
You submit late on Friday it don't get started til Monday
That's users for you. No respect for tech-types.

Then there's always the guy that thinks he's a computer expert and won't believe it when you tell him he can't do something and needs to change it.

I'm knowledgeable in most areas but only have a few that I'm the expert in - IT is has too many branches these days.

I fully understand. I always say I'm a jack of all trades, but a master of none. It makes it problematic in the workforce, however, since I'm usually up against specialists... :(

They
There's nothing funny about it. They got a paper or took a class or know the buzzwords... but when something comes along outside their carefully groomed training, they are at a complete loss.

They don't like to listen to experience either. Been lots of time when we had stuff go down that we would tell them what to do as the same thing happened back when and this is what fixed it - of course it's a new crew and they have to spend massive time trying everything else before doing the 10 min fix that the non-expert told them to do. Have actually had a couple folks come to me for issues that were outside my area but they remembered me from others times that I had the fix for some of the oddball stuff.

That's why I consider IT to be part art-form: often the solution can be found in the strange gray-area between systems or the interface between person and machine.
