First wood mod I've tried and will be the last if I don't get some tools. Making it with a hand saw and a Dremel sucks.

Finish is Boiled Linseed Oil to keep it natural, Chip is from Dimension Engineering, and atty is a modded 801. Lid closure is a temp until the magnets I ordered get here. The biggest challenge was making sure the battery connector for the 801 was substantial and not break off due to stress. The two brass washers and juice catcher provide a lot of support so it should be fine.

It was a fun build working with wood for the first time; but I'm serious about the tools. It's too much work w/o them. When I do, the next will be Cedar and one from some Cherry I have stored away.

Parallex2, awesome job! I have decided to only work with wood from now on. I am finishing up two teak wood boxes at the moment. Just a straight 5v LDO setup. Have been eyeing that chip from Dimension Engineering for a while as well. I have been thinking about making my next one with an RCA connector. I plan to use it for a Genesis (via Raidy's design) setup. I figure having VV when using homemade atty's with varying resistance is key to saving myself some headaches.

Did you add a knob to the bottom for the pot? Or does the chip come like that?

I stole it off a RS poteniometer. Since the "wheel" has to go on the bottom of the box I wanted something thin so I can stand it up w/o a problem. 1/2 turn of the wheel = .2 adjustment

I'll have to look up the chip number...it's from Dimension Engineering. Will post when I locate the info

Thanks for the kind words...I really appreciate it.

Hopefully, I can answer the open questions:

Yes, 16340 batteries. I built it for the AW brand because they are consistant in the length of each battery. Others vary way too much.

The chip number is DE-SWADJ3

The "juice catcher" is a finishing washer from any hardware store. I don't remember whether it was a #12 or #14 size.

Excellent job on the wood working and with just minimum tools, can't wait to see your work with some tools. Very nice mod! In the process of getting an ever cools parts together and will be attempting a mahogany box for it, have the tools so hope it will come out half as nice as the job you did there. Love the black walnut, but have mahogany scrap left over from a cradle from a few years back.
