Well, I drilled the hole to let the light shine into and through the bead brighter. Plus, on the black edged one, that was a black stealth cap, no light at all would have been able to get through. I say drilled, but what I really did was poke the tip of an exacto knife blade in the center of the ash cap and start turning, the plastic is soft and 'drills' out easily. I just wanted to make the ash cap into a base to hold the bead so I didn't want it as thick as it was on the rounded surface.

Have fun, and I will be watching to see a photo of your creation!! ;)

Thanks for the tip about the exacto blade. I have lots of ash caps, saved them when I put on the diamond end caps.....so I may also try a small bit in my cordless drill too and see which is easier. I'm also wondering if a nail punch would work.

I'm really anxious to try this but probably won't go to JoAnn's till the weekend, after my deposits hit the bank. I know I'll see other things I want to pick up.

I've considered buying some stickers to wrap around my X2s. Some of the ones I've been looking at:

Ornate Chinese Year of the Dragon Stickers from Zazzle.com

Yin Yang Dragons, yellow and black Sticker from Zazzle.com

Chinese Tribal Mythology Legend Dragon Black White Square Stickers from Zazzle.com

Size is an issue, of course. Wrapping these around an X2, there is likely to be too much overlap, and if I choose the 1.5" option, it'll be too small.

Others I like:

(anyone seeing a pattern yet?)

This is an extremely cheap attempt at getting the dragon patterns onto my volts, but it gives a nice preview of what they would look like if I put more time into them.

These are just printed on paper and taped on. The lack of gloss is noticeable, and the back side of the batteries are obviously taped. I'm trying to come up with ideas on how to make them more elegant. Using a high gloss paper would probably help.

Wow, really nice! Maybe call Kinko's or a similar print shop and ask about printing your images on some type of adhesive backed vinyl type material? I'm sure they have stickers available, not too sure about the quality though.

FYI, they do make adhesive-backed vinyl for inkjet printers. Just google "inkjet vinyl" and you'll get a bunch of hits. Papillo is the most popular brand. You might also want to use an overlaminate (clear adhesive vinyl or spray) with these too, for more durability. Or you can try a sign making shop that prints on vinyl.

Those dragons are pretty! I'm into them too!:)
The diameter of the x2 would be around 1.75" so depending on how you use those stickers...the "small" might be cool too! I like the Yin Yang one. :)

I've tried the adhesive papers for inkjet printers, but one little bit of nicquid and the color runs. So --- I actually tried putting clear nail polish on top of the printed sticker. The nicquid STILL managed to get in there after awhile.

The dragons are gorgeous!!
That's why you would need the real overlaminate stuff (like Mactac Colorguard film). Clear nail polish has never worked for me at protecting stuff. Nice avi! :)

I pulled off one of the black carto covers last night when having a moment of intense OCD and then immediately after, felt so empty inside. So I created a homemade carto cover from a gay rights Obama sticker I got in a grab bag from a ska show (how that's ska-related, I have no idea). Turned out pretty alright.

I thought it'd be classy to use this carto on my ~*new rainbow battery*~, haha.

The other day I lost the center of my diamond tip. After panicking I started looking around and found a pink rhinestone that fit. I love it. When it light up it is pink with a small white outer ring.

I'm trying to figure out how to post a picture but it looks like I will have to get on my computer instead of my iPad.
