one thing kept going through my mind while reading this thread...I have worked with electronics (tube amplifiers) as a hobby for many years, also R/C model aircraft, etc. I always carefully designed my stuff for long and reliable life and always followed the old rule to never exceed 70% of rated capacity of any device. The current ratings on batteries are most likely design center maximums and good practice dictates staying below that rating. That doesn't mean they can't be approached or maybe even be exceeded, but at some point it becomes a crap shoot. I'm sure there are many ways to get a desired result in vapor production with coil design, airflow, air chamber configuration, liquid, wick, etc. without exceeding the golden rule of thumb.

The below batteries are suggested for sub-ohm coils down to 0.8 ohm. Do not go below this resistance with these batteries:

AW IMR
18650 2000mah 10Amp CDR
18490 (1100mah) 8.8A (16.5A?)
18350 (700mah) 6A

Panasonic or Orbtronic hybrid
CGR18650CH (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
NCR18650PF (LiNiCOMnO2) INR/ICR/IMR Hybrid 2900mAh 10A
NCR18650PD (LiNiCoAl) 2900mAh 10A

Samsung hybrid (LiNiCoMnP)
INR18650-22P 2200mAh 10A

Sony
us18650v3 IMR 2250mAh 10A

EH IMR
18650 2000 mAh 16A
18500 1100 mAh 8.8A
18350 800 mAh 6.4A

Efest IMR
18650 (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
18650 2000mAh 10A
18490 1100mah 8.8A
18350 800mah 6.4A

For sub ohm builds below 0.8 ohm, use only the following batteries:

AW IMR
18650 1600mah 24A

MNKE IMR
18650 1500mah 20A

Orbtronic
18650 SX22 (hybrid) 2000mAh 22A

Samsung hybrid
INR18650-20R 2000mah 22A

Sanyo hybrid
UR18650EX 2000mAh 20A

Sony
us18650vct3 (hybrid) 1600mAh 30A

EH IMR
18650 2000 mAh 16A
18650 1500 mAh 22A

Efest IMR
18650 1600mAh 30A

The below mod batteries short circuited and went into thermal runaway. DO NOT attempt to pull more amps from your battery than they were designed to give.

So I will get into this wonderful discussion because everyone here seems sensible. I don't enjoy any more than one coil... tried dual and more but still got back to single coil. I don't really coil more than 0.8 and don't go below 0.6, I have tried micro/nano/dragon/poop in diaper and about ever other coil and still prefer a regular 3/4 wrap with yarn or cotton ball. I do have multiple setups and one is a nano dragon/poop in diaper but modded the top cap to work with the design and get great results.

I have found that all are great options depending on what you are trying to achieve with vaping, I stick to what I like and believe it or not it is only because I like to conserve battery life- thats it honestly... I worked for Interstate batteries for a long time and have been trained in the art of batteries and could go on and on but it has been covered. bottom line that the more I stress the batts the lower the life span, big deal as they are cheap for great batts. so I go for longer life out of them even thou I have 20+ batts lol. out of all the coils I have built dang near all the same for the most part but each has little advantages and disadvantages.....If you enjoy it do it, if not keep trying till you find your thing! I'm just glad people care enough not to let some ones first vape be a mech/rda on 0.5 ohm build when they need to be on a ego/vivi or what have you. even thou I am above the median for knowing batts and electronics I am still thankful I started small and within a month moved to vv/vw then straight to mech/rba....it was a time needed to study about what I was capable of doing safely. Vape on my friends!

Dual Micro-coils on an RSST, 0.6ohms, with pure organic cotton wick. I was hoping for around .8 but eh, still within the AW IMR's Amp limits. Air hole drilled out to 5/64s. very wide open for me, I prefer tighter draw. I find doing lung hits too hard, but when I do with this one it makes huge clouds.

I still prefer my ProTank 2 on an eGo-C Twist LOL. Usually use a Vamo V3 with a ProTank 2, or Carto-Tank. And I just ordered the new Futura DNA20 Mod and a Russian 91% which will most likely become my daily driver.
