wow.. this is going to be amazing to see how it plays out... i definitely will purchase several if not a "5 pack"...

also some things to consider.... will either of you be using "dimensional" (3d) glass (not sure the technical name for the technique but thats what is commonly reffered to as).. and would either of you consider working out a "side car" set up that would feed the vapor through a bit of water lil a "pocket bubbler" i dont know the difficulty behind doing this at such a small scale.. but judging by some of the photos by shatner.. i think you are prolly capable.

also ive been told recently that a trend in the glass blowing field is to use a glass material that is on the space shuttles windows? forget its name.. but i can attest to its durability... ive personally dropped this glass onto concrete/pavement on several occasion (while the glass was hot) and it has not fractured in the least.

Ive been a fan of glass for years... and have wanted a custom blown chess set for going on 10 years just never been able to find a blower. that being said if either of you would be intrested in a project as such.. pm me.

is it safe to assume we will be updated as soon as these glass drip tips go retail? and how will we purchase them, directly or will there be a vendor supplying them?

These sound really great and I can't wait to see them. How about your registering as a supplier if this works out? No offense but the PIF thread is impossible to get anything on unless you sit at the computer poised to grab it all day long. I have to work unfortunately.

I have no intentions of registering as a supplier. I like the little community I hang out in and couldn't be there if I were to become a supplier. Not to mention, I'm not really taking any more orders nor seeking other venues to sell my glass. I'm a pipe maker. Like big bubblers with crazy pattern work. I don't really have the time to make a bunch of these. I can make some, sure. But you wont see 100s coming from my shop. I'm just one man with an apprentice that slows me down even more.

Sorry, I need a vacation.

Ugh... My biggest pet peeve is spreading misinformation about glass. I'm not annoyed at you, don't worry. It just bugs the heck outta me that people do this. You know where it comes from? No one knows how it's done. There's a huge Glass Curtain when it comes to this artform.

Sorry to say, but you're terribly misinformed on this "new glass". Pipers and other sculpters use borosilicate (boro), with which the brand Pyrex made it famous. Also called 'Hard Glass". All the strength comes from skills needed to make sure your color is melted into the clear all the way. That there are no acute angles and that it is annealed in the kiln properly. You can bounce quality made glass (spoon pipes) on a concrete floor and it won't break. Just bounce a few times. Nothing special, just boro

"3d glass"? I think you mean "inside out". That's where the glassblower flares a tube and draws on the inside. Once it's arted up the bell is closed and the color melted into the clear. I guess it could be called '3d'. The "color change" is either silver or gold fume, or both.

And yes, I've already thought about bubbler drip tips. It would be a very complicated seal different than a normal bubbler that, honestly, I've never tried. I'm sure I could do it with enough practice.

Also, I live in Houston, TX. Where in the summer the temp is 100+ in the shade with 80-99% humidity. I shut the shop down for the summer as I've stretched myself thin one day and got heat stroke. Dr. said once you have it you're very susceptible to get it again and to not blow glass during summer months. So here in a few weeks I will be shutting down. I re-open my shop in late October, early November.

But y'all have to remember that I can't sell them on here. I'd love to, but I have no interest in being a vendor/manufacturer/whatever. Just an artist on a e-cig forum.

Figures as much.. To be honest, the only information i have to go on regarding this topic is what my local glass vendor tells me.. (personal expierence of dropping my glass piece from the back of a CBR 600 while it was hot (the glass) and not so much as a scratch was true though...)

Ill also point out that this local glass vendor is the same guy that told sold me my first e-cig kit.. the "smoking everywhere".. and he sold it good too... until i got home and researched his claims.. then i was upset i was out a hundred bucks and ordered a 510 Mega kit...

before i moved to this area.. i bought all my glass since i was 15 years old (yea yea, i know..) from the same lady.. and all her glass was hand blown by a friend of hers... i really miss her.

So, that being said.. thanks for informing me/correcting me.. i would hate to speak on a subject and be dead ... wrong...

back on track... if you EVER! figure out the bubbler side car (510 fitting) and make two of them... please remember me.. in addition, i got a custom chess set project for a glass blower thats interested too...

Edited: Seeing as shatner doesn't want to go the vendor route.. i removed my line requesting purchase....

I think you peoples want something like this ...
VaporWhip Mouthpiece: Got Vape?

I have a mouthpiece and some vapourwhip tubing that I use with my SB and cartos. It is the nutz :)
The tubing fits nicely over a cartomiser for lovely cool vape.

Yep, that's for 'herbal' vapes. It's a glass tip that fits on the end of a "whip" or a silicone tube. The silicone tube, on the other end fits a 'ground glass fitting' which plugs into the heating element.

No worries, man. There's just not many glassblowers, especially pipers, who invite people to their shop, unless it's another blower. There's such a large curtain and it really hinders the art. I'm hope I didn't offend you in my post, I'm just trying to re-inform.

Dropped from a 600CBR? Was it moving? Darn.

Oh, and never believe a vendor about glass. They know as much as a layman on this subject. They're out to make a buck-and a big one, they mark stuff up as much as 300%. They'll say just about anything to make a sale.

Doesn't glass transfer heat really well? won't you burn your lips on these?

Quite the opposite. Glass, at least borosilicate, is insulating.

Look at the pics of me blowing glass with an oxy/propane torch. I'm holding a glass tube(blowtube) and a rod(punty) with molten glass between the two. They don't even get warm, except for a little flame splash.

Au contraire, mon frere. Glass is an excellent conductor of heat. Don't confuse glass's property of thermal expansion with it's thermal coefficient. That is why we have an air or inert gas space between window panes in modern houses. The inside of your water heater is glass-lined - and not as an insulator. Many cooking utensils are made of glass (and I'll never know why - crash, tinkle, tinkle).
Can't tell if the window you're looking through is glass or plastic? Touch it on a cool day.
If it's cool to the touch, it sucked the heat out of your hand that fast. Plastic will not.

I may have owned a Vapor Brothers vaporizer back in the day. Good times. :)

I invite you to come to my shop and touch a rod of glass that's been in a 5,000* flame, 3 inches down the rod from the molten glass. It's cool. I realize you're in PA, but if you're ever in Houston, come on by.

It may not insulate well if it's thin, like a window pane. But when it's a solid chunk of boro, it insulates, or atleast the heat doesn't travel down a rod, or thin tube. Not to sound like an ..., but I work with hot glass everyday for at least 6 hours.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these. Like many others on here, I've purchased a lot of glass products before.

Shatner, do you know if vaper will behave the same way as smoke does for color changing? I would think the answer is no, since there isn't resin from vapor like their is from.. err... tobacco...

Ha! Well put! :vapor:

Oh my god YES! I'm guessing these Vapor Whip tips don't fit on a 510 atty? :glare:

I have been wanting a clear cart so I can see what is going on. Believe it or not I have been a pipe smoker using American Spirits for 8 years and I always used nice glass bubblers. I have been so used to being able to see the smoke and what is going on, I don't like the lack of control in all of these non-see through carts/attys.

It's about time we start manufacturing some of this stuff in our own country! I would easily pay 30$ for a glass cart! If you treat it right, it WILL last forever.

The fears people have about the glass getting too hot are unfounded. Yeah it can get hot if you use it too much, so does the darn plastic! (But the glass isn't going to out-gas!)

Oh please please please I hope we can get class carts sometime SOON!
