I've seen a lot of gripes about Blu. I've never checked out their website....

Looks like a supermini, a 401 or something similar. Short btty life, but at least it seems to come with a PCC of sorts. Yeah, you might want to invest in something else. Odds are 90% that a local storefront stocks only higher priced and lower quality models.

Cignot ships waaaaay fast. Order tonight, and you've got a good chance of seeing it Saturday, no kidding. Vicki is great. She's got a 510 super-basic starter for 35 bucks (no pcc tho, bummer with the 510's btty life). Might get you by, and you'll get it pronto. My second kit was her $65 no box w/ pcc, after having been horribly ripped off by another company... and I've never regretted the 510.

I deal with cignot.com and they are tops! It only takes me 4 days to get an order. Vicki is super, like having a friend you've never met. The quality of their products and their turn around time is far above standard. They sent me some extra cards as I told them I gave one of their cards to my doctor, and other folks. They always add a nice hand written note. They are very encouraging as well! :) Good luck!

Well guys, I'm back. Two full days of vaping and I have yet to touch an analog since I got my blu. With a little trial and error it's been working quite well for me. There are a few things about it that have me wanting to upgrade already though. First and foremost is the battery. One is working great, but the other... Ehhh. It kind of works when it wants to. It won't turn on when I inhale half the time, or it'll cut off midway through a drag. The first night I was driving to work and it wouldn't shut off after a drag. I got it off in time to save the atty, but it spooked me a bit. Like I said though, the other battery is fine, and after a full charge, the problem battery works a bit better and haven't had the problem since. Things I like about the blu:

1. Compact size.
2. Auto battery
3. Nice PCC. Plenty of room for spare carts, spare atty, and spare battery. Plus it charges in my pocket.

The only thing I don't really like about the blu is the erratic battery, poor battery life, and the PCC battery not shutting down after a charge, but just draining the battery instead. If someone could suggest a compact automatic vaporizer that would solve these problems I'm sold. I don't want anything much bigger than an analog because my work requires me to carry a lot of equipment on me, so the smaller the better. Also, anything that actually looks like a analog is a must. I'm finding it's a mental thing with me. The analog look helps me imagine I'm actually smoking one.

Well Wolferizer, I was just waiting and watching this thread for when you would finally see the light and realize what people were trying to tell you from the beginning. Seems you are now familiar with the dying battery, the sudden "stuck on" power while driving, how the battery seems to discharge if you don't unplug the unit after hitting the charged mark etc.

First off, let me tell you that I have been vaping for over 3 years now ever since NoJoy came out with their first models. Soon after that I tried many different NoJoy models, smokingeverywhere, something called the "great white", blu, volcano as well as many other ecigs that amazon.com used to sell.

Back then there was not much out there to compare them to, you were stuck just trying them all as not much info was available. I really wanted to quit badly so I tried as many as I could and wasted thousands of dollars till I finally gave up. Poor battery life, batteries stuck on, batteries that could not fire, filling carts that held only a few drops etc all drove me to the brink of insanity. I kept trying and trying as different companies popped up, continued to waste hundreds per week buying up any and every "new and improved" models yet they all failed to perform.

Fast forward to March of 2010, bought an authentic Joye 510 manual mega kit from electronicstix and the rest was history. After being analog free for over a month I bought a Precious-L mod and after that my only worries were finding good liquids and stocking up on cartomizers. Today I have 5 Ego kits to lend out to friends and family as well as a few Hello016 batteries. Since I cannot live without my Precious, the next best thing to lend out were the Ego and Hello016 kits and since then I have converted many people to the pleasure of ecigs.

That is why I stated that with all the info available in today's day age, there is no reason a newbie has to go through the trials of spending money unnecessarily on overpriced low quality products as many of us long time users have already done. The main purpose of these forums was to educate and share experiences, may as well make the most of it as there is tons of valuable information available here.

I don't post much here but I am a long time lurker, only signed up because I could not see some pics:D that are for members only. I refrained from posting for a long time due to fear of getting banned because of the long list of rules here. Seen many people get banned just for stating an opinion or wording something wrong, hope I don't;).

Aloha, Keith

Wolferizer,
please tell me that you are going to at least get the Hello016 with 1300mah or something similar. There is nothing wrong with the Ego kits but even that has become last weeks news. Research the Hello016 1300mah and I think you will agree that it is the best bang for the buck available now unless you want to spend more and start looking into big battery mods. The best I can do is offer advice from experience, the rest is up to you.

PS, don't be foolish enough to buy one with automatic batteries again, make sure they are manual types so you can eliminate some future frustrations.

Aloha, Keith

Well my 510 won't be here till mid week, but so far, admittedly after only 2 days, I have enjoyed the Blu, just not the flavor carts. Battery life is weak, but from what I understand all the mini's are like that.

As far as poor vape, when it seems like the cart is empty I just pull out the filler, push the inner cart back in, then just set the filler on top of that and push the atty back in. Great vapor after that.

Overall I'm glad I got the Blu. It lead me here and to order the 510. :)

I decided on a Joye 510 mini manual starter kit with PCC. My biggest problems with the blu are the erratic batteries and wanting a tad bit more vapor. Battery life isn't too big of a deal since I can always get a passthrough for sitting at home, and the PCC should be more than enough for my needs while I'm out. I looked at the ego, screwdriver, precious, ect. and they all seemed like complete overkill as far as what I'm looking for, so the 510 should fit my needs for quite awhile. I already see this becoming a hobby though, so a year from now who knows how my tastes will evolve. Think I'll still hold onto my blu for the time being. It might come in handy in a pinch. Also, yes, the PCC has a cut-out to keep the battery button happy. :D

You'll be very pleased with how much better manual's perform. And also how the 510 in general performs!

Not all of us need or want big batteries or mods - I don't. Still using my stock mini's, and perfectly happy with it. I don't like high-voltage, and like you said, with a pass-thru and a PCC, some of us don't need more battery life. For some us, the big PV's are overkill, and stay that way, even once we've been vaping a while.

You don't need to get some giant e-cig to be happy with it. Just do what works for you.

I started with a Blu because someone told me about them and thought I'd try it not knowing about ECF. They worked ok and it got me into vaping and have since moved on to a Magma which I love. Just got 2 manual batts and love it even more than the autos although the autos work very well also. But for Blu, I did end up replacing filler with blue foam and use FSUSA juice and it worked a lot better than stock that's for sure. Just doesn't last as long as I'd like. But if it wasn't for Blu I wouldn't have stopped smoking altogether. I quit 7-28-2010 and don't miss it whatsoever. :D

I really was curious and got a great deal on the forum for the Blu. I was pleasantly surprised. Since I already knew the battery life was not great, that was not a concern. All in all, when I want something that tastes good, creates good vapor, and has a decent throat hit; I can pick up the Blu. As I said, I want it to feel and look somewhat like a real cig. It helps to fool me when I want to avoid the real thing. I know two things: the 510 is good but IMO overrated, and people have unfairly (again IMO)bashed the Blu without knowing anything about it.

Everyone that is defending Blu, or any mini for that matter..... guys you are missing out. I know, I know, when I got my Janty Dura C XL I thought it was all good (and yeh, it kinda was for a while), then got a mod. I know I sound like a dooshy mod pusher. Well maybe I am, but when you see someone enjoying something, and you know of something far better, I don't know what it is, but something inside you compels you to tell the person about the better thing. Ok, I'll stop it, no more mod pitch from me.

Just as a counterpoint-and not just for the blu, the volcano or any other similar device-you may think we're missing out, but some of us aren't. I have no interest in dipping, dripping, making my own liquids (excuse the imagery on that one!), modding, etc. I'm not getting into this to keep an addiction up, I'm using it as a means to an end. Nicotine, whether in an analog or digital is still not good, and I really have no intent on vaping any longer than I have to.

It seems to me that some of the long time vapers do a disservice to the newbs like myself, by launching into all the different models, liquids, mods etc. When I go to a restaurant, I don't want to know how the cook makes my meal, I just want it cooked. I mean no disrespect to anyone, but just throwing my two cents in the ring.

This is very true. I know a vaper who is considered to be very knowledgeable around here, and he doesn't like anything over the standard 3.2v 510's and eGo's. Even the 3.7v Kr8 tastes "fried" to him.

And I myself hate LR's, high voltage, and see no point in mods for my own personal needs.

I'm not "missing out" by not having a mod. I don't want one. I've tried them, and I don't care for them.

I try to just keep it simple for newbies, with a couple tried-and-true models, with a small form factor, and moderate power. This is a good enough solution for most people to quit smoking. If they want to stick with those (as I have), move on to something else, or whatever, they can do that. But the big thing is just to get them started with something that works.

I do get a little involved in the hobby of vaping - I DIY, I do some basic functional/cosmetic mods to my gear, and for the time being, I'm enjoying vaping. But "bigger" is not always "better."

Some of us are perfectly happy with our Toyota's, and don't want a Hummer.
