Hey everybody. So, I tried boiling two of my old pre-filled cartomizers today, but I'm not sure how it worked. The "crackle" inside seems to have been completely rejuvenated, but as of yet I'm still not getting any vapor from it. I didn't put more than say....10-12 drops in, but would the crackle mean that it is in fact working? I just received my first bottle of VG juice today, so I don't want to waste any. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the input. That's probably the cause. I was letting it dry on my window AC for about 7-8 hours. The outside was dry, but it may still be wet deep down. If it is still damp, would trying it out ruin it? I guess just leave it alone overnight and try it again in the morning?

It won't ruin it but it won't produce vapor. I would at least leave it alone for 24-48 hours with the battery end sitting upwards for it to drain.

Make sure you give them a really good blow, and try wadding some paper towel in them like in the video, and let them sit overnight, upside down. They will be almost good as new for a couple rounds of cleaning if you don't let them get dry and burn.

I use this method to clean cartos and it works very well.
I boil them in water for about 15 min. drain and repeat. I usually boil them 3 times to get them really clean, drain them well and blow any excess water out. Then I heat the oven to 250 deg. put the drained cartos in it and leave them in for about 2 hours. If the tap water in your area has a lot of minerals in it I suggest getting distilled water at the store for this. Once when I cleaned mine I noticed a film of minerals deposited on the outside, and can only assume the same deposits were in the filler, these didn't work very well, but this was the only problem I have had.

Update - The carto in question began working well about an hour after I posted this, although I feel the flavor stilll isn't quite as strong as the other carto I filled this morning.

It almost makes me regret ordering some blank cartos last night! I had no idea you could boil them.....I think that tomorrow I'll be boiling up a nice big pot of all of my old ones. Thanks again for all of the advice.

After I boil mine I then blow them out really really good. Depending on how bad I want to use that cartomizer I may go ahead and fill it but I always blow it out completely before filling it. It works for me but I get that watery airy taste when I do fill them while still moist. I also notice first time refilling a clean carto I have to put a lot of juice in.

I may try the oven trick phoenix just suggested, great idea!

I rinse my cartos out under as hot of water as you can stand. I then bring a pot of water to a boil, drop all rinsed cartos in boiling water for 10 minutes. Turn off heat and let sit in the water until I can pull them out without hurting myself. Blow as much water out from both ends re-rinse with hot water and re-boil, same procedures as before. Then i blow as much water out as possible and stand them up in my garage at least overnight (here in Arizona its dry and hot this time of year) and then I refill them when needed.

They're disposable. To me they're like washing out paper towels and reusing them. You sort of can, but they're not like they were when they're new. I use PG juice so mine last a week. At about $1.30-$1.50 a piece it's worth it to have a nice fresh carto.

I'm cheap. I tried every cleaning how-to there is. I have never gotten a great vape from one and in the process wasted tons of juice filling up nasty cartos. I need to get a good vape.

Try it. When you refill, use a juice that you don't care about wasting. To me there is nothing better than a nice fresh new carto. That's what vapings is all about.

I need to settle down and standardize on a go-to carto. Very hard to do when the ECF has sales on all kinds of cool carto gadgets each week :) I'm gonna blame it on my "find my fit" phase. I've had great success with both the Boge RR and LR cartos, some enjoyment out of the Mega eGo Dual Coils, and soon will sample GotVapes' Sapphire tank carto. Hopefully, I'll settle down to a default carto and use the others as the need arises.

Right now, though, I've got 65 juices to go through, and not enough cartos. Using the eGo tank and dripping into the atty opening... and a lot of carto cleaning.
