As for your beautiful Cessna 172 you should be proud [...]
Ahem, that's no Cessna. :D

Nor was that airplane was ever "beautiful" by any stretch of the imagination. Look carefully at the wheel pants; you can see the bondo. In fact, the folks around my local 'drome used to refer to it as the "Sky Pig". I sold it 20 years ago, when I came to the conclusion that if I wasn't going to fly at least 2-3 times a month, I shouldn't be flying at all, and life (a small business and young kids) got in the way of doing so. Still, learning to fly in it and some of the trips I took in it thereafter are at least some of the memories that make me a wealthy soul (apologies to Bob Seger).

Perhaps I should dig up some old photos from my youth and show you what flying a "pig" is all about. One of my first jobs was flying meat and veg (as well as the odd live chicken) to the Bahamas (single pilot ops) which makes the term "flying rubber dog sheet out of Hong Kong" pretty much a dream job.:laugh:

buttoning up a woodie dna install, figured I'd put a few pics here. I now do a lot of testing with these dna40's cause once I seal them up to waterproof all warranties go out the window and since these things are prone to early failure I test and test and test to make sure before sealing it up. I'm using a deans connector at the 510 so I don't have to test with juice and squonking, the chip runs the external rose tank so I can vape through tank fulls without getting any juice in the mod at this point. once the chip is all sealed up then I switch that to the 510 itself but at that point it will already have been fully tested and good to go

this mod is natural ebony with stabilized ebony door and button trim panel. this one is for right handed use so screen is on the opposite side and I made a bit of a different squonk hole on this one for more comfortable squonking :)

now I've already went to 2 home depots looking for black liquid electrical tape and both were out :( can't do this with green or anything else really but I'll put pics up of the sealing and buttoning up when it's done, may do another submersion test on this one too. this is the first mod I've ever built that wasn't for me personally, it's for a friend and I've had it like forever... I suck, that's why I could never do mods for hire but I've got 2 others to finish for 2 other friends, I think I'm way more .... with something that I'm building for someone else... when I build for me I accept whatever cause I could always go and tinker with it again but here I want something that once it goes out remains trouble free forever so indestructible spring loaded 510, testing and testing and then some more testing, and waterproof everything etc, etc... :)

You gotta be kidding, that is absolutely sick Turbo. Just when I thought that you pretty much beat the woodvile horse to death you found yet another way to mod that thing. The picture of the board with those wires standing up is a true work of micro electrosurgery. You Sir are a master, plain and simple. Even if I hated DNA's this would make me look with true admiration

used 2 springs mainly because the silver coated becu springs are awesome battery contacts, never have to clean them at all, I used to do the spring on the neg and a copper upper contact but find that the copper needs attention from time to time, not so with the double silver contacts, and these things have a really thick silver coating so it's not like plated that just rubs off after a while, plus the double springs means anything and everything makes perfect contact, from the shortest flat tops to the tallest button top batteries.
i started doing double springs for the SX chips because if they loose power for even a split second the chip turns off upon repowering and you have to wait for it to go through the power up display then press the button 5 times to turn it back on, so if you bang a mod down on a table the spring can allow a momentary disconnect which is not possible with the double springs. on a dna it's just more for the silver really

the wires stand perfectly straight because I string each individually but then ca glue the wires to each other to keep them in form. I left a small loop at the button connections and the 510 so there is enough room to replace a button or service the 510 if it ever becomes necessary. the battery and the bottle both fit all the way to touching the back wall the way the wiring is positioned here. if the chip ever went bad then just build a new drop in assy like this and swap it out completely

So I gather you won't waterproof this board. Frankly with my meager experience I don't believe you actually need it as I've never had an internal leak. Of course you won't be able to scuba dive and vape with this Woodie but hey you do have that other "Jacque Cousteau" Woodie if you ever get the desire

oh yeah I'll def waterproof this one, prolly do a submersion test and video it for the owner of this mod.

once it's waterproofed to be fully submersible then the occasional getting wet or juice spill is no issue at all really, it's nice to be able to rinse it out in the sink every once in a while too incase you get any juice spillage in the mod. I take my woodie into the shower with me and vape in the shower every day man, I don't want to deal with worrying about getting it wet :)
