Bought Green Smoke...did I get suckered into the hype?

Hello everyone,

So, I bought my first e-cig. After looking at reviews online (YouTube mainly) I decided to buy the Green Smoke e-cig ($96 shipped w/short bat.-USB cig-wall charger-USB charger-5 tobacco carts-5 assorted flavor carts). I've only been using it now for 2 days. I do like it however, while I was waiting on it to arrive, I found this site. Now I'm thinking I could have bought something cheaper with more options down the road. I have been smoking analogs (Marlboro Lights) for about 18 years but only about 10 a day. With my new baby here, I've decided to quit these things. So, here's what I like and dislike about my Green Smoke.

Likes:
  • Size (bought the short battery)
  • light up tip (not all that important but, I do like it)
  • USB powered e-cig (great for work)
  • Cartomizers (just simple)
  • Vapor amount
  • Flavor seems OK (I don't think I'll find something exactly like my Marlboro's)

Dislikes:

  • Price
  • lack of options (I want to refill using juice)
  • lack of flavors to purchase in cart form
  • Pretty much have to buy GS batteries for their carts
  • lack of other brand carts to use with GS batteries

So, I know it's not much of a list but, I'm hoping that someone can give me some good advice. Since I do have my 30 day moneyback guarantee, I could still pick up something else before I return this one. Battery life hasn't really been much of an issue with the short battery but, I use the USB one while I'm at work in front of my cpu. Haven't been away from a USB port long enough to really test out the battery life. I really don't smoke all that much so I don't need a car battery strapped to a cart or atomizer. I just need something equivalent to about 100-150 drags in a days time. I do want to refill using some of the e juice that's available vs buying prefilled carts. I seem to want to switch the flavor around throughout the day. Not sure if this is normal, it's what I like anyway. I know there's a ton of stuff out there which makes this all too confusing.

Thanks in advance for everyones much needed help,
nolighterneeded

Unless I am missing something you can get the same exact setup as their express kit for around $30.00.

If you like the cig look a like check out the Volt.

Sending it back comes down to the issue of money; since the 808 (which is what I think the green smoke is) is interchangable among most cig look a like types you can get into other brands of cartos while still using the GS batt. However if you cant afford the $50.00 hit and they will give you a full refund then I would suggest sending it back and getting something else.

yes you got suckered and you do want to return it if you can

if you want somethign similar but much cheaper, smokess image sells the volt...its more or less the same experience with better quality equipment and at a much better price, SI also sells bottled juice to back up your cartomizers

if you havent tried refilling yet, you are completely wasting a ton of money

Hi nolighterneeded and welcome to ECF. I would suggest you return it. The Volt is a highly regarded cigarette sized PV and is a fraction of the price. You can also order accessories for the Volt from a number of diff vendors including blank cartos and juice which you can fill your self.

Good Luck.

Just wanted to say something to all newbs who may be looking at this thread or others who find this thread later on. Do NOT trust "reviews" that you see on a vendor's site. Also, do not trust reviews on commerical type websites. ECF is the best place to get a review on something. There are other sites maintained by vapers for vapers that have reviews as well.

When I first started out there were all these sites that purported to have "reviews" but on closer inspection, they were just advertising nonsense.

Thank you everyone with the quick responces...top notch people on here!

Do any of you think I would be happy with a 510? Seems to be very popular. I'm not married to the size of my GS. I've already accepted the fact that it's not a analog so, I hold it in my hand differently already. I'm really sold on refilling and using that as my main focus as well as vapor production. To change flavors quickly, is the Volt a good way to go? I just don't want to something too huge in terms of battery size.

Thanks,
nolighterneeded

Hi nolighterneeded and welcome to here..!

No, you didn't. You didn't get suckered in. GreenSmoke should be thanked wholeheartedly by everyone who has started there and not touched an analogue cig since! Myself especially included. I have surely bought better than GS since, but I still have and USE that kit. Its actually pretty good. Yes, all your negative points are true and correct, hence the need to move on, but their carts are good, nice flavours, good TH, plumes of vapour, nothing at all wrong with that! Another big plus point for them is their cartomizer/battery combo is silent in use, no hissing, cracking or gurgling, and the carts are very robust and can be refilled many times with juice of your choosing without the atty popping. There aren't many carto manufacturers that can claim that list of good points..

The one BIG bad point for GS that no one mentions too often is their choice of threads.. the KR808D-2 is SOOO niche its off the map completely! Thats a deliberate naughty move on their part. They don't want their system to be compatible with ANYTHING.. thereby "keeping" their customers locked in (they stupidly hope).

Did I just rant?? OMG I am so sorry.. hehehe

I would agree with the Volt for you. I think you would do well to get the Basic starter kit and then add a manual battery to the order.

Manual batteries will last longer between charges than automatics. You can get introduced into the manual battery devices this way, and see for yourself which one you prefer. I think you'll like the manual better...;)

And you aren't the first one nor will you be the last one to get suckered into all that commercial hype. But look on the bright side, it got you off analogs, and it got you here at ECF!

I do advise going with a 510. You can get a cig look-a-like 510. So it will look like a real cig if that's imporant to you with the added benefit of allowing you to try a ton of different accessories. The Joye 510 is pretty good but there are generic models as well.

If you don't mind going up a bit to sharpie sized, KGo and Ego are both good options which will provide you with longer battery life.

If you like to change flavors throughout the day like I do, I'd also suggest you stock up on cartomizers. You can't change flavors inside the carto, so you need one carto for each flavor...and they are disposable, so they won't last forever. Just read where people have posted while I was typing my last entry. If you don't mind alittle larger size, I agree KGO would be better than Volt.

The kit from Hoosiers comes with a Cartridge/Atomizer combo. This is a good kit, but you will want to add some regular 510 cartomizers and juice to your order. If you are feeling very adventurous, pick up a couple of stardust cartomizers from Hoosier also. I like both regular cartomizers and clearomizers (stardust) for different juices.

You're welcome. There are diff delivery systems that supply the nicotine juice:

cartomizer- filler+element in a metal tube- has to be kept moist by dripping drops into it

cartomizer+tank- cartomizer with a hole in it and surrounded by plastic tank. After the initial fill you merely refill the tank. When I used this system I refilled usually twice per day and the cartomizers had to be replaced every 2 weeks with light juice and every week with darker juices.

Clearomizer- element+wick in a plastic tube with no stuffing/ filler. Easy to fill and I fill maybe 3 times per day. They last approx 4 weeks depending on the type on juice-dark or light.

I was using the carto first and then moved up to carto+tank. I am now using a clearomizer and am very pleased with it.

Thanks!! Great video! What else would you recommend purchasing with this kit for refilling purposes?

Thanks to everyone that's posted, I'm now looking into the Volt and Kgo. Not sure which one yet...will keep you posted. I don't mind spending the money I spent on the GS, I just want what's best for my needs, down the road.

Go with the KGO. Great battery life. 510 fittings. For more versatile and you can grow with it. I started with the Volt and upgraded to the KGO. Save your money. Go with the KGO Vision kit from Sweet-Vapes http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?pag...color_plus.tpl&product_id=1033&category_id=31. You won't regret it.

For down the road, you'll probably have something entirely different. But for the immediate future, the kGo will fit the bill. If you get the kit from Hoosier, you will have the atomizers you need to test juices before you fill cartomizers with a flavor you might not even like. Do yourself a favor and throw away the cheap cartridges it comes with. They're a distraction and don't work well. They're obsolete.

Besides the kit, all you need is a box or two of blank cartomizers. You can fill them yourself. Until you find a preferred juice, that will be your biggest challenge and expense. Don't underestimate its importance. The atomizers will be indespensible in your hunt for "your" juice.

The 1100mah kGo kit at Hoosier will last you a good 8-10 hours between charges, probably even longer in a work environment. That kit, a couple boxes of cartomizers and some juice is all you need and will cost you less than $65-70.

Send the GS back. Six months from now, you'll be very glad you did. If you have to eat some cartridges, it's worth it.

You're still within the timeframe where you can return the Greensmoke - DO IT! I had one, battery life SUCKED big time after only 3 or 4 weeks. And got tired of the overpriced, prefilled cartos with no real way to fill your own. I did order some empty cartos from China but ended up killing 1 battery really quickly. ANY liquid getting in the battery - kiss it good bye. I would return it (wish I could have but by the time I decided to ditch it, it was too late). Get a KGO if something just a bit bigger than a real cigi is ok with you, or a Volt if it absolutely has to be cigi-sized............
