Bought KGO kit- 1 battery already dead the other almost?

Hi:

I'm pretty new to vaping. Bought an njoy npro as a starter and quickly became less that satisfied. About 2.5 months ago I bought the KGO kit and at first was very happy with it, especially after I discovered clearomizers. However, just 37 days after receiving the KGO, I started having battery problems. I was told me to use a small tool to pull up the center post of the battery so it would connect with the clearomizer. Well, since then one battery has died completely and the other now has to be operated on every time it is charged. So, since I now need new batteries to fit my clearomizers. I need some advice from some of you "professional" vapers.

I need a couple of replacement batteries, (manual) hopefully ones that will work with my charger, be warrantied longer than 30 days, and be reasonably priced since I am currently unemployed. These ecigs are the only thing I've ever used that have really helped me with stopping smoking. I am really concerned my last battery is going to die completely any moment.

Please let me know of any decent replacement batteries for this kit.

the problem you're going to have is the KGO charger is used for a KGO, and unfortunately not all KGOs are created equal....if you're having issues with the device, and you don't wish to use the supplier anymore....buy a new device...the issue is that you'll need a new charger regardless as different devices have different charging rates, polarities, threads, etc. one good thing you had going for you is that the KGO is 510, meaning your current accessories should work with any other 510/ eGo type devices...my advice: cut your losses and grab two eGo twist batteries and a new charger, or look around for other KGO suppliers and hope/pray that your current charger will work.....as far as i know, sweet-vapes has both the KGO and the twist, though i'm not sure if their KGO is the same as the hoosier KGO....either way, good luck and happy vaping!

Remember that the charger has a center post too. Chargers are relatively cheap, but you need to find the right one with the right output for the battery to charge correctly. It's very possible that it's the root cause of your trouble. Go that direction first.

well thanks everyone. Never thought about the charger being the problem but that may very well be it. Two batteries having issues less than 2 months after purchase is nuts. Wish I'd bought somewhere else to begin with but, oh well. Kind of luck I've been having lately.

Yes, I had similar problems on and off, mostly due to the fact that everytime you screw on a carto, tank etc, they will press down on your connection slightly and eventually it stops working, It also happens to your charger. All the KGO types batteries and chargers are very similar and if you notice all the center post on the batteries and the charger are held in place with some sort of silicone clue/gel and are flexible. Also remember your battery eventually gets a build up of juice due to the nature of how they are constructed. Clean your battery posts with a little tissue and alcohol and the same with the charger. I hope this helps, and if it doesnt its a bad case of bad luck and I understand that, believe me. One more thing when you charge your batteries, do you leave them on for long periods of time, like over night? This can drastically kill the battery life and its also dangerous as in the fact that if you leave them on heat can build up and cause a fire. Try not to let your batteries sit in the charger after the light turns green.

Well the other battery died and the vendor gave me no satisfaction so he's lost a good customer. I liked his ejuice and I try to be loyal to good vendors so it's his loss. I will do no more business there. I wound up ordering a new kit from a vendor with a reasonable warranty.

Sorry to hear that, I've had great luck with my kGO, both original batteries still working great. I tried to get a buddy on to vaping and he's already having a problem with one of his batteries blinking a few times after he releases the button, but when he throws it on the charger it shows solid green. Hoping my luck holds out, bummed to hear that eventually the post on my battery will recess - I change cartomizers many times a day but might try carrying both batteries at once so I'm not screwing in carts as often. I also check my batteries for juice spatter every time I change or if I'm not getting the vapor production I expect, usually helps. Q-tips are perfect, and a little alcohol if I really wanna clean em up. Hope your new kit treats you well!

have the same problem, one battery dead and the other slowly going, and the guy is not willing to do a thing for me.. i bought mine at the end of june so its been 2 months, not great customer service since they had to replace one at a week out anyways, seems to me the set was bad and they should be willing to do something about it....

Sorry to hear your bad luck, i also read that somewhere, about the battery post. But i also read that its a bad idea to mess with your battery post. The problem is more likely with what we connect to the battery and would be cheaper to fiddle with that if we mess something up. I hope you get things worked out.

Yes it could be the charger. But I have another thought.
I've been using the same 2 Kgo batts & original charger for about 6 months no problems. But...I use Boge & Smoketech cartomizers with no tanks.
Is it possible that these clearomizers could short out a batt? I think they are very cheaply made. I read about lots of leaks & cracking & vapers who have tested them say the ohms ratings do not measure out as stated.
Just askin. Maybe an electrical guy will show up soon with some input here.

I have had a prob with the clearomizers causing my kgo batts prob-especially the ce4. I am now using the vivi nova and no problems since. The batt would act like it was dead could get no lights on it. Shook it a bit and put cart on and it worked- go figure. It has happened a couple times but not since I switched to the nova I wonder if the skirt on the ce4 affects it somehow?

I've been using the 510 platform for 2+ years, and never ran into an issue with the center posts not making contact until I loaned out two of my eGo-T batteries to my inlaws. They sheepishly handed them back to me yesterday.. they charge fine, but no longer make contact with my Stardusts.

I've pulled the center post up, and will see if that fix holds.

I suspect they overtightened their atomizers or the charger. You don't need Gorilla Torque to connect these batteries... just enough so it isn't floppy.

My advice is to pick up an eGo product, such as a Twist (personal favorite)... and watch the tightness of your connections.

Wish i had computor skills to link to this, and my typing is worse, but its important. This is from tj99959 and its something everybody needs to be aware of.
"Regardless of what you choose to use ALWAYS look to see what the depth of the center post of the atty/tank/carto is; the ego battery is designed to use " heads" that the center post depth is FLUSH with the outer ground portion of the connector. .....you will also find things [like the Nova tanks] that have an extended center post, and if over tightened on a ego will push the post down shorting the mosfet ckt or switch.
The bottom line is that the ego/riva/kgo style batteries are a great design when used as intended. When using "heads" that they were not designed for it's "user beware".
The use of a proper adapter/extension eliminates most of the risks, even if it doesnt look good.

YES that can be the problem. I started off using nothing but Boge/Smoketech cartomizers and my batteries worked like champs. Then after about 6-8 weeks I bought some Stardust's and some of those big plastic Vision Clearomizer's and they pushed my battery posts down into the batteries and leaked juice too.

I thought my batteries were dying to and they probably would have if I would have kept using those Clearo's. If they push a post down AND leak that can't be good for the batteries especially long term. All that post pulling and leaking can lead to the end of a battery.

Can't really blame a vendor for that. I blame poor Chinese quality control and the fact I must have been tightening them up to much.

I bought my KGO set about six months ago, and have been using the same attys on it as I always have. One day, they both bit the dust. AT THE SAME TIME. It looks green when I plug it up, but no blue light at all when I press the button on either. I tried a new charger thinking that had to be the explanation since BOTH went out at the same time. I mean what are the chances? That didn't work. I tried lifting the pins. That didn't work. I have two Rivas and they are ok. I don't like the delay you sometimes get with the Rivas, but other than that they are doing well. I am thinking my next ecig will be an ego passthrough. Since I already have the Rivas, I see no reason to buy another kit at this point. I'm pretty upset about the KGOs though. They were awesome and always a good vape. Never had trouble with them until they just both quit one day. Wish I could find a way to revive them, might mess with them some more at some point.

Oh and by the way, before I purchased the KGO's I went through 6 kr808d's. Some where pricey, some were not. Some were manual, some were not. I got sick of them because they became totally unreliable. That's why I upgraded to the KGO in the first place. Six months is a running win for me so far, but sheesh......a year would have been better.

I have not had any probs with my kgo in 6 mos, but I do have the ego twist and it works well with the kgo charger.
