Braided wire coil's aren't the same as twisted wire coils but you can include twisted wires into your braid

As well as how many strand's you want to do in you braid you can also combine dif wire types together or
even braid strand/s of silica etc into your coil, i'd guess there are a lot of possibilities

Twisted wire coils are fine and some give you a lot of flavour but a couple of people have tried braid and
said that its far better then twisted, and another guy was wondering why he hadn't heard more about
this method as it was so good, hence the reason for this thread

I'm still experimenting with what works well and what is just a soso/normal vape

I just want to mention Alexander Mundy as the guy that got me to thinking about doing this in the first place
with his 'MM' Ribbon as the way it works is similar and is the only thing I know of that is in the same league
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...92-alexander-mundys-magic-twisted-ribbon.html

Below is 32g 4strand braid

When its wrapped/pulled tight it looks as below

..... 'Spidey Braid!' ??

Another boring vid :)How to Braid 3 Strands - YouTube

3 strands 30g braided ... equiv to about 26g
7 wrap 1/16id
0.5Ω Great Taste, TH & cloud on this one to, very similar to the first coil although the first coil prob just wins :)

The only braided wire ive made and didn't enjoy was this below:
1/16 id
0.5Ω
8 wraps
6 strands of 32g in total - equivalent to I think 25g
and heres a pic of the wire below

3x 2strands twisted and then braided

too much going on with the wire maybe  big drop in taste

Leaving a braid loose like this one below also works very well.. it was prob my first one

And this below is the last picture I have.. 3strands of 26g, it was quite thick so had to keep the id
down so as not to touch the cap with the outside of the coil, not that it mattered in the end because I
wrapped ten coils on 1/16id and I just managed to get the legs in the posts because of the coil length
and after all that the multi-meter was bouncing between 0.1-0.2 so was a no show

so yeah if anyone wants to try this or have tried it and want to post here with pics and results or
an idea, your very welcome :)

so i just did a nice little test of this... i have an omega clone set up with dual (26 gauge i believe) coils at .37 on the nemmy clone, and compared it to the omega set up with dual (30 gauge braided 3 strand) coils at .35 on the nemmy clone, then moved the omega clone to the hades clone...

i used placid from adk in both... now its not a 100% equal comparison... the omega clone was wrapped on the smallest mini screwdriver from a small set, and the omega was wrapped on the next size up... i believe, so the braided has a slightly larger ID... so its not a perfect comparison...

however... that was how i wanted to run my comparison, i prefer wrapping single strand on a smaller screwdriver, and twisted/braided on a slightly larger... the difference is probably 1/16th to 5/64ths (not going to say 100%) but all that said and out of the way...

the flavor i have to give to the regular 26 gauge, however slightly better... the vapor production hands down goes to the braided, both are set up vertically...

somehow the braided surprised me and was a bit smoother than i would have expected... ill leave it running for a bit and add more shortly...

Heyup! Wickeddeuce :)

I've also been noticing that the braided works well even if i have the coil down low away from the airhole, that it doesnt need to be in direct contact with the air intake to get great flavour like you have to with other wire or coils.

On the rm2 i've started putting the coil as close to smack bang in the middle of the deck as i can get it, directly under the DripTip & height wise on the coil is set up for flavour with the airhole above the coil cus although its a smoother vape for the Ω being used i think ive been getting more TH with this wire, being able to have the coil lower is an advantage giving even more flavour and even easier/quicker wicking

Have you got any 32g Wicked? i think the single strands of 32g braided x 4 is a bit better cus it gives an extra strand in the braid for more wick coverage :)

my first braided coil was a 3 strand 36g on my VV/VW. Was so great I made a thread about it
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/coil-builds/548507-ive-found-flavor-country.html

the way you explained how you did yours is how i find it best with mine

i always wrap making sure i dont overlap anything or twist the braid, wrapping as close as i can get them then scrunchy them closer together without deforming the braid to much and im done.

when i did the double twisted 32g for 3 braid, 8 wrap i forced the coils next to each other, scrunching them quite a lot, but it didnt perform anywhere like a looser one or one with less wraps :)

ok so for some reason i cant edit... anyways...

so i have found that this performs, i do like it, it seems to use a bit less juice than just a regular coil...

all in all it is nice, it is smooth, there is a touch more th, but all in all, the flavor is barely lacking, but it uses less juice... so... a worthy sacrifice...

i have vaped it relatively dry in search of that unsuspected, first dry hit, that just... bleh... but still usable... and i have found that i just automatically drip before it gets to that point... i have actually flooded it slightly...

so all that being said, this gets my stamp of approval.

not a huge fan of the braiding process and so it wont be a full time thing, but i can see myself doing it from time to time...

if you get the chance to pick up a few feet of 32, it works nice, better then the 30 imo, def worth the effort, i had a 0.4Ω with it on for a couple of days straight without any problems apart from when i took the coil out, after re-installing the same coil one of the wires weakened... understandable really

Oh also I don't know if I responded or not to you asking about 4 strands of 32 but no I do not have 32 gauge. I have 30 28 26 and 24. Haven't played with the 24 yet as far as I can recall

the 24 is not going to be anygood for braid

forgot to post on this. I am running a 4 strands of 32. pain in the ... to braid but worth it. By far my favorite coil to date. Has everything, thick clouds, warmth, amazing flavor, heats fast, covers a good surface area. with 5 wraps on a 5/64 drill bite micro coil style im getting .6 ohms

love this set up

hi saw :) good job on fighting the braided corner ;)

personally i cant be bothered trying to preach the way of the braid to anyone  so long as we are getting a good vape! is all that matters ;)

but not as good as 4 strand braided 32, I have a twisted 28 on my igo l, its nice but I like the braided coil more

Really good vape. The flavor and quick fire are amazing. A real pain in the ... to make but no denying its an awesome coil. Just not looking forward to replacing it lol

Just found this thread. I've been doing the same thing but not pulling the braided wire tight. I end up with this.

Both of the pics are in mid heat up. I call it the Chaos Coil for obvious reasons. :)

hey slippy eel....
just did about a foot of 4 strand 32ga braid. lets get this out of the way now,,its a pain in the ayus. not bad once you get the hang of it though, had to cut out the first 3 inches....lol
did 7 wraps around 3/32 drillbit..came out to .8ohms....put it in the taifun gt.
i like it....i love twisted wire and use it mostly except for that pesky fogger 4.3.
right off i noticed vapor is better than single 26ga for sure...no doubt
im used to twisted so id say at such an early stage that flavor is even with the quad 32 twisteds id done.
in fact id have to give the edge on vapor to braided.
i like it and will continue to use it..maybe not exclusively....but when ive got the time to braid it....
or maybe pay the youngest daughter to do it....ill get tighter braids too!!! lol

great find!!! thanks for your efforts with this!!
