...that night I had forgotten to smoke.

Forgot.

I'm mean, I'm still... a little weirded out by the idea...

(And I think the reason those last three are hanging around is Blu's nicotine level is too low for me and I need a... full dose?...

That "morning" cigarette is an issue for a lot of people. Many keep more than one level of nicotine around - like 24mgs when the craving is really strong and 18mgs for the rest of the day.

And yes, you are weird. That's why you're here. Blue_Caterpillar_Emoticon_by_IMCullen.gif

That what seemed to me to be happening. And if this is the version of of cravings on vaping, it ain't nuthin'. The gum, patches, Zyban... cravings were, "I wanna punch somebody". This is... almost wistful. Like, "one for old times sake". :)

Mild enough I can often ignore it if I'm in the middle of something. Which is pretty amazing in itself. I don't care what "cessation" thing they gave me, I had to white knuckle my way through cravings. This is the reverse. I'm coming to prefer vaping. "Real" cigs seem harsh and unpleasant now. When I give in to the urge to have a "real one", I don't enjoy it all that much. It's more just trying to suck down enough nicotine to get going or something like that.

I cannot believe there are moves on to stop vaping. In my opinion, this has got to be the best route for smokers who can't quit. Or might even be a path for people to quit. I dunno. At this point what I know for sure is it's major "harm reduction" for me. I mean, every time I see somebody yap in the media, "We don't the long term effects" when talking about vaping, I wanna scream back, "Yeah but we sure know the long term effects of tobacco don't we?!?"

And yes, you are weird. That's why you're here. View attachment 185650

Heh. I have come to the right place then. :)

Welcome Bunnie! Just keep vaping, and real cigarettes will be super easy to quit. I have only been vaping for 4 months, but still constantly craved for real cigarettes the whole time, so I lit up my favorite brand a few days ago, and it just tasted awful to me. So yeah, I think I'm permanently converted now, and I think you will start finding real analogs disgusting too and help you and your fiance stay away for good :)

I beelined for the Blu website, but was met with the same social feature, shaking, light up gimmick box that turned me away the first night that I came home excited with the Disposable. Even with being turned off by the product, I was willing to try it- and it was sold out in every flavor, strength and color combination that I was willing to settle for.

I'm still a newbie but I can already tell you that you were right when you veered off from Blu. I have the basic starter kit (no "social", no vibrating gimmicks) and really want to like their product. It's sharp. Nice look. Definite "cool" factor going. But they spent way too much time on the "cool" instead of the "make it work". It's mediocre at best.

I'll always have a soft spot for them because it was their stuff that got me down from two packs a day to an average of three cigs a day. I haven't managed to dump the regular ones just yet but tomorrow (Sunday) is merely one week since I bought that disposable and I've already gone from a carton a week to a rate at which a pack will last a week. Maybe more.

But Blu is flaky. I have one battery that seems to pick a random charge level to stop at. Sometimes it acts like the one that works fine. Sometimes, one puff and it's demanding a charge. Or anything between. I have to do goofy things like if that battery indicates it's "ready", take it off the charger then put it back on. Then it indicates it's not ready and goes back to charging.

Nah. Avoid them. I'm getting by with them but had I found ECF before I bought the Blu kit, I'd have gone with somebody else entirely.

Welcome Bunnie to the ECF! Lots of great folks and great information here.
I started with the Blu basic kit. That got me down to 2-3 tobacco sticks a day but it just wasn't enough. Not to mention the batteries were just too small for my needs and I was constantly charging them up. They're shipping was super slow as well. I'd order on a Monday morning, my package would ship the following Thursday and wouldn't get it till Tuesday-Thursday the following week. Don't they realize their customers are addicts?!
So I knew I had to upgrade and fast. I was looking at ego type batteries and clearos but was also eye balling the Vea. JC had a Cyber Monday sale this past November so I got the kit and the Red Oak sampler for just over $50. Happy to say that as of the day I received my kit (Nov.29th) I've been tobacco free.
The Vea is a good kit. No bells or whistles but what it does it does well. If JC is ever out of cartos you can use any other manufacturers cartomizers as long as they're low resistance. I emailed JC and they told me anything between 1.7 and 2.2 ohm would work well. I've tried Boge and Smoktek LR XL's and they do work fine but the flavor is muted a bit imo.

Bottom line is like others have said, as long as you're not using tobacco you're winning. Don't forget to drink more water and don't freak out if/when you come down with the dreaded VAPER'S TONGUE. Good luck on your journey! :toast:

You guys! I just love you all. I truly think I was blessed to run across this forum, in that I really have learned so much and have not lit an analog in almost 24 hours. I had one, in halves, over the course of getting ready but was hating the way it felt in my mouth. I was honestly craving vapor! So I put the brand new pack back in the freezer and headed toward town to get another Blu Disposable. 20-25 minutes later I wasn't even thinking of the stinky things in the freezer as something I wanted, but more of something that was abhorrent. It could be a fluffy pink cloud, but I really feel like I am done with them. My Vae arrived in my town an hour and a half ago according to USPS tracking, but the mail doesn't run up the Mountain for another 6 hours or so. That leaves me with ample time to look through more cart filling techniques and other things. Once it hits 24 hours smoke free, I am making my siggy banner in hopes that it will be even more encouragement to not head towards the freezer.

Just be sure you don't "beat yourself up" should you resort to the stink sticks. I don't fight it. If it happens, it happens. I just look for ways to reduce it. I mean, it already went way down, two packs a day to three cigs a day? Wow. Still, we're both new and I figure there's twiddling and testing and trying ahead for a while until we "hit" the right combinations of stuff and the tobacco cigs become something we just don't care for anymore.

One cool thing I'm noticing is that my sense of taste and smell seems to be coming back a little. "Real" cigs are... kinda... blech. My vapor stuff tastes better. I'm preferring it more over time.

I have two problems to solve and I'm working on it. One is Blu's batteries are just not enough. They'd be fine for running errands and stuff like that. I've ordered a "pass through" that should work with the cartos I have. And long as I was at it, ordered some empty cartos and a couple of bottles of higher nicotine liquid. Blu's version of "high nicotine" is not so high. And I was a fairly heavy smoker. I think I would want a "real cig" less if I boost the nicotine level. And having a pass through should fix the problem of having to charge the frickin' batteries alla time and getting stuck with both being charged at the same time and going to grab a regular cig.

Long as the number of tobacco cigs is going down, it's the right direction...

That is very true!

What nicotine level have you moved up to? I have 1.8 on the way, and used to smoke Menthol Lights. It will be here in about 2 hours, I am stalking the windows for the Mailman constantly. My only experience with vaping is Blu Disposables so far (and 2 of those, at that) so I am very excited for my Vae and the juices. I will pretty much be thinking out loud here when they do come- I am fairly (wait, scratch that, make it overly) excited.

But recently (I'm a newbie myself, been around only a few days) tried a Blu disposable just out of curiosity since I'd seen their ads.

Forgot to light a cigarette for something like nine hours. And I've had a two pack a day habit for years now. More years than I care to admit. :)

Did get a Blu starter kit (meh... works okay, but wish I'd found this forum before I'd bought the thing). Went almost immediately from two packs a day to no more than three cigarettes a day. Haven't gotten completely away from tobacco just yet but... wow. Just plummeted. Two packs to three cigs? All of the sudden?

Anybody had told me that was possible, I would have laughed in their face. But, here I am.

Welcome aboard...

LOL. I bought my starter kit for my girlfriend because the prior e-cigs that I've tried all felt like sucking air through a straw, but I got hooked on the vape! I was a pack a day marlboro red smoker, down to a 1 cig every couple day guy if my battery dies on me (and now the analogs taste horrible).

Glad to see you slowed down. I've almost quit completely, and I wasn't even trying/wanting to.

Oh wait, I blanked there. I haven't yet ordered the liquid yet. What I did is found ValueVapor.com is in Austin. I'm not actually "in" Austin but more out in a more rural just-past-the-suburbs area. Close enough to get to city easily if I need but far enough out, my neighbors are mostly trees and birds. :)

Anyway. Gas prices what they are, cheaper to ship than drive and our mail is routed through Austin so even low end shipping from the city is practically overnight. So ordered a "pass through" (so I won't have to yell at my batteries for both being out at the same time :) ) then tossed in some promising looking flavors in pre-filled cartos. That way I can try some out before ordering bottles.

Got ahead of myself there. But the Blu cartos are 13-16 mg (their version of "high") while the ones on their way are 24 mg. I'm not clear what the percentage would be. Huh... have to figure that out too when I start doing my own refills.

Oh well, one step at a time eh? :)

That's the cool thing, I came to a near screeching halt without even trying. Blew my mind. And today, there are no cigs at all in the house. I get a mild "I wanna real one" now and then but almost immediately think, "Ah, too much trouble going to get a pack and they don't taste very good anymore."

Used to be, being completely out, I'd be running out the door almost fast enough I'd risk forgetting to put on pants. :)

The Vea is an eGo clone, so you will be able to put any 510 or eGo threaded device on it in the future: like clearomizers or Vivi Novas. Nice choice!

This is exactly what I was wondering about this system, and in my normal way I completely let it go in one ear and out the other because it isn't something that I 'understand fully' yet. I am definitely interested in clearomizers and learning more about which will fit my battery. Thank you very much for that helpful info.

I was a 40 yr, PAD 'burro red' man- I quit smoking the day I got my eGo-c kit...

This in itself is one of my biggest sources of inspiration. Honestly. 2 days and 13 hours with no Burnin' Backy, and when I get a big craving I grab my Vae and come back here to read that again. You have kept me from 5 at least. (Big, big thanks from both me, and my Fiance).

I like your heading that your willing to learn.............

Got to be :) It seems that there is just so much more stuff to know than just 'light - inhale - stink'. (ha ha!)
I have spent a whole lot of time the past few days lurking and reading, and I've got to say that it is only helping me step farther and farther away from cigarettes.
Now if I could just get enough posts under my belt to get a cool little "last cigarette" signature. I'm definitely proud of my 2 day 14 hours, its the longest in the 12 years of my habit that I have went without lighting up.

You can do it Bunnie, and it's much easier to quit with vaping. I was a smoker for 25 years and quit fairly easily. The first couple days without tobacco were a little difficult, but not as bad as when I had tried all the other ways. As long as I had my vape I didn't feel like I was gonna chew somebody's head off....or my own!:p
Once you have 15 posts and the site server resets you can customize your signature by hitting the Settings tab at the top of the page next to the log out tab. If you see a signature here that you like you can just click on it and it'll take you to where you can set up your own. Copy/paste the BBCode (for forums) in the big box and save. Voila.
Happy vaping! :banana::toast::banana:

I don't know if it is the Vape alone that is helping me stay away from the analogs, it is definitely "the main thing"- but I truly believe that the forums are aiding and abetting to my new found Vaping obsession. With so many things to find out about and learn, it definitely makes it a whole lot more interesting than making ashes. With so many success stories like yours and others', I find it very weak-willed of me to think of going to the freezer for my stashed smelly sticks. Especially when I have these lovely vanilla custard plumes to make.

Thank you muchly for letting me know how many posts I needed for a signature- I have been trying to not lurk so much but I don't feel that I know enough to talk in any other areas so I haven't been posting hardly anywhere but here. lol

Welcome!! There is much more to vaping than you probably ever imagined. Lots of different hardware, juices, ingredient mixtures, and people that vape. It will probably take some time for you to gain enough experience to find something that you're happy with on an ongoing basis. I'd encourage you to read, read, and read some more in here to get familiar with the jargon and all of the elements of the vaping world. It will be overwhelming at first but as they say, eat the elephant one bite at a time. Congrats on your decision to try vaping!
