I am on day 7 without any ciggs

My wife and I are over 1 month smoke free and we are already well ahead. We used to spend nearly $400/month on ciggies and so far have spent less than $400.

I went to the bank on Monday and was pleased that there is still quite a bit of money in there compared to the last week of the month before vaping.

According to my e-smoker android app my break even date is Feb 27, 2013, I am looking to upgrade from Blu but will probably wait until I break even to go shopping, keeping my fingers crossed that the batteries last until then. Was a pack a day smoker and have been off the Winstons since I bought the starter kit January 6th. Also bought 11 packs of carts and 5 sample bottles of juice. Live in California so was only spending $5 a day on coffin nails.

Indeed I have, see my signature! The break even date there is based on my current spending on vaping, my money saving not buying analogs, and takes out $30 for gear that I bought for my husband (turns out he doesn't want it, and I may sell it to a friend). I have it all in a spreadsheet that calculates everything when I open it, and recalculates everything when I add in a new purchase.

I'm still a few hundred in the hole. But I just started vaping last month and my monthly cigarette expenses were only about $100 (cheap here in VA). I went a little crazy at first. Had to try THIS, had to try THAT

I see it this way though...If you can pay a few hundred to pretty much immediately drop a horrible habit, would you? The money is an acceptable loss at this point! :2cool:

Was "E-smoker Calculator" the android app? Pretty basic but it works. (I wish I could track by vendor and item - eg 'how much have I spent on juice' etc..) Thanks for the tip!

You are closer than I am. (Well.. right now I'm ahead of you by a day.. Feb 8. After I go shopping tomorrow, thats gonna be a different story..)

I was spending about $250 a month ($7.50, about a pack a day, extra pack most weekends..) After selling my 'starter' 510 stuff to a coworker and taking out the 6 days of smokes I didn't buy I'm only down by $63 right now.

I did the same sort of spreadsheet in google docs and shared it to the wife so she'd stop being quite so upset at the expenses. "Sure, I'm spending another $100 tomorrow.. but check the spreadsheet.. its ok!" :vapor: It helps that I'm converting retail-brand users at work, should start seeing some referrals soon. And I'll get free juice @ dojo tomorrow for bringing in a friend to get her off Blu (and smokes) and onto something good..

I quit cigs for 5 years. Welbutrin and the patch together had great clinical results (and worked for me) but it was by far more expensive than this.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm seriously considering becoming "OK" with moving my break even date to my birthday in March so I can get some presents for myself. MOAR JOOSE!!!! :p

As for the cost of another quit method: I did that math this morning too. Vaping for 2 months with only moderate equipment investment will still prove cheaper than store brand patches for 2 months.

Has anyone out there figured their break-even date? (Including everything, even that $5 juice sample..) And more importantly, has anyone hit it in under a year?

I whipped up a spreadsheet to calculate everything. My break even date is Feb 7. I'm in pretty cheap so far, but my cig expense was pretty low too at $80/month.
If I could resist new juices, I'd have broken even already. I calculate about a 90 day supply on hand at the moment.

so saved £182 on cigs
2 more days and i've broke even
and have enough liquid and spares to last me 2 months

I LOVE VAPING
wish i'd found it years ago

I live in Upstate NY, so my pack-and-a-half day habit was costing me about $495.00 per month!! (at $11 a pack) I quit smoking December 28. Not sure exactly what I've spent on vaping, but like around $400.00 between an ego or two, then a gripper, now my eVic. FYI Firmware 1.2 ROCKS! Figure if I haven't broken even yet, it's right around the corner. But more important than the money, I've finally quit committing slow suicide after 18 years! If it cost me twice as much as smoking for a year it would be worth it for that reason alone. You can make more money!

The secret to breaking even is finding a mod that you like, juices you love, and some repeatable form of atomization. Once you do that you stop ordering everything in a search to find the one you like. It's expensive until it becomes mundanely satisfying.

I spend about $35 a month on 150ml of assorted Dekang juices in the 50ml size and I run through 2 or 3 boxes of cartos a month at $7 each. I think that will be reduced after I bought a Vivi Nova this month. All I'll need is wick/coil assemblies ($3 each). One of those lasts a week or two and is really easy to change.

I was a pack a day smoker almost 3 years ago. Even now, a carton of Pall Mall ultra lights costs under $40 in Georgia.

Well I spent about $500 just in my first purchase and I'm pushing about $50/month in juice and I cut that with VG.
Point is I've only been vaping since 8/8/12 and being a PAD smoker I've saved money already, and that's not counting the lighter and fags I used to give-away.
Yes the margin is tight but every day it opens up :D
You just have to be as smart you can, use coupons, buy extra flavored juice and cut it yourself with VG which is very cheap or going completely DIY.
If vaping is your thing then I suggest noobs like myself to sell their egos and 510 and step up to regulated big batt mods with Vivis or RBA.
bigger initial investment, less upkeep costs.
Good luck my friends.
