hi there

I've modded a Phoenix to work with my Grand and I'm in love, so I decided to mod a Rainbow V3 to work with my mini, but the mini was acting up with the button getting stuck so I cleaned it, but still not working properly, so I took it apart and the piece of thin metal that is supposed to send the button up again is cracked so it's not longer "springy".

The worst part is that I broke the firing pin trying to unscrew it to loose that thin metal part to try to solder it or to "patch" it trying to make it push the button up again

I'm overseas so I decided to order a few other things like springs and tubing, but the shipping is more than the whole order, like $30 to ship a handful of small parts, so I decided to come here and see if someone can help me out here to try to fix this without having to order specific parts and wait.

thanks for any help you can give me, I'll try to upload pics later

take care

Being overseas, sending it to Rob is not convenient neither in my budget. That's the reason why i came here looking for help since you guys are very handy with parts and what not

I can relate to your dilemma as my very good friends live in Mexico and have very unreliable receipts of shipments of many things in their region........... so many things are carried down to them by visitors flying to region.

I know this is a very long shot but maybe there is some area on ECF where you could hook up with persons traveling to S. America and they could bring the parts to you. I'm not all that experienced with finding such areas but perhaps someone will see this and help.

I'm really sorry for your problem. Hoping for you a resolution.

Watched the videos and that why I tried to unscrew the post, Rob breaks it off because he's changing it, but since I didn't have a replacement I thought I might be able to remove it and put it back, but nope :p

I'm gonna see if I can solder something there, or adapt a high gauge needle there, no way I'm paying 30 bucks to ship a few parts which weight is less than a battery.

Thanks for the support y'all, hopefully I can get this fixed, i still have my Grande so not too desperate

I did exactly the same thing, more than once. And I am sure we are not the only people who have done the same. I think the super glue, used on the tubing, is the culprit. When I rebuild a REO I'm not going to use the super glue to affix the tubing.

We will certainly be awaiting your news. Remember to test the connection for any shorts as a short will trigger the spring to collapse rendering it useless for further short protection.

I just took a look at my wood Phidias that uses a blunt nose syringe needle, that goes up from bottle cap, through hole in fitting, into the center post of atty. But the firing is done via wiring to a button and not by mechanical means like the metal REOS. If you are pretty handy with small electrical gadgets and parts you may be able to rig something similar. I can take some pictures but won't be able to until tomorrow. Just saying. A bit of silicon, some small wire, a firing button, and a little bit of knowledge can go a long way, when one is desperate. Just saying.... Hope I won't get into any trouble with REO folks. I'm a born tinkerer but, luckily, parts for our precious REOs are easy and somewhat inexpensive to obtain here in the States.

Maybe I can paypal somebody the money and they can ship it to me, 1st class can be that expensive, a small flat rate box is 16.95

I appreciate all your help, and westamyx, I didn't expect less from a Texan, I lived near Houston almost 10 years. That's the Southern Hospitality that I miss here.
