You go vertical in the Russian yet kgs?
Tried a "traditional" microcoil and the vertical... For obvious reasons I stayed with the vertical. So much taste, so much vapor, so much throat hit... The Russian with a vertical microcoil is like a big brother to the ProTank et al with a vertical microcoil. There's a reason I have my PTs around as backups (I've long since learned to have backups for your backups...).

At any rate, keep on vaping, everyone! :vapor:

The big brother is on the way! can't wait to apply the concept on the Kayfun lite.

Man, this looks sweet! Question tho. all I have available to me ATM is 32ga kanthal. Would this work? If so how many wraps should I use? also my battery is just the cheap 650mAh joytech passthru. Would this cause issues? Thanks for the tek and rock on!

Not sure about the wraps for 32, but with 30 around a 1/16" drill bit, ~5 wraps gives you ~1Ω. With a PV like yours, I'd stick to somewhere between 2Ω - 3Ω, leaning towards 2.5Ω - 3Ω. I had great luck right around 2.5Ω with my Ego clone, a Smokeless Image X2. Do you have a meter of some kind to check your wire's resistance (even a cheap Wally-World meter will give you at least a ball park figure, though I prefer a digital multimeter... )? I'd say try about 10 - 12 wraps around a 1/16" drill bit, though you might need a bit more or a bit less. If you have a meter, check the resistance before mounting, and remember to leave about an inch of wire to make the feeding beside the positive post and negative/grommet a bit easier! Also make sure to read over the guides that've been put up in the thread, they're immensely helpful! Good luck, Kingboomer!

Thank you for your ingenuity!!! By far the best rebuild technique I have tried!! Currently running a stacked dual coil (0.16mm with 2 coils of around 8 wraps each) in a kangertech evod with 1mm hemp string, lasted me around 2 weeks!!!!! Sucks juice and battery but pretty consistent! If the coil gets a bit clogged I gently run a 1.5mm drill up the centre by hand and it frees up the draw!!

Paired this with the aero base on my protank 2 and it is a world of difference. 1.06 ohm twisted 30g. I want to say it was 6/7 wraps.

Its possible, I use 32g, but you'd be doing it a little different. The coil and the wick method would be different. Your battery is a big factor as well. I think Your best bet for what you've got is a smaller coil of 32 for around 2-2.4 ohms using the wick method I use in the Vcore thread. You'll just run your legs down instead. You could do a twisted 32 ~10/11 wrap @around 1.8 to be able to use the same coil and wick pack method Bsd uses. But you lack the power to push the twisted 32 effectively. Meaning it would heat up really slow and run your battery down quick. Either way a more powerful mod will make them work better.

Make sure your long leg is the ground wire.

OK, waay off topic, but when I first found this thread I didn't realize how small these things actually are. LOL, some of these pics look like you guys are re-building a strut on the kitchen floor!

Magnifying headgear makes this a snap. Best investment of all my vape gear.

I've been having good success with the coil right up against the positive pin. Grommet has to be trimmed back a little, but I've done that with all of my builds anyway.

Nothing more aggravating than to install a coil, and realize one or more of the coils are no longer touching. With the coil up against the positive pin, I can just fire the coil, and gently press it with a drill bit to get them all touching again. Just take care not to short against the body if you do this.

Best way to do this is with the coil on the needle or bit, slide the bit into the positive pin air way, then use the positive pin to make the bend on the bottom leg. Object being so that when the coil is installed in the base, it'll line up. With the bottom leg having a sharp bend in this configuration, there is little play for adjusting the centering, so it helps to have the bend correct first.

I put up a pic next time I redo one.

Thanks for the info man. I checked out your builds and they look nice too, however I used the last of my 32Ga on a 7/8 wrap horizintal micro. I'll deffinitely be picking up some 30Ga and hopefully a modded battery to get these bad boys working like they should.

I have to chime in here. This built is Awesome. I am a Wick freak and have everything from Hemp on down. Using this Mod, I have found the perfect coil for myself. I am using .32 Kanthal and 10 wraps is giving me a consistant 2.25 coil. I took a fingernail cleaner and cut and shaped it to pack the cotton in but it gave me inconsistant draw etc. (I like it airy) Then with a lot of experimenting, I tried (2) pieces of 3mil/3strand organic cotton string. The answer was to lay them across the wick channel and prime them with a drop of juice before the pack. The juice makes them pack down in nice and tight all the way around and the two strands meet back at the channel making a perfect wick. With this built I have a coil or two exposed above the cotton which does not seem to be a problem. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time for the cotton to swell but I have five of these vaping like steam-engines right now without a leak or gurgle. The whole Idea for me was to make the built as consistent as possible. Again,,,,AWESOME build. Thank You
