I wanted a button that was more flush.

These pics are not mine. I found them online and they're from a mod company called High Voltage.

Would you post a link for High Voltage? Googling "High Voltage mods" turns up a lot of 100 W mods, but I didn't find a link to a mod maker called "High Voltage." TIA

I'm considering a switch which is half the length and has a very short travel.

Could you post a link? I never thought it would be such a pita to find the right kind of switch / push button.

I ordered a 12mm led flat button from Singapore as well. I don't think it will fit with the varitube 510 though.

The one I'm drooling over is this: Electronic Components from Rapid - the Electronic Parts Specialist | Rapid Online

Just need to find a store with realistic shipping fees.

The button doesn't go that deep...

It will be centered when the back lid is on?
The bezel is 16mm but the case width is 26mm so that's 5mm to each side...

The hole itself is only 12mm...

    I don't see a problem?

    Travel is around 0.3mm

I just measured the case w/o the back plate and it's 18mm on the flat part and my box has very small radiused edges. The FT box has much more rounded edges so less flat space. The back plate on mine is 4.5mm thick. Overall case thickness is 24.4mm. The indent for the fire button measures 11mm.

Your button will look like this:

The only two problems with those is that they wouldn't work in my planned mod. I will be using an ocd 510 connector which is longer than both fat daddy's and VT so that a long body switch like that would hit the lower end of the connector.
The other problem (for me at least) is the throw on these switches. They are flat so you thumb will need to push the button in but I believe the travel is several mm. I'm considering a switch which is half the length and has a very short travel.

The problem in high quality switches is their obvious high price.

Is it really worth it? Not sure.

High quality switches are worth every penny. I just think about what a pain it would.be to take my mods apart to replace anything that malfunctions. I am trying to build a dual battery DNA 40 mod in a very small enclosure. Everything is planned very carefully to fit. It is actually almost as small as some of the single battery non replaceable mods. Wouldn't want to have to replace anything!

    Mr. San Josse Sir,

When do you expect this DNA40 Cradle v2 by sanjosse on Shapeways magnificent piece of elegant utility and luxurious aesthetics to be available for purchase by a commoner such as myself?

I understand it that the beta test that didnt quite work as expected was for the v1, correct?

BTW I also remember there being a certain comment from a certain person from a certain company making a rather certain statement about a certain chip having the same dimensions as certain previous releases when the rails are removed ... so youre not alone there

My full size FT "hana-ish" enclosure hasnt arrived yet but I would like to order as soon as I can so I'll have my ducks in a row and ready to go ;)

I cant speak for SJ, but I am beta testing v2 of the cradle. I have ordered several and the "Target Ship Date" at Shapeways is showing Dec 4th. I will let SJ know how it goes ASAP.

BTW, I was also one of those "certain persons" who said the dimensions would be the same, as that is what we were told by Evolv when the beta first started. I guess they were only talking about outside dimensions, none of us every considered to check thickness. SJ was the first person who attempted to "clip" one of these (vs clamp), and he found out the hard way.

    kNOT1,

I'm so sorry it's taken so long to respond.

Regard your question about when I'll release the version 2 of the DNA40 Cradle… how about now ;)

After receiving 2 prototypes of the version 1 DNA40 cradle and checking the fit, everything fits a bit snug, but it's totally doable.

So version 2 should work even better :)

    Here's a couple pics of the v1 cradle;

What's the width? I have a FC hana clone now and few cloupor boxes and FT hana mini on the way.

The FC hana clone (KSD) is 21.7mm wide in the electronics compartment.

    KTMRider,

As shown on the shapeways.com page, the width of my cradle is 20.8mm (2.08cm). BTW, I'm also offering all of my cradles on sculpteo.com for our friends across the pond :)

    Happy Thanksgivings Everyone!

May you and yours enjoy this day and be thankful for everything that you've been fortunate to be blessed with!
