Hey mike it appears to be pretty difficult to change the screen out. I did see mastblast09 change one on a yihi board and it did not look too fun. Someone with good soldering skills take this task on with not trouble or ?

Not sure if I am the Mike your were pinging, but I have never attempted it myself, and I solder half way decent.

Calling SanJosse!

beta-v2 of the DNA40 sled arrived today. Fits great!
There is a little play from side to side, but I think that is good as it allows a little wiggle room if your wires dont lay quite right.

Now here is some food for thought. If you made the screen cavity about .4mm wider it would also accommodate the new large display that Evolv is releasing. The User would need to enlarge the window on the enclosure, but aluminum files easy enough.

It was just about .35mm shy of fitting in there:

mikepetro,

Good deal, and thank you very much for beta-testing my beta-2 cradle!

LARGER DISPLAY… wait - what, sweet!!! The fact that it's detachable is a total plus.

I can't tell from the image, but is the ribbon the same length as the original. If it's shorter I'll have to adjust the curved end to accommodate it. Once this question is answered, I'll make the changes needed as well as adjusting the screen cavity, and upload a new version :)

Sanjosee - Any chance to make a Cloupor tray?

Looking at the electronics bay, the right side is 7mm, 8.5mm for the display and 4.5mm on the left. 20mm overall inside. :D

KTMRider, I'd be happy to give it a go, and thanks for the measurements. Is this the one you're referring to?

Nope, that's the T6.

Quite a few of us have bought defective Cloupor Hana clone boxes they've been selling at $5 from Elev8vape.

I posted this on the previous page:

The light blue in the back is from Focalecig which is a KSD. The 3 in front is Cloupor boxes.

*KSD's electronics compartment is less than a mm wider than the FT enclosure (21.7mm).

Ribbon length is the same. I did a test fit and had no issue wrapping it around at all.

And how do you guys plan to enlarge the window on the mod without screwing up the box?

Regards
Tony

Dont know yet, but its aluminum, so its soft. I enlarged the window on the BAP above and it came out OK.

Files, drill bits, dremel bits, etc all come to mind. Or I might just cheat and take it into work and use the Mill to do it.

the up button on mine fella apart too - heh - while getting off that resin type glue - still works though

the screen fixed itself - probably a dodgy connection somewhere.

It appear from my research in buying the dome switches to build another mod that they are mostly all made by C & K Switches and are really fragile. I had to pop them out of the mod I'm building and all three of them fell apart in the process. If you leave em alone after installation they are supposed to last for almost 300,000 cycles. That's probably a stretch.

I deleted the text of this post. Jumped the gun and it was made wrong by follow on posts. Teach me to read all the posts before opening my mouth! :D

Actually the only way I know to do it correctly is using an air rework station. It's all surface mount stuff I think. They float the solder on in the manufacturing process.

I hope they make cable extensions , what would really step up some mods!

If it's socketed ribbon cable we should be able to actually make our own. I'd give it a shot anyway. That would make for some really interesting mods. Board and display don't have to be anywhere near each other, relatively speaking.

Now that I think about it I did see a video of a tour of Evolv with PBusardo and they showed the process of mounting the screens. It was two women doing it, one of them attached them manually with a jig and a soldering iron. The other had a station that did it automatically. In both cases it was one screen at a time. It looks to me like with the DNA40 they ramped production up maybe its all automated now.
