Building a "hana" style mod with the fasttech enclosure: looking for tips, tricks, and suggestions

Well, I got my 3 black "dna 30 Enclosures" from Elev8vape today. It took 10 days from the order date.

I wasn't expecting them to work perfectly. Good thing too.

One lit up, said "Locked Click 5 Times" so I did and it fired my Naut mini at 14 watts just fine. Then the screen went black. It still works though, just no display.

The other two display the "Check Atomizer" message so they won't fire at all.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with them. I may keep the one that actually works.

I see fasttech has the Hana 30 watt chips for $20.38 but not sure it's worth the risk of getting a bad one.

They also have a 20 watt for $14.21.

Wow. Both times I ordered, I got it within 4 days.

With the one that sorta works, try clearing out some of the hot glue especially around the display ribbon but be very careful. I had one that has a flaky display but worked after taking everything out and re-installing it (into a different box).

Get a DNA40 or two for the other 2 boxes.

I cleaned out about a pound of hot glue from one of the "Check Atomizer" boxes to see if I could find a bad connection or wire. Thanks to the member that suggested using alcohol, it wasn't that hard. No bad connections or broken wires. The 510 reads resistance on my DMM with a atty on it. This seems to be a common problem with these boards.

I may just leave the one that works the way it is until something else goes wrong. I'm afraid I'll render it unusable if I start digging around in there.

I can't really see spending $50 or more on an Evolv dna chip when I can buy a 30 watt iStick for <$40 or an MVP 30 watt (when they're released) for around $50.

Anybody know if I can sell one of the "Check Atomizer" ones in the Classifieds?

Get a DNA40 and you have a DNA40 device for about $65. Cheapest DNA40 device is $190.

Comparing a DNA30 with an Istick is like comparing a Camry to a Porsche.

I can't really see spending $50 or more on an Evolv DNA chip when I can buy a 30 watt iStick for <$40 or an MVP 30 watt (when they're released) for around $50.

The point is to get the DNA40 new hotness for much much less than they are sold as complete units.

Compare the Vapor Flask, Hana-Mods DNA 40's ... you are comparing Model T's to Mustangs

Yeah, you're probably right, I've never had a DNA mod so I wouldn't know. I'm not very confident in my soldering skills though. It's something to think about.

Yeah, you're probably right, I've never had a DNA mod so I wouldn't know. I'm not very confident in my soldering skills though. It's something to think about.

With everything I have read recently I might want the newer board. I understand Evolv has fixed a lot of the complaints. I wonder if they would warranty a first gen board?

According to Evolv site, it looks like 1 year warranty on DNA products. Evolv LLC - Limited Warranty

It's worth a shot. Worse they can say is no.

The one I did RMA had been installed three times and removed three times. They replaced in less than seven business days. The very much want the bad boards back as they want to sell chips for years to come. You will find swapping out the chip to be painless.

One of the boards that I got back from the last RMA gets all goofy with Ni200. it doesn't actually lock up like previously, but grabled characters and an occasional reboot. It's pretty annoying really. Since it works fine with kanthal I was not going to send it back again, but rethinking that.

The ones from Fasttech really are pretty good, just slightly different in size and I mean SLIGHTLY.

I agree. I have a couple from FT, but the ones from elev8 are only $5. And besides, now it has become an obsession to get one... LOL

Has anyone seen this yet or know anything about it? Manufactured by Shenzhen Ming Ming technology co., LTD. $30 for chipset and charging board? Good deal if it actually works and lasts a while.
