I just got a Vamo v5 today and is it ok to use 8 watts against 3.8 volts with a 2.8 ohm resistance? I get a burnt taste and I don't know if it's the coils that are burnt out or if i'm just overdoing it.

I use a genny on my vamo quite a lot. I build coils at 2.5 ohms and vape at 10w but that's a genny. If your vaping at 8 watts with a 2.8 ohm coil you should be ok.

I have protank mini and protank 2, also kanger evod, mini nova and nova stv i use 1.8 and 2.5 ohm coils running 3.4 volts with both, i use crystal clear 18mg liquid which i think is pg

Did you manually set it to RMS, commonly known as NO2? A lot of Vamo users find it has a burnt taste unless its in RMS - hold down the minus button for something like 10 seconds to switch settings.

Something doesn't sound right - I accidently vaped at 15 watts on the average setting NO1 or whatever it is. Nearly took me out, and the Kanger coil was pretty much cooked. It's still going, but tastes bloody awful.

Does it taste burned even on the lowest settings? Just wondering if your coils are knackered, or your taste buds are just picking it up - if it's still tasting "off" on the lowest settings you can go then I'd consider a new coil/tank combo..

Edit...ok, so your cartos are covered - speed reading, sorry.

3.4 volts. Should be no problem at all. I run 3.9v with 1.8 heads and over 4.0v with 2.5.

Nova and Nova STV will self-destruct in under 24 hours if you don't swoosh and/or vape steadily.
Protanks won't require swooshing, but vape too fast and furious and wave goodbye.

Steep learning curve... :)

Hi! by the way. I am on the border of N Wales. I vape there often. :)

This is my experience with Kanger tanks/coils ({Pro, Pro 2, Mini pro 2), they are hit or miss. I follow all the "rules" with volts/watts based on the ohm reading I got from vape device. I was still getting a burnt taste so often, so I did what others on this forum suggest

Plan A: (two things you can try)
1. flip the rubber stopper (shaft), so more juice can come in. don't press it all the way down.
2. take some puffer hits (blow into it)
these soaks up the coil more.

Plan B: (works for best me)
1. rebuilt my coils (tons of youtube vids on rebuilding Kanger coils)
the start up cost is there, but once you get everything, tools, silica wick, kanthol wire, lighter, or I prefer my mini blow torch...it's pretty pays for it self. Of course you have to stick correct volt/wattage levels based on your ohm resistance, but I'm no longer get that nasty burnt taste.
