Thank you for posting this because people should be aware that this a possibility.
You do not want to leave your pass through hooked up when you leave your laptop, go do what ever, or God Forbid leave it plugged in all night long and wake up in the middle of the night and your house is on fire.

I always unplug the pass through even if I leave for 1 minute.

The other reason I unplug it is because I do not want to fry my laptop.

Either the switch stuck or the FET shorted out. Not that it really matters, but was it an auto or manual PT?

Send an email to mark@vapor4life.com and he'll take care of you.

I'm sure they will take care of it.
At the same token this is serious stuff and people should be aware of a possible disaster.

Absolutely it is serious.

Its also a good idea to unplug from the USB adapter in your vehicle if your cigar lighter stays hot with the ignition switch off.

My truck has 3 outlets. I keep the adapter plugged into the only one that shuts off when the ignition is off. I also have my radar detector plugged into that outlet, so it's easy to make sure it shuts off.

Wow! that is good to know, i'm not tech savvy at all. I didn't even consider that sorta thing could happen with a usb port. my kids leave thier ipods plugged in to charge them, but i'v never even used the usb before. I absolutly LOVE the PT and like to keep a cart on it all the times. I'll be sure to unplug when away from the laptop because I would miss The PT more then the puter....

Leaving an iPod or other equipment like that plugged it is pretty safe. Since any atomizer (including the one inside a carto) is nothing more than a heating element, the potential exists.

Unscrewing the carto would reduce the risk to the point it is negligible. Unplugging the PT eliminates it.

Most newer computers with USB 2.0 ports should have circuitry to monitor power consumption and will shut down that port and bring up a warning message if a dead short happens. With an attomizer attached, it is not a dead short, so that wouldn't happen.

It is up to each user to evaluate the risks and decide how to proceed.

I hope this helps someone.

Same thing happened here. Just received my VK with passthrough and posted about it getting the cart so hot and hissing at me. Last night and today both I noticed 2 carto's have burn spots on them. I did not leave the PT plugged in. Barely used it but it happened anyway. PawPaw suggested I clean the passthrough with everclear (which I havent tried yet )
