I'm sorry if this is going to offend you..... but that's complete rubbish.

Please don't state "as fact" what you may have heard as a rumor.

I can go into great detail what is contained in the USB 2.0 spec... what the power delivery is, what can control it, where it specifically comes from, and on and on. But the bottom line is... no program can maliciously increase the USB port power output and damage your pass-thru. That's a fact.

Also, the thing about booting high graphic games causing power surges is pretty much opposite of the truth. Higher end systems will actually lower power output to things not related to graphics or processing when select program are booted, such as games.

Most modern graphics cards use A LOT of power and unless you're running a very powerful PSU, there isn't a lot of extra power to go around when the GPU is running at full blast.

Actually for my sytem my power increases for me to run my games. Including a higher power supply in order for me to run my 5x wow.
My graphics cards sucks a lot more power.

And yes I have had usb ports burn up 2 mp3 players because they pushed out to much power and burned them up. Replacing the usb ports fixed the problem. It was a short in the wiring. So YES IT CAN HAPPEN. AND IT HAS HAPPEND

Now if read my post you would of seen that the bottom of my statement I am not a computer genius I only go off of what others here on the boards have told me. AND what my tech has fixed and explained what happend.

Like it or not it has happened to me and is fact.

I understand that your power will increase. If you read through my post, you'll see that I noted that unless you have a powerful PSU, then power will be cut to secondary sources when the GPU is hogging a lot.

I think we can assume that most of the people reading this forum DO NOT have a powerful PSU, let alone even know how many watts they're running. For these people, power will not increase to USB ports when their video card fires up, because the video card is using every last drop of power.

You can't openly state you aren't a computer genius, but get offended when people correct things that are incorrect with your post...You provided a lot of insight, but some of it was just wrong.

I'll second that.
