Thanks Lori... You're a sweetheart!

Glad to hear you're having a more positive experience this time around Katya! Hopefully my luck will take a turn for the better...

But are these SS cartos any different than the ones from GP, or Trueman?

I don't know if they are any better or not, they're comparable, performance-wise, in my experience. Yankee and Lori swear by the SS cartos, Tibur loves her Treumans to pieces, I like them all, really. I've been using the GP cartos for the longest time now, never had a problem.

But I agree with Lorikay that they may not be for you, dearie. Those are more suitable for gentle folks with a little bit more patience, not for fire-eaters like yourself. If the bigger and more powerful V4L CoolCarts didn't deliver enough vapor and TH for you, those smaller 4081s probably won't either. The best way for you to try is to order a box from GP and a kr808>4081 adapter. Rob ships fast and you can choose first class, not priority. He's supposed to have blanks any day now, or you can choose his prefilled tobacco, I think it's standard Dekang Marb (American Mix). Look for GPDD22 spare cartos, the flavors are in the drop down window. They are all the same strength. On sale now for $7.99. I would send you a sample but I don't have a good adapter; I got it from someplace else and it's not connecting properly.

WOW this thread just keeps going on and on!!!!

Personally I only use cartos both 510 and 808.

If you get a tight draw.... that probably means you put too much juice in it or (for 808 only) u accidentally dripped a few drops in the middle :p. What I do is I just blow out excess juice and carto performs great after!

As for the burned taste.... I do get that sometimes... what I normally do is I try to blow out all the juice from the carto (ya that's gonna take a while) and refilled it (I do not use condom filling method) take a few drag.... if it still taste burned I throw it away.... but most of the time it's good after!

For any carto that you want to empty the juice from, it's simple, just do the Taryn spin in reverse. Let me clarify...take the cap off and put in your lanyard top side down, so the centrifugal force causes the juice to leave the carto into the condom you have on the mouth end of the carto.

Of course if you have a SS, you just take out the filler with tweezers, clean, and put back. :)

Katya: Glad to hear you had a better experience with SS the second time around. When you took them apart, were you able to put them back together and reuse?

idontknowdu how many drops do those new cartos hold? Have you seen the inside of one yet? Wondering what it looks like.

I'm pretty impressed with the smokestix ones and the ikenvape slb 510s.
Both types working well for me - better than the Boge 510s I last used.
No burnt/charred taste - no musty taste - and they're lasting quite a few days so far.

Are these only available for 4081's?

No...they are looking at 510's as well as the Royal Smokers....

The insides look just like a SS carto

Smoke Stik is also making some interesting changes to their cartos....doubling up on the wicking material (NOT to be confused with the filler or central tube) as well as using a different material with a higher burn resistance.

Vapors Etc will have the Kanger XL extended cutoff batteries in stock within 2 weeks. No fancy colors but about 40% cheaper than V4L.

OK guys. I need some help, again...

I need a place to get some decent cartos on the double for cheap (i.e. not from china)! Prefilled would be fine if they come in 555...

as everyone knows, I am a serial cartomizer killer. I burn em. Simple as that. I am resigning to that fact, and now looking for a way to make this not cost me an arm and a leg.

I am almost out of cartos, and need to place an order soon.

Maybe Ill get some of the turbos Katya recommended...

if anyone has a better idea... shoot

Salt, I recommend you start with the Turbos (especially if you want 555). Ben has them for 9 bucks and change, some discount for quantity (the more you buy, the more you save). I don't know if they are soft of hardcaps, but they are really good. Just a warning: the ones I got were seriously underfilled, so add some juice even before you start using them. And make sure the airflow tube is centered; if it's not, you'll burn in no time flat. And he offers first class shipping option.

I also like the V4L premium CoolCarts (blanks only, the prefilled 555 are NOT the new ones.)

I just placed an order with wordupecig. They have k808 cartos that have the same construction as the 4081s, and their shipping is free, so it's worth a try. Of course, I know you had no luck with SLB 510, which are supposed to be identical inside, so there.

You should get a sample Turbo from me tomorrow (555), so if you can wait, you'll be able to try if before you order.

Good luck.

i am stoked for the sample tomorrow Katya! Thanks amillion! (yep, that's one word now!) I can hardly wait! and thanks for the tips. The older I get, the more I value the advice of another.

Although, I don't like the CoolCarts. Not enough vapor/TH for me. I feel like I have to prime it for a day, then drag it for a mile* before I get any satisfaction out of it ( *mild exaggeration :) ). Not my FAV... seriously though, i puff and puff, then puff, and drag till i reach the cut-off. after a couple reps, the carto warms up, and it begins to perform... anyone else feel this way?

Are the Turbos from V9 any better/different?

I have been corresponding with Jeff @WordUp and will be placing an order with him this weekend.

[PS. can someone send me a bottle of 555, 24mg+??? pretty please? I'll pay for it if that's what it takes! I had an issue with my last order and I'm sorta SOL (read: i don't love strictlyejuice)]

Hi gang!

I haven't been on this thread in a few days and wow it moves fast! Ok so here's the latest from me... I have a SmokeStik carto that I used for 6 days that I keep forgetting to have hubby cut the tube off of so I can see the insides. Well instead of doing that I just pulled the filler out. As far as I can tell and other's have already stated this, it is much like the SLB carto in design except it has an extra center tube above the coil and no inner sock material, just the filler and there seems to be longer fiber hairs that coil is wrapped around. Those should make it wick better. I expected the filler to at least have dark marks from the gunk that builds on the coil, but much to my surprise there wasn't a single mark at all. No gunk marks, no burns, nothing! Also the filler is very different feeling than the filler in the SLB 510s. Don't know how to explain it, but it seems more course.

So after washing out the filler and drying it again I attempted to put it back like Yankee did. Unfortunately I am not that talented and I could not get it back down in the tube and around the coil like it needs to be. Needless to say my carto did not work very well. Next time I'll try washing one out without removing the filler. I've never had luck with washing out cartos and reusing them, but these just may work.

Since I had such good luck with that carto at 3.7 volts I decided to experiment a little. I got out a new SmokeStik carto and put it on my Buzz and set the voltage up to 4.9 volts. My cartos came prefilled with menthol so any higher on the voltage and the menthol would kill me LOL. Yankee and Lori are very right, these cartos are impressive and well worth the extra cost!! I've only had this one on for a few hours but it's doing great. Heavy vapor, fantastic flavor and the best part, NO BURNING. At least not so far. I'm going to keep using it like this and see how it does. I know a lot of people prefer 5 volts or higher and this carto may just be up for the job. Side note, I tested this carto before using it and it tested at 3.3 ohm, for those of you that are curious about that.

I still love my SLB 510s, but I'm pretty sure I would burn one fairly quickly if I used it at 4.9 volts like I'm using the SS carto. Might have to try it next go around just to see though.

I'll report more on the SS carto at 4.9 volts after I've used it for several days. Curiosity will make me pull the filler out of this one too just to see if it has any marks so want to get good use out of it before I trash it.

Happy Vaping!!

Hi, Witchway! I had absolutely no luck trying to put the filling back into the carto. I don't have Yankee's nifty tweezers so I tried a straw.

Total disaster. I burned the thing a minute later. The second time, it was an accident; I was removing the endcap to add more juice and just happened to snag the little straw and almost pulled it out all the way. I managed to push it back into the batting, but the carto didn't work right after that and I had to throw it out because I knew I would burn it, too. That connection between the filler and the coil is very important and I don't want to mess with it. But I would like to try to figure out how to clean them. I get this funky taste after awhile (maybe 2 ml of juice through the carto) and the draw becomes hard... There's no burning, I just don't enjoy it anymore. [BTW, this is true about all the cartomizers I've ever tried (kr808, SLB 510, and 4081)]. I drowned my very first SS carto trying to wash the juice out of it, but it's possible I just didn't dry it completely afterwards. I'll try some vodka and a rinse with boiling water next time.

Yankee, FYI, I looked at the JC website, but they want me to pay 7 bucks for shipping a pair of $3 tweezers. :-x

The Smokestik carto you use, can you send me a link please, thank you
Is it a 510 or 910 fitting?
The one's I found on there site are quite expensive...
Using the Turbo's: they are great but can be better in terms of the sock burning. They rate 3.2Ohm

those are 4081 fittings, smokestik is in the suppliers forum and does offer a discount to ecf members.
your being in the netherlands would make those quite expensive and there are a few carto updates in the works with the same insides as those 4081s. if i were you i would wait a little longer.
katya, ww, lorikay, and yankee are trying to stay on top of this

Thank you tib! I too am waiting patiently for the new cartos and have money ready to spend as soon as something comes out LOL Also Steve from V4L announced yesterday that they have "Burn Proof" cartos in the works, but no ETA for them.

The SmokeStik cartos do appear to be slightly better than a stock 4081, hence the extra cost. I need to get both of them broke all the way down so I can look at the wire used for the coil and such. The filler in them is slightly different with the SS seeming to be a tad better quality. Now I did have good luck with the stock 4081 at 3.7v, it did not burn and was decent to use, however the SS one did give better flavor and vapor, but only a little better. I ordered some blank stock 4081 cartos from WordUp that I hope are here today or tomorrow so I can play some more with that style. At $8.99 for 5, the price difference may just make them better to use, plus they are blank. I also ordered some of the KR808s that are rumored to be of the same style inside as the 4081s and the SLB 510s.

This gives me something to do until the ones Lori beta tested come out for sale. I'm really anxious to see those!! Lori has been working with different suppliers to help get us better cartos and with her help I'm sure we are going to see cartos changing drastically in the next couple months *fingers crossed*

Hiya Katya! Is there a video Yankee did or written instructions on putting the filler back in? I just vaguely remember him saying he did it so I tried it. I'd like to see the nifty tweezers :)

Thanks!!! Happy Vaping!!!

don't think there was a video, but the little plastic tube that slips over the tweezers and keeps them together was just the right diameter to slip over the carto sock.
now, i have those tweezers but was not able to repeat yankee's feat.
i think it is easier to earmark a carto for a certain flavor and stick with it for the duration instead of trying to clean the carto.
