It could be a number of issues - hotspots, poor wicking, too strong juice, poor airflow... all of those will cause harshness.

Easiest one to check is making sure your airflow hole is directly in front of the coil - even as little as 1/4" off can make a difference to the harshness of the vape.

If that doesn't solve it, check for hotspots where the coil isn't making contact with the wick down the length of it. A hotspot can cause a pretty harsh vape all by itself.

You said stock coil - what do you mean by stock coil? You might consider just building another coil - see if the harshness remains. If so, try a different juice to eliminate that as a possibility.

The coil that came with the Patriot.
I'm not quite to the point of building my own coils. I'm working on it but not there yet. Takes a lot more practice than I thought it would lol.

I wouldn't call this a throat hit or harshness I mean it literally feels like fire in my throat

^^^^this. Nothing against the other responders but your problem is a hot coil. What that means is that you have a coil that is likely not in contact with the wicking material. It burns red and gives you that nasty throat hit.

You can check this by putting juice on the wick, firing it and observing the coil. You may be able to manipulate the coils with a small screwdriver but honestly I would research building your own coils. It's part of owning and using an RDA after all.

I actually can build fairly nice coils considering I have only been at it a week or so my problem comes from the wick. I'm using organic cotton and that's all I can ever taste. Burnt through a lot of juice trying to fix that issue so just went back to the stock coils.

I'll try opening the air holes see if that helps

Since you said you're using stock coil, do you mean the one who came with it?
If so you could try make your own coil instead, it sounds like an coil issue to me.

I just put Mbv Ecto Cooler 50/50 3mg in my patriot rda attached to my Maraxus Ironman clone. It's running at .8ohm with stock coil and wick. Every time I take a toot it burns my throat. It doesn't do it though when I use same liquid in my Aerotank on my Vamo V5. Anyone got any clue why and how to stop it

When I started dripping, I would make the mistake of thinking the coil was well juiced, because I was getting flavor and it didnt taste burnt really but in reality the coil needed to be more juiced and I was periodically getting dry, hits with out really realizing it and eventually would hurt my throat. Perhaps this is your issue?

Sounds like it could be the same problem I had with the patriot...not enough airflow. Vape was super concentrated...burned and made me cough.
Drilled the holes out to 5/64 and then 3/32. Problem stopped.

So drilled the holes out and it totally fixed the problem

Thanks for all the advice
