If you receive a faulty item (or even just change your mind and decide you don't want it) then it is the responsibility of the seller to pay return postage or to collect the item.
A purchaser is entitled to cancel the transaction with their credit card company and notify the seller that the item requires collection.
That's probably why everything in the UK is 50-100% more expensive than the same item in the USA. We all pay in the end.
