Hi all

i'm new here and to ecigs in general, so i had to posted here

i was looking to see if i can find any good grade PG and VG to buy.

i understood that the pharma grade PG and VG is mostly sold to companies and not to individuals

but the food grade and lower is not suitable for inhalation

saw it here

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/277267-purity-pg-vg-peg-short-version.html

i looked a lot and finally i found this VG product:

http://www.essentialdepot.com/servlet/the-110/Glycerin-Vegetable-KOSHER-USP/Detail

looks good to me.. but when looking on the PG they have it says food grade..

http://www.essentialdepot.com/servlet/the-210/Propylene-Glycol-1-Quart/Detail

and still they write on the site it's good for ecigs

so what do i do?

any suggestions?

anyone knows about where it's possible to get pharma grade GP also that ships internationally?

thanks!

thanks for the reassurance
it's good to know that i will still live in a year and half if i will use this stuff :p:headbang:

you don't care about the contaminants issue? or you just think that what's written in the first link i posted from this forum is an exaggeration

never tried to find a pharma grade PG?

thanks

Hi Mark,
The PG/VG link you posted is USP ( Pharma Grade) and that's what you want to use. Your good :)
The grading is a different story and confusing - That ECF article needs updated to be clearer in my humble opinion.

The items you list are USP grade, which is pharmaceutical grade and the only thing suggested for vaping. You're not going to find anything better than that.

From another thread:
"There is USP/EP/BP pharma grade, food grade, and industrial grade. The USP/EP/BP pharma grade is reduced to 'food' grade once it is removed from its USP/EP/BP grade container as the propylene glycol will attract water from the surrounding air (being a humectant), and its purity will perhaps be lower than that required by USP/EP/BP pharma grade due to this possibility. So whether you source pg from a cosmetic company supplying raw materials such as pg, or an e-liquid company supplying pg - you are purchasing the same propylene glycol - USP/EP/BP pharma grade reduced to food grade due to repackaging into smaller containers (unless of course you propose to buy it by the drum)."

You can purchase Glycerin USP in 6oz bottles at any local drug store in the USA. It is made by Humco and sold with labels with whatever store brand name the store wants on it.

Here is an example. I buy two of these for $10. They have an expiration date about five years later than manufacturing date, not a one year expiration date. These have the same USP grade as a factory drum of USP. It is a factory sealed bottle that has not been repackaged in open air, reducing the shelf life to one year.

Once opened, use within one year. Sealed, store it up to five years away from direct light and without refrigeration.

Again, these are actual factory bottles of Glycerin USP: not repackaging jobs, not "food grade". Look at the expiration dates and lot numbers on each bottle.

Basically, anyone can order a 55-gallon drum of Glycerin USP, roll it into their garage, screw off the plug, stick a siphon or pump hose into it and fill up 55 one gallon jugs for resale. However, once the seal on that drum has been cracked and the contents exposed to open air it is no longer Glycerin USP and can't be sold as such. Unsealed and exposed to air it can no longer be stored for up to five years. It's still good glycerin for a while, but the end user should use it up within about a year.

So is that the same for people who order DIY supplies from people like ED, or WL??
