So...I have three weeks in now of no smoking and been vaping on my halo triton. I first got the starter kit with Malibu and Tribecca at 12ml. Loved them, and not smoking, so I ordered a VV from halo, a new tank, backup coils, and a variety sampler the next week. Then the next week I ordered the gourmet sampler pack a 30ml of tribecca and midnight apple, two new tanks, and voodoo 7ml. So Ive spent about $240 roughly. I seem to always spend about 80 bucks to get the free shipping, and I love using the 10% off code.

I smoked about 5 packs/week X $6/pack = $30/week = $120/month

So Im guessing these three purchases should last longer than two months, but Im afraid Im gonna wanna buy more goodies...I just would like some advice from people who think if I should slow down from their experience or just go with the flow and try some new products when Ive done research and have waited at least another week or two.

I dont really mind spending about the same amount I used to (analytically) and in a super healthier way, but I don't want to get so much I start wasting money when I should be enjoying what I already have. Thoughts?

There are a few factors coming into play on this one. In the beginning it pretty normal to spend a bit of money getting a stock pile started, experimenting and finding what you like and ensuring you have enough supplies on hand to be overly cautious - this levels out fairly quickly.

The other factor I found with my own quit smoking adventure was that in the beginning perusing vape gear and buying things (that were necessary albeit not *immediate* need) because it helped me keep my focus off of smoking. I used a combination of "vape the cravings away" and "shop to distract yourself from smoking" lol. Once I was in about 2-3 months, it all levelled out. Now i buy juice - maybe 100 bucks a month to be extremely indulgent (which pays for myself and the other half). $100 for 2 people is certainly less than I spent smoking on just me :)

Alright when you put it that way let me find my wallet and confirm this purchase...lol jk, but I probably will end up getting a mod soon and more juices...cause thats the next step, right? But thanks creepy lady and leo k for the support, about start up costs and spending it on my health, makes my justification for that third order completely valid.

This is a hard one, because no one but you knows your financial situation. While I was fortunate enough to have discovered e cigarettes and vaping right around tax time, which afforded me pretty much whatever I wanted at the time, I think in some respects I also wasn't as cautious as I could have been. Doing research is good, while I've learned though, is only as good as the research material, if that makes sense! I was fortunate also to be able to see through the "world's best e cig" reviews and did initially invest in a good "cig a like" kit from Halo even, but knowing what I know now after a few months of vaping, I definately would have done a lot of things differently! Luckily I've since been able to pass that kit to my mother and did upgrade to some exceptional vaping gear! I too initially upgraded to a Halo Triton, but I received a defective product that just wasn't up to par IMHO with even their G6 "cig a like" kit! Their customer service was outstanding though, and accepted the return and offered a full refund.

I also discovered very early on after trying a number of different "top coil tanks" that tanks with top coils and long wicks weren't for me! As a matter of fact I'm very picky about which kind of tanks and coils work for me after initially discovering Kanger tanks! Aside from rebuildables my go to tank is their Aerotank, (NOT the brand new one!) For me they have been the only thing with stock coils that hits well and is virtually trouble free! Cleaning, maintenance, all a breeze, something that is important for someone who is new to vaping and especially newly off smokes!

It wasn't until after I had already ventured into mods and APV's that I discovered the Evod/Evod 2 kits and I thought wow, had only I discovered this initially I would have skipped the whole "cig a like" kits all together! Do I regret ANY of my vaping purchases, NOPE! The stuff I've moved on from I simply passed on to friends and family members who now have an interest in vaping and quitting smoking, but I mostly assuredly would have done things a bit differently given hind sight. These days I have started to become more selective. I've been fortunate to have found the EXCEPTIONAL juice vendor Nicoticket, about the only juices I vape anymore, besides the occasional new vendors/flavors I try out for curiosity, but nothing has come even close, nor do I really expect it too! There's lots of stuff I'd like to try, especially after my interest moved into mechs and rebuildables, but after a lot of research I decided a Reo and Reomizer 2 is what's right for me, since I like prefer my "Nicocrack" err Nicoticket lol dripped, but with small children constant refilling simply isn't practical nor desirable! I also have to remind myself that part of the reason I wanted to quit smoking was because I wanted to enjoy "life" with my family better so despite this all turning into a hobby for me, which again, I enjoy and don't regret, I am starting to become a bit more "balanced" with it and getting back into my life, while enjoying it smoke free! Hope this helps, and congrats on your success!

We've spent a lot. But we also quickly got into rebuildables, and it took a while to find juice we loved. Its an investment. Our spending is now balancing back out.
I'm REALLY having a hard time finding juice I like. Right now I have one that I LOVED, Strawberry Banana Smoothie. I've been vaping it the whole time and now can't really taste it (kinda like my cigarettes didn't taste like anything, couldn't tell they were menthol unless I smoked one that wasn't). I have a bottle of Mr. Van Illa that I can stand in small doses. I WISH I could find some !!

to the OP...Once I switched off the Blu's and went into the B&M to get an EGO, it was like someone shot me out of a cannon. Now I want every Mech. mod there is, along with all the RDA's, LoL

Me too. Batteries/Mod's etc not so much a problem, but juices are a bit of a problem. I have bought a load of different fruits juices over 5 months trying to find something that I could vape near enough all day, but I find them mostly a bit bland, and don't really taste like they are supposed to. I tried mixing various flavours, but most of them just ended up down the sink. :)

It seems I have a sweet tooth, and have found cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, iced cake, caramel coffee, butterscotch to name a few that I rather do like, although the cheesecake/strawberry cheesecake are so far the only two I can vape away near enough a tank full (I don't mess about when at home on a vaping session) on my Nautilus during the whole day. :)

So basically, I find the hardest bit is trying to find juices I can use all the time, or some that are ok half the time. So I have a collection of fruits, like strawberry, pineapple, pear, peach, apple, juicey apple etc, that are near enough obsolete.

But that's just me.......hard to please sometimes.

For me it was important to keep trying (and buying) different stuff and try different tastes to keep it interesting in the beginning, otherwise I would just have gone back to smoking, the vape in it self was just not satisfying enough. And with a lot of money invested in it, I felt like I needed to get my moneys worth.

After a month or so when I lost my cravings and had found some tanks I liked and had over a liter of ejuice (mostly DIY), I told myself "okay that's enough, I know that there are better stuff out there but this will do, lets see how long it will last me". 2 months since that day and I haven't felt the need to buy anything else. I also stocked up on coils to last me a year or 2 so it would really be a waste if I switched to something else. :)

Lucky for me, I quite smoking as soon as I left the shop where I bought my first kit, and I had been smoking since about 1957.:)

I didn't even try tobacco flavours, as I didn't want reminders of ciggies and rollups, so stuck to flavoured juices, mainly fruit ones. I have a collection that I rarely use now as I have gone for the 'bakery' type juices like, cheesecake/strawberry cheesecake and a few others.
The cheesecakes I can vape on all day with my Nautilus without getting bored, but Butterscotch or Caramel Toffee is a few hours only juice.

So I am still experimenting with new flavours and eagerly await the postie when I know some new ones are on their way for me to try out.

I did try a cigarette in January, about a month later from quiting, and after 3 puffs I had to stub it out, as it tasted like licking an old ashtray. That made me happy because I then knew I had given up completely, and vaping is now my new a happy hobby for 5 months now.

It is normal to spend more when starting, like others have said, you need to find juice and gear you like.

I too started with a halo triton starter kit and a sampler pack and spare coils.
I liked some of the juices in the sample pack, so my next order was almost $200 on juice, more batts, more coils, more tanks, and a VV battery.

When I was running low on that juice, whick lasted me a few months I started branching out, got a sample pack from AiV, and fell in love with fruit and dessert flavors she makes, mind you my triton gear was still rock solid and never gave me a problem, which helped in the ability to quit analogs.

Next I went to a local B&M called Flash Vapor, he sold Durasmoke Juice atm, I found I liked them too ( green apple, peach, fruit smoothie, pina colada so far) I also picked up a kanger mini protank 2 and a ego battery, allways wanted to try bottom coil glass tank.
They were awesome( the tank) however the ego batteries did not last nearly as long as my halos.
So I carried 1 halo triton setup and 1 protank2 setup, found juice I liked from 3 different USA vendors, I was doing great.

Next visit to the B&M I started looking at the Mods( kato hammer, and some other beautiful peices)
I said I dont really need to spend that kind of money, my halo and protank work great

I get a call from Flash Vapor, he tells me he just got new juices in, I run down to sample some flavors, AND
In the case he has an e-fire wooden setup, I looked at it for a good while, watched a review, it was beautiful.
It had a dragon carven into the battery, I could not leave without it.( need to find a big bottom coil glass tank for it as I dont really like top coils and plastic anymore

So now at about 7 months into vaping I have found juice I love, gear I like.
I kept 1 halo triton, 1 protank2 mini and my new awesome efire mod, the rest I donated to my brothers and cousins to see if it can help them quit smoking.

It took me about a year of buying and trying out new gear before I found something that I've pretty much settled on. Last thing on my list is a DNA30 device. After that I'm pretty much done on the hardware side of vaping.

Now, I've not only been buying stuff for myself, I've been trying to make my wife happy as well. Between us we've gone though the usual overpriced cigalikes, several Egos, the Halo Tritons, a pair of Innokin SVDs, Nemesis and 69 mech mods, a Smoktech Kick and Evolv Kick2, iClear 30, iClear 30s, Kanger Aerotank, 3 Kayfuns, an Igo-L, and a Trident V2.

Figure about $700 in total.

Out of all of that, the only things that I consistently use today are the Halo Triton and the Nemesis with either the Aerotank or one of the Kayfuns. Once in a while I'll break out the Trident just for the fun of it or the Igo-L to try out a new coil build before throwing it on a Kayfun.

My wife uses either a Halo Triton or the 69 with a Kick and iClear 30S tank.

Have those of you who haven't really found a great juice vendor tried Nicoticket? Kent and Katy the owners are FABULOUS! I too had given up on tobacco flavors and relied instead of what I had thought at the time to be pretty good dessert and sweet vapes....until I kept hearing about how good they were so I thought ok, I'll bite, but pretty much preparing in my mind for them just to be good at best, but nothing to compare them to something you see when a plumber bends over, hehe! After trying their H1N1 aka "The Virus" I knew I too was infected! It does taste like tobacco, but it doesn't, it's difficult for me to explain but it's just EXCELLENT and it tastes better than an smoke ever did, and then some! Since then I've tried Grandmother's Cinnamon Danish, (in my top 3), Radioactive (my second top 3), and another tobacco "ish" flavor I think, Peanut Butter Cookie (my NEW #1 top 3, I'm in LOVE with!), Creme Brulee, another favorite, Custard's Last Stand, Frenilla, a VERY popular among users and one of the short runs that are only avail for a limited time, as is the PBC, (I'll be stocking up shortly!), Rasberry Cupcake, a VERY generous member on here was kind enough to send me a sample of this beings as I missed out on the limited batch of samples that were sent out by request I believe...and Doodle, which is great, but I prefer GCD personally!

To be honest I have YET to try one that I DON'T like, and I even prefer mixing and matching like a mad scientist trying to come up with new combo's that I like all the time lol! As I mentioned I love the flavor I get with dripping but right now I only have the smaller 510 attys. I've decided to save my money up to invest in a Reo and a Reomizer as well as a Viscous Ant Cyclone Atomizer, one of the few bottom feeder atty's that works with a Reo. Don't let it's limited nature or steep price tag detour you from looking into it though if you like dripping, (who wouldn't??)! It's built like a brick, unique, easy to use, and NOTHING on the market compares in terms of providing you with absolutely the best vape without having to refill constantly, supposedly from the research I've done on it and the people who used them (Reonauts lol!), swear by them, and it's even Kent "approved" ha! ;)

If you think you're spending a lot wait till you get to APV's and Rebuildables! That's were I want to invest my money now as for one high quality vaping gear seems to hold it's value VERY well! One only has to go to all the higher end vaping stores and try and find some of the new and popular mods! Check out what mods go for on the classys! However I belong to several FB Buy, Sell and Trade groups, Vape Trader and of course check the ECF's regularly! It was actually due to ECF's classified rules that I decided to get more involved in ECF, but that's a good thing and the rules make me and others I'm sure a lot more assured about doing business through them!

As it stands now I have a few Kanger Evod Kit's and a few similar ones through Eonsmoke. I got the genuine Evods from Ebay along with my Aerotank, one of my favorites as I previously mentioned. I picked up the Evod 2 for a great deal at Vape Dojo and an Evod VV, another EXCELLENT kit offered by Steam Monkey that came with a variable voltage 1100 mah Evod in sharp stainless steel, charger, a Kanger Protank Mini 2 and a 306 dripping atty, all for just 35! For mods I got the complete Innokin VV/VW V3 complete kit with 5 tanks, USB and Wall plug, all for 35, an Innokin VTR kit in a NICE case for 60, an Innokin Cool Fire 2 for 60 all on Ebay as well, and the price has since dropped even further on several of these mods!

Fasttech is another great place to experiment with vaping supplies if you don't mind waiting and buying from China, (good luck in the vaping world if you don't! lol) ;) I haven't had ANY problems so far, and for the prices I don't mind if something doesn't work out! I also get my coils and cartos sometimes at Discountvapers.com, Sure-vapes, and as of recently a shop on Ebay called Lightning Bolts, who sells 5/5 packs of dual coils for $33.96, the cheapest I've found them anywhere @ 6.79 a pack, plus free shipping! However now I've started rebuilding them, which is really the cheapest way to go, but tastes and performs MUCH better! For rebuilding supplies I go to Amazon, Kidney Puncher and Ebay, mainly and depending upon what it is.

I've also signed up for The Drip Club, ZampleBox, and Craft Vapery, juice subscription clubs and most recently I got invited to be a member of Vapebox, (finally wohoo!) a little bit different subscription as they add hardware as well as juice to their boxes, for a nominal fee of course lol! Yes, it all adds up, but just three of the juice subscription boxes are what I paid for in smokes for 2 weeks which left me as someone else said, nothing but BUTTS and ASH!! I wanted to try the juice boxes out to find some new juices I liked, and my husband really likes them, but as I also mentioned I'm pretty much sold and spoiled by Nicoticket, and the bar is set pretty high in coming close to being as good as theirs IMHO! I thought I'd try all of them out to see which was the best value and which I liked the best and even though their great, don't get me wrong, (Craft Vapery even adds custom M&M's and I love the stickers all of them include!),
I'm either going to downgrade to one subscription and would rather spend my money on NT and hardware, haha!

Just to give you an idea of how much I like NT juices, I bought some juices from Aroma E-juices, another great vendor, that sells WTA juice as well, (Nicoticket sells NET, a bit diff btw!) around the same time as one of my orders from Nicoticket last week, (yes, sometimes I order multiple times throughout the week, esp. with butterscotch's SR dropping! LOL), but anyways I got their package the same day a few days ago and it's sitting here in my vaping area still unopened in the box and occasionally calling out to me, "Hey, are you going to get me out of here and try me, have you forgotten about ME???" Hahahaha, but see Peanut Butter Cookie came and I opened it first and I have been BLOWN away by it every since!!! I'm sorry for making this a book, and essentially turning it into a "Nicoticket is the !@#$" post, LOL, but it's part of the "infection" I guess....
