I recently purchased a whole bunch of stuff online to get into DIY, but (based on recs here) decided to just buy my VG locally. Yesterday, I visited two Walmarts, one Walgreens, and one CVS and still cannot find VG, but that is only part of the point of my post.

The main reason I am posting is because of the reactions I have received while trying to find VG on the shelves of these stores. To preface this, I could never find VG while scouring the store shelves so had to ask for assistance each time.

First Walmart: Asked at pharmacy, young clerk called pharmacist over who gruffly told me they "were out of it" and walked away.

Second Walmart: Again to the pharmacy, experienced, older clerk says "I need to get the pharmacist." He promptly came over and asked me what I was using it for. I was honest, and THEN he told me they were waiting on stock. I asked him why he asked me if they were out of it and he said he was curious because they have been selling a lot.

Walgreens: Asked pharmacy clerk, she'd never heard of it. She asked pharmacist and they sent me to Cosmetics. Cosmetic clerk told me "they are always sending customers looking for glycerin over here, but Walgreens decided to stop selling it a few months ago."

CVS: "We no longer sell glycerin."

Am I so naive and out of touch that I do not know that vegetable glycerin MAY be used for worse reasons? WTH? Can BOMBS be made from this stuff? The fact that these places stopped selling it and the reactions that I got when requesting it really floored me.

Anyone else having trouble buying VG at your local stores? If not, please post tips! Thanks.

Thats kinda weird.I just seen it in all those places in the past week here where Im located. But,I dont buy it from them as I can get it cheaper from wizzard labs, even with the shipping if I buy in quantity. For instance,I just bought 110.00 worth of suppiles from them a week ago and got free shipping. That batch of supplies included PG,VG,and 100 mg nic, enough to make over 3,000 ml of my DIY menthol...:)...free shipping kicks in at 67.00
Bucky

edited to add:they are in FL and will allow pickup..if yer close enough ya might can get the same day...call them

Ooh, you just gave me an idea for my next mod!

Actually, the only thing I can think of is you can make Molotov Cocktails from it, but you can also use much cheaper and readily available ingredients for that.

Ha! I KNEW that someone would let me know about other uses for this product. (Will withhold this info from my 12-yr-old grandson.)

For all the other replies, thanks, and I actually have an order delivering tomorrow from Wizards Lab that will give me rest of the stuff needed for juicing-my-own (jmo), but I did not include VG in the order because I thought I could buy it locally.

Lesson learned, will not repeat ... but still will investigate why VG is not available locally.

THANKS so much for your feedback. I learn so much much every time I visit.

I buy my usp glycerin at the cvs across the street from me. The pharmacy doesn't carry it, you have to go to the skin lotions aisle and it's usually on the bottom shelf.

I made the mistake of asking the pharmacy and the pharmacist looked at me funny when I mentioned I wanted to use for ejuice for my ecig. Then I continued searching and that's when I found it. It's only $5 and change.

Target doesn't carry it at all.

Good luck.

I had trouble finding glycerin at the beginning of the summer. The clerk at Walmart told me that lots of summer camps buy it out to make bubbles with their campers. I guess they use it to thicken up home made bubble mix? Pretty nefarious! Last time I went to buy it, it was in stock though.

ETA: found this explanation. "Glycerin - Glycerin is the secret additive that gives a bubble its extra strength. Don't be too shocked by the price on a bottleof high quality glycerin. Contact the pharmacist at your local grocery store for availability. (Note: Some bubble recipes substitute Karo® Syrup for glycerin due to the expense and availability of glycerin.)"

When I asked for Glycerin at the Walgreens they guided me to some suppositories in the laxative section lol. At some Walmarts the Humco brand is in the skin care and others in the first aid section by the band aids. Asking associates in either store produces anything from suspicious looks to "deer in the headlights" looks. Either way you ain't gonna get any help. PG is available by the gallon at Tractor Supply. If you're in East Central Florida there is an ecig B&M store that carries both in Edgewater.

Experienced same problem in trying to purchase PG (not so much hassle with VG for some reason) when I started. Now I use Wizard Labs as well.

I'd rather get it from Wizzard because of the grade but a lot of people use the gallon from Tractor Supply that's used as a mix in cattle feed. I wouldn't consider asking for PG again. Even the pharmacists still give you a shocked look and say "that's anti freeze!!". Last time I told one there's water in anti freeze too but I'm not going to stop drinking that either.

I went into the Riteaid and couldn't find it. The sales dude kept asking me if I was finding what I needed, and finally told him what I was after. He had no clue either. Ended up empty handed. Gene went to the CVS to pick up a prescription, I asked him to ask the pharmacist for it and if the pharmicist asked him what it was for to tell them he had no idea, that his silly wife wanted some for something or other. They told him they didn't have it.

Next time I will look by the band aids, thanks for the heads up.

UPDATE: I finally found glycerin at a CVS in the next town over from me, but it was in the Beauty section where the acne creams and ointments are located and it was way down on the bottom shelf. In the future, I will just order online from Wizard Lab. They are only a couple hundred miles from me and delivery is quick.

Can't wait to get off work in a couple of hours to start a mixing party tonight.

Is Wizzard's a higher grade than the USP at Tractor Supply? (The grade that is acceptable to be mixed with toothpaste is a lower grade than the PG at TC.)
