I don't think the State has the power to decide this. This is up to the FDA and the federal courts to decide. If that bill goes through I would probably fire up a civil suit stating that the State of California is attempting to override federal statutes. It's almost identical to the medical ......... issue but instead of legalizing they are illegalizing. Legalizing ......... for medical use but banning e-cigs? That makes no .......ing sense to me, especially when there is no evidence that e-cigs are more harmful than tobacco or even ........., although there is evidence that proves they are much SAFER (google the results of the testing done in New Zealand on the safety of e-cigs).

just one more instance of the government trying to screw with our liberties, although i can see an upside to this, necessity being the mother of invention, someone is bound to invent an easy way to make a homemade atomizer, which wouldn't be illegal according to this bill, and neither would e-liquid, it only bans the device, and not the vaporized nicotine solution, so we'll all become modders and get really good at soldering, it wouldn't be that bad.

My boyfriend knows how to solder, but I really don't want to have to go that route! I'm going to read more about this. In the meantime, I am truly disturbed by the things legislators choose to focus on. I mean I have potholes the size of a small village on a major boulevard, in an upscale neighborhood? WTF!

They need to do thier job, not make it LOOK like they are doing their job.

I will shoot somebody an e-mail this weekend. I have to find some cartos for next week!

I do not think that this would be an issue due to the scumbags that let my brother and sister out multiple times for drug possession. This will be less than their possession of Mari-Jane, or pillZ. Brother has been to prison 3 times, sister is finally clean but fried her brain. Keeping these two behind bars and forcing longer sober periods would have been better for them. <Guts Spilled>

(What are they going to do: "OK I need you to pour that out in the dirt and grind it with your foot!"? I'll be getting fake wall socket safes and such, Those BASTAGES!!!)

EDIT: A wrist slap, if even that, like they do for drug users.

I don't want to be treated like a drug user for using a drug that is legal to use in a MORE DANGEROUS FORM!

We should march on the capital before the vote or something, this is not okay!

I understand this being illegal for minors, of course it should be, but for adults to use A LEGAL SUBSTANCE in a different form, to be illegal, is just dumb. To waste tax dollars on enforcement would be a travesty!

Ironically, shortly before I started vaping (and thus quit the analogs entirely), I moved to California's District 10. Ellen Corbett is "my" State Senator.

As of today, CAL-LAW shows no change in the bill other than it being assigned to the Health Committee. Now, this probably just means it hasn't been heard by the Committee yet, so there has been no opportunity to amend (as a previous poster said Corbett was going to do).

That being said, I'm going to keep an eye on this; status link here:

SB 882 Assembly Bill - Status

I think local SF Bay Area vapers should consider attending her "Walking Town Hall" on April 10th. Be polite - catch more flies with sugar than ... you know.

Unfortunately, I won't be attending... I'll be in Reno at my bachelor's party.

But my snail-mail letter is on the way (snail-mail has more impact, especially from a constituent)...

Yeah, I think most retail sellers will go by the common-sense "nicotine product, thus 18+ to buy PV products" mode even if there is not a specific law against it (this is yet another example of "legislation is a trailing trend, not a leading one" reality-based model of governance).

Still no official movement of the bill, although - again - it's likely it hasn't been read in committee yet so nothing will be posted until it is read and amendments proposed/accepted. That is not to say that "verbal" negotiation isn't happening in the "cloak-rooms" even now... but as the song says, "It don't mean nothin' 'till you sign it on the dotted line".
