As of Yesterday, SB 882 in California has been amended. Taken out was all the language declaring the ecig to be a "drug", that was really only a leftover from SB 400 that was vetoed last year.

Now the bill actually only says what Corbett announced she wanted to do with it - and that is to prohibit sales to minors.

Nobody has a problem with this but the wording is still full of incendiary language and half truths intended to convey an "us good people vs. the forces of evil" feel.

I find this part pretty difficult to believe. All they left out was how the retailers was wearing a trench coat and holding a puppy.

(5) County tobacco control programs have reported the attempted
sale of electronic cigarettes to minors at shopping malls. Throughout
the state, retailers have established shopping mall kiosks near food
courts and stores frequented by adolescents. At these kiosks,
retailers target teens with pitches for electronic cigarettes with
flavored cartridges.

pssst pssst!!! hey kid! instead of smoking a $5 dollar pack of cigs gimme $85 for this starter kit!!! I mean come on, who do they think they are fooling?

These guys are such accomplished liars without any sort of moral compass that they just can't help but lie even when the truth would serve just as well.

It's part and parcel with being a politician.

LOL...

Here are my favorite parts of this amended bill:
"Existing law requires cities and counties to revoke the license of a business
that engages in human cloning, as specified."

And more on topic:
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. (a) The Legislature hereby finds and
declares all of the following:
(4) Since electronic cigarettes are not regulated at the federal,
state, or local level, they can be legally sold to minors.

But then section 2 goes on to say that any business that sells or gives 2 or more e-cigs to minors can have their business licence revoked..
