I am a full time guitarist/instructor. I have made my living from music for almost 10 years now, but that might have to change since I am spending almost every extra penny on e-smoking stuff. And there aren't very many extra pennies....

I am in 2 rock bands....

Fender amps.....but I want to buy an Orange. Assorted pedals.

I played some gigs over the weekend and was vaping away backstage. I had to explain what it was about 30 times.
It was decidedly less rock and roll than smoking an analog lol.

I'm now taking my Musician side and mixing it with my Tech Gadget/Computer Geek side and teaching myself how to DJ with hopes to produce eventually.

i have a washburn acoustic and a bc rich electric guitars,zoom and fostex studios etc,,

just listened to some of that music on your nate wilson group site and it sounds great,,
im a sabbath fan and mostly old metal but i like led zeppelin also.
your band has an awesome zeppelin influenced sound..

I betcha that Gibson comes in handy for your jazz nerd hankerings. Love that tone on the Gibsons.. Very rich. Very nice. I'm sure you're a nice fellow, but I only hang with the acoustic guys. Hubby plays a Taylor 815 and a Martin D18.

Thanks Obi, glad you dig it. We actually do a cover of The Wizard sometimes. Sabbath is truly some awesome old-school metal.

Yes when I'm working on the jazz stuff I use the Gibson mostly. I'd like to get a full archtop, but they are prohibitively expensive. A nice custom built electric archtop could cost anywhere from 8 to 10K!!!

Maybe in the next life.....

I thought it would be cool to start a thread and see how many of us vape heads are musicians.

I've been studying music for 30+ years. I'm primarily a guitar player, but I also play bass, keys, and I played sax throughout grade school and high school.

I play Parker & Schecter Guitars. I currently play through a Line 6 HD 147 300 watt modeling head and I use both Line 6 and Marshall cabs.

I'd love to hear from other musicians out there. I'd especially like to hear from you if your in Cincy as I'm always looking to network with local musicians.

I am a bassist and guitarist. I play mostly 6 string bass and have a Washburn XB-600, as well as a Dean 4 string acoustic. I focus mainly on funk and slap but I have been known to do improv, jam band stuff, jazz, and rock. I have been playing for about 16 years now. I am a musician and proud to be! It's the most fun I have next to drawing. I like to sing a lot, and I'm working on some music with my boyfriend who plays guitar and hand drum. I'm also trying out some piano work and electronic synths and such.

I started playing guitar when I was 11, mostly just playing along with records and playing from those huge anthology of hits they used to sell, reading the chord charts. Didn't lear to read music. Played alot of pop, folk....Jim Croce was my favorite.

Fast forward...
In my 20's I was a commercial music major. I had to choose an instrument and I chose classical guitar but I also sang. I was really into the studio stuff (before digital) too. The performance part was really scary stuff but I loved practicing my exercises around campus. I carried that damn guitar and practiced those pieces ever spare minute I had. Learning to read music was sooooo hard.

Unfortunately, real life reared it's ugly head and I had to quit school and get to work supporting my son. I continued to play and practice my pieces for about 10 years, playing less and less.

I can't for the life of me remember any of the classical pieces that I painstakingly memorized for our recitals. I've tried to pick it back up but my brain is telling my fingers I know the song and my fingers are telling my brain to piss off.

However, I still own two guitars: My Fender classical that has a beautiful warm round tone, and my Mogran Monroe that I bought about 5 years ago because it was "pretty" (inlaid mother of pearl beautiful burled woodd) and the action and tone on it are great and I was going to "pick up playing again."

On another note: (HA!) Since I started vaping my voice and breath control are much better and my range is returning. I'll never be an Idol but at least the dogs don't howl.

I've been singing since I learned to talk and used to be in an a capella vocal jazz group. I really miss those days. I travel too much now to be able to commit to performances.

I also play piano/keyboard by ear (badly), but it helps me practice!

I own 6 guitars, but really only play my 2004 LP Santa Fe Sunrise
But I did recently get the new Mackie Hotwire combo amp which is absolutely insane at 25 lbs and 120watts (my back thanked me)

We only do originals, and we got a ways to go....
It is hard getting 5 middle aged guys together every tuesday at 5:00!

Like some others here, I don't have an acoustic kit. Roland Td-3. Not the best electronic kit on the market, but it does the job just fine. I also have a nice little Roland SP-606 sampler and need to get my act together and start making some of my own bizarre drum sounds.

We like our TD-6 Roland kit ALOT!
Allows us to vary the volume for any venue!
Love some of the 99 kits in the module!!!
