thank you!!! yes he's super fat but such an attention hog along with my shih tzu. They will both jump on your lap for attention and won't leave you alone lol but I love them. I have 3 cats, a dog, 2 birds, a rabbit and an aquarium. Almost got a chinchilla but I stopped myself.

Birds. Ya got me there. Can't do birds. Rabbits, we've had aplenty over the years. The girls seem to draw them like iron filings to a magnet.
Suzy i have found through the years when you put a cat and dog together in the same house they will eventually get along because they have no choice lol. But thats only been my expierence.
I've been thinking about getting a fish aquarium! Sounds boring, but it's a ton of work to get one up and running!!
I don't have the time to take care of any furry friends, unfortunately. And after losing both my doggeh and my parent's cat (I grew up with him) in the last 6 or so months, I can't bring myself to adopt any more pets.

Funny, I have a little Manchester Terrier... When he is outside, he terrorizes cats... I witnessed him catching a cat in our back yard once, it was like a horror/slasher movie...
So, I thought for sure getting a cat was totally out of the question, nada mas, can't happen... The dog will eat the cat...
Towards the end of last year the wife and kids started bothering me about getting another pet... And of course, they wanted a cat... I love cats, but I know my little Rusty hates them with a Shakespearian passion... LoL
We went to Petco one day and they had a rescue kitty in there... An older tuxedo colored domestic short hair... We had Rusty with us, so we asked the folks there if we could get them together and see how they act around each other...
Thee cat started rubbing on the dog, and they have some kind of weird dog / cat man on man love affair going now. They get along brilliantly. They cuddle each other, sleep together, beg together... It's quite fascinating, especially considering that my dog still hates all other cats, but he LOVES "HIS" cat...
Strange how animals get along fine with each other as long as they live in the same house...

Glad you liked it... You can see me and my little dog on pages 64 and 66 of this thread... You missed a lot last night LoLI know how you feel adeline.. It's been 3 years since Peanut's sudden death.. And I still have feelings of guilt about getting another and forget about adopting and shelters .. I tear up instantly going in there and my heart breaks for each of them .. Want to take them all home.. What is wrong with people? They buy puppies and kittens impulsively without knowing anything about the specific breed and its needs then 6 months later they're not so little and cute and cuddly and housebreaking and training was not as easy as they thought? So just dump them at the shelter? ...! Can you just throw your kids away cause they misbehave?!?! Sorry I got carried away.. It's just you know there are no bad pets .. Just bad people.

an aquarium really is what you make it. It's a hobby all in itself (my hobby before vaping). I have some upside down catfish that actually swim upside down so cool to look at.

This is so true... I really despise people who can just toss out a pet on the street like common trash...
When we got our cat, while he did indeed love his new dog friend, he didn't like his new people very much at all... If you got near him he would hiss and swat and scratch and bite... You know, standard cat hate... No purring, no loving, if we were in the room he would leave... Unless him and the dog were having sweet man cuddles, then he would stay til the dog jumped on the couch...
After a few months of unconditional love, he is a big fat ham now... You come in the room and he MUST be next to you, and meows loud as hell til you pick him up... As soon as you touch him his purr motor starts running out of control... LoL... It took some effort, but he is a total people cat now...
All it takes is good pet parenting... You brought him into your home, not the other way around...Some people just expect them to behave the way they want them to without considering how mentally traumatizing it must be for a little animal to get displaced from a shelter to a new home... I'm sure he was scared out of his mind for a good week or two...
((hugs)) Took me years to get another pet after killer died (little b&w cat that fetched). I have 2 cats now, and I'm still paranoid that they will get sick & die too.
