Vaping has worked for many people to help them to quit smoking. You may need to experiment a bit to find the hardware and eliquid flavors that work best for you, but, right now, vaping is still able to be customized to fit our individual needs.
My daughter and I quit smoking, cold turkey, around 11 years ago. It was hard, and neither of us really wanted to quit but we could not afford for both of us to smoke with the "sin" taxes going up to the point where a carton of generic cigarettes cost more than branded cigarettes had cost just a year or so before. The desire to smoke never quite left either of us. Around 5 years ago, stress and cravings were driving both of us to the point where we were ready to start smoking again. My daughter had heard about ecigarettes somewhere. We researched what we could. We hemmed and hawed. What if it did not work? What if we spent a boatload of money only to find that we did not like it (at that time a basic cigalike starter kit cost as much as or more than a carton of cigarettes)? We debated between ourselves - we were proud that we were no longer smokers, but the cravings were getting more and more intense. My daughter finally broke down and got herself a Blu disposable. I told her to get one for me, too. The darned things actually worked. I was the biggest skeptic that a fake cigarette would be able to quell my desire to smoke. Boy, was I ever wrong.
Vaping is not a be all, end all solution. Vaping does not work for everyone. However, it is definitely worth trying, especially if you have tried other ways of quitting (cold turkey, the patch, gums and candies, etc.) to no avail. Do some research. Look at the various vendors here on ECF. Look at the hardware available - do you think clouds of vapor will help you quit, or are you just looking to somewhat mimic the draw and satisfaction of a cigarette? Think about your budget - initial outlay can run from fairly cheap to REALLY expensive. However, once you have found equipment and eliquids that work for you, costs will go down. Ask questions - most of us here on ECF are former smokers, and use a vast variety of equipment. We will do our very best to help you get what you need, within your budget.
