thanks a lot for sharing with me about your experience, comparing with the harms from smoking, vaping sounds a very good choice.I did quit smoking through e-cigs. Now I am laying off the e-cig. Its much easier to overcome the nicotine drag once you move on to ecigs from cigarettes. While you are on the e-cig, you will realize how much non-nicotine addictives were added to cigarettes. I noticed so much less desire for cigarettes once I moved on with the help of e-cig. One thing to add is that the e-cig also does harm. I had terrible throat condition while vaping and that is essentially why I am quitting the entire nicotine products. No more desire for either vaping or cigarette now. I've smoke for more than 12 yrs. Vaping took me about 1.5 years to quit. I definitely recommend.

Thanks very much. My father has smoked for nearly 40 years, so you know, i am worried about his health so much. dual use sounds aceeptable for him, thanks. Many have been successful doing so. I've been smoke free for almost 5 weeks by substituting vaping.
There are many ways to use vaping to help quit smoking. You can switch to vaping entirely or you can dual use.
Some continue dual using. Some use vaping to ween off nicotine, also. Some continue using nicotine in their ejuice.
The key is to find what works for you.
Are there any questions you have in particular?
cannot agree more, thanks a lot.I works for many but not all people.
Thank you very much once more, i am impressed by the story and experience of you and your daughter. best wishes to you both.Vaping has worked for many people to help them to quit smoking. You may need to experiment a bit to find the hardware and eliquid flavors that work best for you, but, right now, vaping is still able to be customized to fit our individual needs.
My daughter and I quit smoking, cold turkey, around 11 years ago. It was hard, and neither of us really wanted to quit but we could not afford for both of us to smoke with the "sin" taxes going up to the point where a carton of generic cigarettes cost more than branded cigarettes had cost just a year or so before. The desire to smoke never quite left either of us. Around 5 years ago, stress and cravings were driving both of us to the point where we were ready to start smoking again. My daughter had heard about ecigarettes somewhere. We researched what we could. We hemmed and hawed. What if it did not work? What if we spent a boatload of money only to find that we did not like it (at that time a basic cigalike starter kit cost as much as or more than a carton of cigarettes)? We debated between ourselves - we were proud that we were no longer smokers, but the cravings were getting more and more intense. My daughter finally broke down and got herself a Blu disposable. I told her to get one for me, too. The darned things actually worked. I was the biggest skeptic that a fake cigarette would be able to quell my desire to smoke. Boy, was I ever wrong.
Vaping is not a be all, end all solution. Vaping does not work for everyone. However, it is definitely worth trying, especially if you have tried other ways of quitting (cold turkey, the patch, gums and candies, etc.) to no avail. Do some research. Look at the various vendors here on ECF. Look at the hardware available - do you think clouds of vapor will help you quit, or are you just looking to somewhat mimic the draw and satisfaction of a cigarette? Think about your budget - initial outlay can run from fairly cheap to REALLY expensive. However, once you have found equipment and eliquids that work for you, costs will go down. Ask questions - most of us here on ECF are former smokers, and use a vast variety of equipment. We will do our very best to help you get what you need, within your budget.
thanks very much and i do do do like the board as well as ECF. WOOT!Yes! After 50 years and trying everything short of Chantix, I'm coming up on 3 months without a cigarette. It's more expensive at first but once you get your system dialed in, it's much cheaper than smoking. Welcome to ECF
hi Anna, thank you very much for your share. and i want to know more on how to DUAL USE?Same here. After smoking several decades, I approached vaping with the intention to quit (due to the health issues I was having). It worked extremely well (I had dual used in the past, without quitting) but be prepared to suffer a bit in the process (though some people do switch quite easily, I'm just saying that for some it's easier than others). There are things that can make the switch easier, but most folks who truly desire to do so and find some stable vape setups that work for them can do it.
Dual use a bit at first is not uncommon. I dual used this time around for a week or two, but I just Kept Vaping as much as I could no matter what-- I'd vape right before and right after each cigarette , to reinforce being a vaper. This allowed me to gradually drop the cigarettes and transition, and get to no vaping for quite a long period of time (to me anyway, I wasn't convinced I could go a DAY even, and my first smoke free day I almost died of shock....).
Do you have any questions about vaping in particular, like what setups you might try, or just more general questions. We'd be happy to answer them here.
But the answer is 100% it is possible to quit smoking via vaping and many members here have done so. We also have some dual users who are happy with being able to reduce their number of cigarettes, and are also finding vaping helpful.
Best of luck and welcome to ECF.
Anna
