I've been vaping for almost 3 months, no cigarettes in that time, and I'm still waiting for my sense of smell to increase. I really cannot tell any difference in either my taste sense or my sense of smell since I started vaping.

Also, my niece was here and smoked a cigarette right by me, and I hardly noticed the cigarette smell at all. It certainly did not bother me in the least, so maybe that's a good thing, since folks still smoke in this world, lol.

I can smell a cigarette from a LONG ways away now.
ex. I was in a covered parking lot in the early morning. Stepped out of my car, and could smell cigarette. I looked around but saw no one close to me. I took a walk, and noticed someone sitting in their car about 80-100 feet away from where I parked having a smoke.
ex. 2 I am walking up the sidewalk in San Francisco, and a car passes me on the road at about 25-30mph. I could tell not only that the driver was smoking but also that he/she was smoking camels.
I can also pick out the smokers in a group from about 5-7 feet away.
My sense of taste has also increased dramatically.
I realized that for the last 29 years I really haven't been tasting my food, and that water actually has a flavor.
I sat down the other day with some salami, cheese, and crackers. It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth.
I savored every bite, and nuance of flavor from that simple snack.
I deeply regret ever smoking, and will never know all the smells, and tastes I missed over the last 29 years.
I vow to make up for lost time on that one.

I do notice that when I am vaping my taste, and smell seem diminished. The flavors, and smells are strongest to me when I haven't had a vape in a couple hours.

My main e-juice for the past couple months was one called Turkish Blend (made by a smoke shop near me), and I absolutely loved the smell/taste of it. Not to mention my brother (who quit smoking cold turkey a couple years ago) even enjoyed the smell.

Now I am using the Halo Turkish, and although I don't like it as much as the last one, it does have a nice vanilla smell to it.

Some coffee vapes leave a skunky &/or burnt coffee smell behind including on my skin. My brother-in-law's DIY red tobacco blend smells sort of like a Marlboro, fresh out of the pack and his DIY cherry/rum/tobacco smelled like cherry and something else. My husband sneezes when I vape any strong cinnamon flavors but he likes the scent. He loves a DIY fruit punch that I make and keeps looking for an air freshener that smells like it so I'm going to try to make one for him with dead Glade Air Effects refills.

It's interesting to me that while everyone else can smell my vape, I can not! i feel like I'm missing out! sometimes I have my girlfriend take a puff and blow it in my direction so I can see what it smells like! :)

I find that I enjoy exhaling then immediately breathe it back in thru my nose just to savor the aroma :)

Many responses already. I'll just add that the only time I've had people not like the smell of anything I was vaping was when I had Halo Belgian Cocoa in the clearo. It tastes good but the residual vape smells bad, like wet socks. It can linger too, my wife could smell it for hours after I stopped vaping it.

My co-workers can usually tell when I am vaping from the smell - it's almost like a game they play to see who can guess the flavor. I've had nothing but positivity from them and the smells that emanate from my vape.

I was vaping HBV Belgian Waffle and I heard my 8yo granddaughter pipe up from the kitchen:

"I smell waffles!"

My buddy was having a mini-meet at his apartment the other day.
He smelled tobacco and asked who it was and please change flavors immediately.
There's a strict smoking policy there and the neighbors would complain.

Yes, people can smell it. They usually like it.

I don't think my sense of smell is fully back yet. My taste is somewhat better and am grateful that I can taste some of these expensive juices. If I had to do it all over again, I wish someone told me not to spend a lot of money on juice. Anyway, things are getting better. I don't think all the way. 110 days.
