I have been vaping alot in the evening and before bed...it is just my imagination or is it keeping me up at night?? I have had trouble falling asleep since I started vaping a week ago..what are your thoughts?? thanks!
Andrea34, not only is it the mg your vaping at night, but it is also part of withdrawal. Lower you mg at night to 6-12mg and drink plenty of water through the daytime to help flush your system. Everything will go back to normal.
Hairball nailed it, it's a combo of withdrawal/high nic. It shouldn't last for more than a few weeks. Drink lots of water, cut your nic at night and you will be sleeping in no time. BTW congrats on your quit.
Yes and I was having the same problem until hairball advised me to lower my nic level. I lower it by about 25% for evening vape BUT I leave a little of my higher daytime juice in a tank (to be mixed with my lower level evening juice) and thus the "stepping down is not too abrupt- expect to chain vape for the first little while when stepping down in the evening.
Have any lucid dreams? lol. Happens with too much nic at night, or leaving a nic-patch on overnight.
Good point about the withdrawal too. Seems like (as has been said) it gets back to normal quickly. Hang in there.... you'll get past it and look back at it and laugh.
I suffered insomnia for months when switching. Just lived with it and it eventually passed. Reducing the nic may help but I couldn't stay away from my higher mg juices. It stinks but it does eventually pass... really not sure if it was withdrawl symptoms or nic or both.
I have a carto set aside just for use close to bedtime with very low nicotine juice in it. The first week of laying in bed with my heart racing taught me that lesson. Although unlike a lot of people, I do love the crazy dreaming nicotine induces!
1-it is normal to mildly overdose nicotine before going to sleep.
every smoker knows he smokes a lot before bed, hell... this was even observed in lab rats, having a nicotine vendor in their cage.
2-because you are new, you are probably overdosing your self severely before bed time, and as told here before-that you are probably vaping higher does than your body really needs.
thus it will be wise to lower your general nicotine levels in your juice, not just before bedtime.
I vote for lowering your nic level at night, I vape 3 or zero nic right before bed, and it has helped me alot. Once I had vaped too much at just 12 nic and I was getting a racing heart, so everyone is different, try mixing it up, use a higher level in am, then taper off at lunch and lowest at night. bnrk
MAOIs-Monoamine oxidase inhibitors
Monoamine oxidase is a neurotransmittor in the brain, that is incharge for lots of things-one of them is your mood and feelings.
I understand that Nicotine is a CNS depressant at higher dosages, so you'd think that if you vaped a LOT before bed it wouldn't be a problem. That's been my experience, anyway.
All smokers smoke before going to bed whether it's tobacco or vaping. 1 cigarette is supposed to produce 1ml of nic on the average. I suppose we could vape heavily and create a nic excess, but I think we did that before quitting tobacco.
It can't hurt to cut down a couple of hours before bedtime.
