Interesting. I just Googled "airlines ban electronic cigarettes" and there were quite a lot of links to articles where the DOT and other Federal Agencis are seeking to ban them .... so needless to say, I'd be rather terrified to fly with mine.

yes i m also terrified & confused

I just recently flew from Kuwait to Nuremburg Germany and back again with a layover in Doha, Qatar, and Frankfurt, Germany, and had a filled DCT on a regular eGo 650 battery in my pocket that i put in the tray to go through the scanner, and a few bottles of juice in a small pelican case on my carry on, and the only questions i got were about the extra carto's i had in one of my carry on pockets. Of course it didn't help that i had about 20 extra carto's in the bag. I will say however that on the return flight the safety procedures speech did include a no use of electronic cigarettes comment along with the no smoking rule. Needless to say i stealthed that whole flight cuz i wasn't going 6hrs without a vape lol! That was also on Qatar Airways.

Yeah I would go with an ego twist or so, a provari might look weird

I haven't used an airplane since I started, but my mom did. She just put the 510s + liquid in her purse, nobody even bothered in Belgium/Hungary

If you aren't doing 2 days travel. I would just use an ego twist, stick whatever you have on it, or get a mini vivi nova or so. Fill it up. Like mentioned put it disassembled in a bag. It should last you a while. Or a ego mega dual coil (if you do not mind cartomizers), those can take up to 4ml or so. But I would stay away from large size PV's/Mods

But its getting ridiculous. You have to use a bag for liquid, but you can have a pack of cigarettes + a lighter just in your shirt ... If you ask me this is just silly, but hey, so are a lot of rules these days. Sometimes the common sense is very far away

I travel a lot.

Been to 12 different countries taking about 30 international flights this year and carried all my gear with me...

I have been asked about 5 times whilst going through the scanners what is this? "Electric Cigarette" I reply. End of conversation.

Vaping on planes. Basically I can't be assed with all the explaining so I just either go to the toilet and vape away, the smoke alarm has never gone off but don't blow directly at it. Or I just take sneaky blasts under my t-shirts/jumper/blanket/

I once met a pilot in the smoking room and asked him about it all.
He said it's not a problem and that he himself uses them in the cockpit but the issue is with the other passengers becoming confused and the amount of complaints they get. So they have banned them because of this. But they are not banned for you to carry.

So all in all I have never been asked because I have never been caught. Take long puffs and inhale deeply and just blow it to the floor or inside your t-shirt.

As long as your liquid bottles don't exceed the 100mg limit you'll be fine. Batteries just need to be where batteries normally go. Your device may alert some unexperienced dude to ask you to show them. In which he'll go running off with your device to the bossman and be told what it is and he'll return it to you slowly admiring it and you pack your bag and give him a wink after slowly prying your device out his hands.

That part gave me a giggle lol.

I think the answer has already been given for the most part: it's ok to take your pv with you on planes.
I'll share my experiences.
-in 2010, while passing through security in a Canadian airport, on my way to the US, they spotted the hex copper mod in my back pack carry on and forced me to check it in. From what I understood, if it was a more elegant looking pv, they would have let it through (the copper hex looks like a pipe bomb). I also gave the year because I think with time everyone is getting more used to them and its becoming less of an issue. I would bet that if you went with a hex copper today to the same airport you'd be ok.

This mod attracted attention in a few other airports but after I explained, they were ok with it.

-Just recently on several other international and domestic flights I brought my "less dangerous looking" roughstack. I always put it in my backpack when going through security (why show it to anyone unless they spot it) along with a few spare batteries and cartos, and they let my backpack through without any questions.

-also I vaped on the plane with no issues. In my seat, I simply inhale deeper and hold the vapor longer than blow towards my lap and haven't had any issues. Also in the plane toilette, I vaped quite liberally and blew the vapor towards the floor with no problems ( I was too chicken to blow the vapor towards the smoke detector to test what happens)

vape on.
