I guess that was Off Topic.
Anyway, I see no reason to stop calling them Analogs.

This entire thread is off-topic, and so are all the threads about smoking cigarettes, the same way steam locomotives are off-topic on electric train forums: yes there's a connection between the two, but it's not the point of the forum.

So, call cigarettes whatever you want and let's talk about vaping shall we? Pretty please?

I think misused words like "analog" make the vaping community look dim-witted, but what can you do? People like it for some reason, so it's probably here to stay - just like "I should of known better" and "for all intensive purposes".

But really, the entire country will soon be completely illiterate anyway, so there won't be anyone around to notice it.

:)

'I could care less' is another one. One day people will wonder where these came from, but what else is new. I think there are more exceptions than rules in the English language.

Yep.

And my all-time favorite, "supposably." That one even sets off Spell Check, which you'd think would be a tip off, but no.

Nah, words like "joose" make the community look dim-witted.

I agree. Even worse is the poor grammar I read here and all over the net on an all too frequent basis. The wrong words used in the wrong context really makes me wonder how some folks made it through school.

These words are just a few examples. there their they're hear here hurd heard too two to your you're wear where waist waste

Furthermore, the illiterate spoken words these days. I've even heard news anchors celebrities and radio show hosts saying words like eXpecially for especially, or aXe for ask.

arrrgh, did none of these people have a concerned parent or at least one good teacher around to correct them when they were growing up?

It's just sad :tumble:

Good god, you brought this thread back for spelling mistakes

I always knew it's not good to trust people who can only imagine one way to spell a word

Just a thought, if you are going to complain about grammar, you should proof read your post and check for punctuation mistakes. :)

The whole glass house and stone thing you know.

You guys make fun of us Grammarians...but you know, we didn't ask to be this way. I see the Zoid, running around mocking me with his seemingly random use of CAPS. The fact of it is, we are OCD about grammar. I wish I could turn it off, I really do! I have to use tricks like the ones in this blog:

http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html

I read stuff like this, just to keep my tortuously tenuous grip on sanity.

Its not easy.

I wouldn't Call it Mocking. Well... Maybe Sometimes.

I would call it more Poking Fun at people. And I think the Degree of the Poking is Directly Proportional to the Size of the Stick and the Thickness of Ones Skin.

:)

And before the Hate PM's start pouring in. I take my Fair Share of Poking. Remember the NUTz Canoe? And the Vaper Police Car?

Not really a grammar thing, but my new favorite pet peeve is when I'm watching a television show and someone says " I'm weary about crossing that river." or "shes a tough competitor and one to be weary of."

Weary is tired.

Leery is the word you're looking for folks!

How can you be tired of something that you've never done? The last example is insulting to the speaker as well as the person they're referring too.
