Why are cigarettes called analog cigs?

Along the same line as the original question:
Why do we call the heating unit an atomizer? It doesn't atomize the juice, it evaporates it or vaporizes it. We call our devices Personal Vaporizers, not Personal Atomizers ... and for good reason. It would take MUCH more heat to break down the juice into its chemical elements. You wouldn't want to do that anyway.

Another type of atomizer sprays a liquid into a fine mist so it will quickly evaporate (think perfume). Our 'atomizers' don't do that either.

So, atomizer - analog - and probably other terms in use might not make sense, but they were used, seemed 'right' to enough people and we're stuck with them. My 2¢

Technically in electrical terms, an ecig would be more of an analog device than a digital one, as there is no processing of 0s and 1s involved. Because the device doesn't deal with any kind of signal or data, it's really neither, just a simple electric circuit It's just fun to refer to standard cigs as "analog" because they are a thing of the past (like most analog AV and computing devices), whereas our ecigs are "digital" like in that they are new technology in tobacco (or.. lack thereof).

1 and 0 is on and off

so by pressing down on my battery's button, it is turning it on 1 and when i release it is back to 0 off, am i correct? .. i'm pretty sure i am i've seen on and off switches on things before labeled this way

It really comes down to semantics... Yes, On/Off = 0/1, so as you use your ecig you are smoking in binary! Congrats!

And I would even argue that it's being processed (at least the 1's)!

I would have understood it. But, heck, I can still remember enough about coding in hexadecimal to be dangerous. Binary is easy. I still want to build my own BCD clock, but always have too many projects going on to sit down and do it.

haha im the same way with my amplifiers. I have 2 projects im trying to work on simultaneously but i havent actually started building anything. But thats probably because im in college, lazy, and stressed out from all this damn electrical engineering material in school
