From 2010: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...4876-why-cigarettes-called-analog-cigs-4.html

From 2011: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...69106-why-do-you-call-cigarettes-analogs.html

From 2012: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/351326-must-we-call-cigarettes-analogs.html

These are just a few that pop up in my Google search.

So, do you think you will be more successful in your endeavor?

My advice, call them whatever you want to call them and don't sweat the small stuff. We have bigger things to fight. :)

Same reason I did, just to make sure nothing gets past us. :) It's that old curiosity thingy. I can say thingy here, can't I?

I say it all the time :) Along with doohickey and thingamabobber and whatchamacallit

You know.....that thingy that gets screwed onto the doohickey that's topped with the thingamabobber that you put the whatchamacallit into! :D
And it's all to keep me off the analogs

I have to agree. I have never understood why regular cigs are called that. I am new to vaping but I have been researching it for a LONG time. I don't use that term except here because that is the "term" used here. It doesn't irritate me, it is what it is. But, I don't use that term out in public because no one else has a clue what it is or what it means.

The term analog is stupid because PV gear (unless is has a digital display) is ALSO or actually more analog by definition. You don't say a fire is analog. A lightbulb is not digital just because it goes on and off; neither is PV gear. An electric guitar is analog for example, but so is an acoustic guitar because it is producing sine waves. But you don't call an acoustic guitar an analog guitar In comparison BECAUSE AN ELECTRIC GUITAR ISNT DIGITAL.

because It is semantically incorrect, is why the term should not be used. I could get into a discussion on binary, what sine waves are, etc, but I hesitate to because most people cant seem to grasp the concept that a lightbulb is an analog circuit.

I want to sincerely thank the OP and all subsequent posters on this thread. I have had a very busy morning and needed a distraction for lunchtime reading. You have all provided!

I would say 'Encore', but as pointed out, this is an encore. I look forward to revisiting this subject in the not too distant future.

Now, back to work.
