Can we stop calling regular cigs "Analogs"?

not even remotely. an o2 sensor is analog. A camshaft sensor is digital.

Right... But the O2 sensor, which we both agree is analog, has an on and off state. That doesn't make it digital.

Regarding a light switch/bulb, a discrete circuit is not automatically a digital circuit.

As opposed to a hard drink? :)

A hard drink sounds good right about now. My apparent undereducated, don't even remember this subject in high school science, brain can't take much more of this analog vs. digital discussion before it explodes.

So, is the usage of 'analog' for describing cigarettes not derived from the fact that e-cigs are analogous to cigs?

I won't use the term, as I'm not a fan of arbitrary language change, just because someone thinks that it's clever.

However, as has probably been pointed out several times, it makes some sense if that was the original intent.

New member - old member - and when not a member I smoked 'tobacco' in the from a cigarette. Sometimes cigars. Call them anything that flips ones proverbial switch. I do now and will always refer to them by either of the two words "cigarettes" or "cigars". I don't really plan on worrying about it much more; part of a day is sufficient. I simply hope to be an ex-smoker when I finally die.

I don't want some misreading preacher saying, "Tom was a wonderful family man and an ex .... log smoker." I've been called some form of .... a sufficient number of times in my life. While alive - I sure don't plan on following the crowd here or elsewhere and using a word the general public cannot fully grasp. I want them to damn well know I am using a cigarette and cigar substitute of my own choice; I will leave no doubt.

It's not a rant. It's a fact. My fact if nothing more.

I like stinky better because to be honest they do stink. I use to love them but they do stink! It's not like I'm walking up to someone who still smokes and calling them a stinky, that would be "putting on airs"... But amongst ourselves, other vapors, nah its not!

I was not trying to impy they are perfume, and agree they definitely do not smell good.

Women also don't seem as absurd saying "poop", as men do. I can see why this distinction may elude you. Now, try to imagine a man over 6'. He's wearing workboots, a flannel shirt and has a beard. You hear him use the word "stinky". Tell me he doesn't seem ridiculous to you. :p

Maybe liquid or juice whichever you prefer should just be renamed G. We use VG or PG or some combo. So just get more G or Gombo or APV fuel or I just don't know but hey! I didn't use the "A" word up in here. So there's that.

I can't believe we mad it 3 pages without saying that liquid shouldn't be called juice, and Micro coils aren't necessarily micro, just touching, and...

You guys are slacking! :vapor:

For the record though, I don't use analog or E-cigarette anywhere but here.

Surely there is a way to discuss this topic without getting heated and snarky, right?

That's exactly it. But opinions get thrown out and disagreed with, pride or whatever else takes a blow and things go to hell in a hand-basket.

And that's when we start issuing infractions and closing threads. :glare:
