Can we stop calling them E-Cigarette's please?

Hi all Ive been a form lurker for months and would like to contribute to the conversations.

Anyways Ive been vapeing for 6 months now and love it but one thing that is bothering me is that we still call it a cigarette.
Its creates a direct link to real cigarettes and the media and other law makers are using that against us.
IMO vapeing is not smoking and shouldn't have the word cigarette in its name. What do you think?

I call mine a puffer... but I always identify it as an "e-cigarette" to the authorities/uninitiated.

Sorry I had no idea their were other threads on this issue. Ether way I call it my vaporizer. I think it sounds better.

I call mine "Cheater stick". I agree though, a good vaping set-up is miles from a e-cig. With a box mod and 3ml tank, what even resembles a cig?

I guess its too late to change the name of vaporizers. Maybe some one should come up with a term for the new generation vape gear like the rda and box mods that look nothing like a e-cig

Jup........I pretty much agree with you......but I do understand why it started out as that. I would like to see it be something else, cuz you'll even see some vapers that tend to feel like they haven't "really" quit smoking. But it is what it is. I call mine a lot of things, usually my nic stick (even though it's a box) lol Began calling it that when I was using an ego when I first started.

I was a hard core smoker, 3+ packs a day for 20 years. I smoked until it hurt then I smoked some more. Now im a hard core vaper, and feel much better. I feel I can vape as hard as I want and it don't hurt. It was ez to switch too.

It's up to you. I call it an e-cig or pv - normally when I'm checking whether I'll be allowed to use it in a pub. Always do this BEFORE ordering beer. If they say "No" then you can leave, and you've helped by showing a landlord that not allowing vaping leads to lost sales. It's called education.

I would love to give you credit for that being a profound thing but... why did you start using "them" to begin with? To maybe , oh I dunno, QUIT SMOKING CIGARETTES?? There - now try breaking the connection to the very thing they were created to help you quit. Call it what you want but that connection is tangible and a few magic words and a sprinkle of fairy dust isn't going to change the fact that e-cigarettes would not exist but for the very cigarettes they replace. No matter what you don't want to call it, try having a conversation that doesn't bring up cigarettes and why you are using your "bloorge pfapr" - or whatever it is supposed to be renamed to - instead of smoking. Did the FDA issues just disappear? No?

One hell of a point there, but I think the new age of vaporizers are moving further away from cigarettes and I think that might warrant a new name.

The topic comes up fairly regularly, and what many new vapers don't realize is the horse is already out of the barn. Regardless of what we call it today, it's still going to be vilified by those who are clueless.

No problem. It's a strong topic that gets revisited frequently. Your views are wholly valid - but there are lots of other views out there. That's what the forum is for.
