Why do we still call them "e-cigarettes"?

They were still a pharmaceutical company who produced a cigalike and the tobacco industry soon jumped on board.

Sent from my HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon edition
is there a difference between BT and BP it would seem that pharma would like them to be called cigs that way folks would shy away and sales of nrt could continue and here in Canada in-patients can be supplied with NRT ad lib -free Health care ( taxed to death because of it of course) is happy and BT likes the name cig in there somewhere so that they have a hope of getting a few sales on those funny little gizmos they sell in gas stations and BG likes the term cig in there somewhere so they can lay taxes supreme, antz like the name cig in there so they can still rant -vaping should not put people out of work ecig is a win win for everyone ;)

As stated that ship has sailed. On a personal note I refuse, use the term e-cig in reference to anything but a cigalike.
Changing the world, one pugnacious reaction at a time.

I concur.... and to add to the list... steeping, wrong word... proper word is aging ( unless you have some type of solid in your juice) steep your tea, age your juice :)

If someone would come up with an unarguably better name, it would take, but so far have not. "Personal Vaporizer" says nothing about what kind of vapor or its purpose. If "personal" implies a purpose, it's probably not what it's actually for.

Language is built on the old. I note that even the big companies are trying to find a better term, e.g. markten's "e-vapor".

The best, to me, is "vapor cig". "Electronic" is kind of like saying "magic" more than explaining anything, so vapor's better. "Cig" implies some relationship to smoking, but insisting on abbreviating it also differentiates also, as well as using a stronger modifier in front. "E-cig" is still shorter, though.

If "cig" is such a bad descriptor, I guess everyone here still smokes because vaping doesn't relate to smoking or replace it.
