I think that one thing I see happening is that people forget that there are a lot of us who don't want to "progress" up the line very far. I was lucky enough to find ECF before I bought anything, and to be forum savvy enough to start a thread that explained my particular needs in detail before requesting recommendations. Based on the responses I got I started out with two ITaste VV3s and a couple of different clearos.

VV3s are still my main pvs. I found out from that start that I like low wattage and bottom coil clearos. The only money I've "wasted" was on an istick 20w, a carto tank, a dual coil clearo, and some top coil clearos. But I don't consider that a waste, since it was how I learned what I did like. I have absolutely no need for higher wattage or low ohms. I'm thinking of getting an MVP3just for the battery life.

My point is that not everyone, or even most people, will need to go to high wattage and sub ohm. The only time I get upset with other people's recommendations is when they don't read and/or ignore what someone was actually asking. That, and the "you have to get xyz because it's the only thing that works" when there a lot of things that work for different people.

Amoret, I've got several friends who have vaped longer than me still using Twists and VV3's. They say that's all they want and need.

Yeah, it's plenty for me. It would be nice to have something with longer battery life, but functionally the VVs are all I want or need.

I was happy with my eRolls, other than the short battery life and tiny tank -- those were what made me keep looking; the eRoll itself was fine, and a good substitute for smoking -- the TH from MFS Virginia was wayyyyyyyyyyy better than from VS ultra-light cigs!!! :D

If she's happy with Volts, buy her a dozen of 'em! Any flavor she likes or thinks might be interesting! I think it's totally fantastic that you were able to inspire such an aged person to give it a try, and I know you and your wife must be thrilled. More power to ya -- and to your MIL too! Way to go, MIL!!!

Andria

Thanks Andria, I'm ordering her 2 more for back ups. She will probably stay with the Tobacco flavor for a while or for good if I know her. :) But I do get a kick out of 2 certain Great Grandmothers that come in the vape shop and have a fit sampling juices. They are lovin their egos and can't get enough flavors. I could point em to better online juice or suggest better tanks, but why not leave them be? I don't want to interfere as long as they are so happy with what they have. :)

a kanger sub tank on a auto battery then she dont have to press any buttons get her 3 then you can pop in every couple of days and fill them for her. if its to heavy for her to hold tie it to a hat bill with some fishing string. See sub tanks fit all needs;-)
OK, I finally got the battery out of my wife's car, so now what?

Edit: All I got is jumper cables

Well my mother in law quit smoking cold turkey with Volt ecigs (minimal product) and has tried my wife's estick and tanks but doesn't like the hit. She wants more Volt ecigs. She thinks the Volt is much like her cigarettes:laugh: Maybe I should let her try my Plume Veil or Rose. I want her to feel secure....

the MIL isnt ready to quit "smoking" .... and a Plume Veil... sounds like someone isnt doing volts ecigs there must be a feeling of security in the PlumeVeil

Perhaps what we all should do is accept that new Vapors are of all ages, sexes, and experiences and might be better served if we offered them a variety of choices...There are enough choices today for everyone. Let the buyer decide what's best for them. I personally can't see my 70 yr old mother Blowin' clouds @ 150 watts on a dripper but...I'd run the idea by her if she'd agree to a least try and quit smoking after 52 yrs.

if I had started out with my SVD and RSST I would have never known about wasting a ton of money on Blu's Egos Protanks Vamos... the BS that comes with them the dissapointment in quality and vape flavor/density.... but since I didnt start with my SVD/RSST I had the chance to learn about all the disadvantages of vaping inferior products... everyone needs to experience that... makes one appreciate the good stuff when they get it....

Perfect! I think you nailed it with the last line of your post. I think much of the "trolling" that this thread inspired was in response to the OP's statements that, to me, seem contrary to your last line.

-I know folks that don't want to progress up the "ladder".
-I also know newbie-vapers that don't even recognize that there is a "ladder" and want "what I have" so they too, can quit smoking.

When the OP says "N00bs want something like a cigarette" and "A n00b won't even know how to use a sub-tank", well then that's just as bad as the folks who say "You have to get XYZ b/c that's what works for me." It's the same as the OP saying "Don't get XYZ because that wouldn't have worked for me"

We should absolutely share our experiences and our opinions with n00bs, but if we make them follow some path we have in our minds and nothing else, then we are doing them a disservice.

Great post!

This guy would beg to differ..............I like that phrase "beg to differ":

Came to this wonderful forum last night, after about a year away, to get your good input on the 20W iStick. Eleven hundred posts later, I've learned a little, most importantly that there is an improved 30W version available. Thanks to all of you! Went hunting for a cheap source (retired and paying huge heating bills in Maine this winter!), and found one to share. Per vapingcheap dot com, was directed to a sale at Mount Baker Vapor, where I bought two of them for a net cost, shipping included,
of $62.08, or $31.04 each. Color choices are black and silver. These are complete kits, with the charger and 510-ego converter. To get the discount and free shipping on orders over $50, use the coupon code vapingcheap. Thanks again for being so knowledgeable and friendly. You folks saved me from cigalikes and got me to
vision spinners, kanger protanks, etc.

Ha!

No way! :)

That's like saying I should have a bunch of bad-marriages just so I can appreciate a good-marriage further down the road.

That doesn't make sense.
Unless you're one of my ex-wives.
And then you get a house and a Land Rover out of the bad-marriage.

:)

"Can We Stop Recommending the Subtank/Atlantis to New Vapers Please? IT'S NOTHING LIKE A CIGARETTE"

NO! Because I like the Subtank therefore everyone else should too...its a purely objective thing. Vaping is nothing like cigarettes neither is any vape pen or device or otherwise so might as well stop smoking and trying to mimic it in my world and just vape. Ok. Having said that I recommend the Subtank Nano with like a KBOX or IStick 30. :p

Cheers
