there is no right or wrong just what works for each person individually. Saying no one should start with a sub set up makes just as much since as saying everyone should start with a volt. Rant threads are really pointless as its mostly someones pet peeve biased on some truth but mostly opinion.
I find it fun to clown around in rant threads but for the most part its just cheap entertainment there is very little of value to take away from a rant thread.

I agree with the fun part, but my point is that even cigalikes have their place and shouldn't be dismissed. I'm very thankful for them and for those, who have more of a habit than an addiction to strong cigarettes, they can be the perfect vape. Especially the elderly. My biggest concern for her smoking was not health problems but the fact that she lives alone mostly and has been constantly falling asleep on her couch with a lit cigarette. That's one reason I posted earlier about being careful about giving advice even in a post on this forum. It can influence people in a wrong way. Or it could potentially save someone's life.

My favorite is seeing people recommend a sigelei 150w to a newer person. lol. Idiots.

you made my point ,your assuming every one who is a new vapor is ignorant of electronics and batteries or is incapable of grasping the information needed to use that type of device safely and responsibly. But yea I get your drift.
Wouldn't it be better though to talk to th person and see what they are looking for and make suggestions or guide them in a direction biased on what they want not what you think they should want be it clouds or cig alikes or more times than not something in between.

Exactly! Because as everyone knows, the Sigelei 150w does not have adjustable wattage.....it must be vaped at 150 watts. It was the same thing when our daughter turned 16 and we bought her a car. The top speed of the car was roughly 120mph, so as a result, we had a newer driver immediately cruising around at 120. We must have been idiots. :p

very irresponsible! every one knows you should start off a new driver with a car only capable of 20 mph and holds 1/2 gallon of gas! Im surprised you are not in prison for such blatant child endangerment!!!!!

Were they sub ohmers? Maybe they cut their nic back too much and are havin withdrawal symptoms............:)
Nope. There are just people in the vaping community who are anti-sub-ohming and believe it's nothing more then adolescent cloud chasing.

I see nothing wrong with that considering most people who buy a 150w mod aren't vaping 150w and there is certainly a reason why these devices are variable wattage.

I only wish I would have bought a 150w mod first because it's something you can grow with without wasting money on upgrades. And even if you never use close to that. You will certainly benefit from the extended life of dual batteries.

@Oberon75. People are entitled to their opinion but one of my opinions is you are not entitled to show hostility to another because you think differently regardless if it is done on a forum. They would probably not do that to your face. I went through the same thing waitin on an order for an istick 20. After they told me the problems it had, I said it sounded like a piece of crap. (mistake) But what got me was 2 individuals that that asked/told me that I thought my wife was an idiot because I was tryin to express that she needs something that she doesn't have to fiddle with, just set and vape. I bit my tongue on that and told them that was enough, but wouldn't have if they had been in front of me. :) Some people.............

Oh. I now have 4 isticks with 2 50's ordered. Sold all my other mods and gear. :)

We all just recommend what we know or like. It's a generalization, but vapers are a helpful people--peaceful--who all just want to help others quit a harmful substance in exchange for a hobby that is both (mostly) safe and exciting. A lot of people are curious about vaping and whenever someone asks to try mine (usually a sigelei 100W+) I tell them "You probably won't enjoy this, but it isn't representative of all e-cigs" or something along those lines. Starting off is trial and error in my opinion. Not every person quitting wants a cig-alike that tastes like what they're looking to stop using, and not every one wants to jump straight to 300W with a .001 ohm coil.

Well I guess I fall into the "idiots" category then because I have and will continue to recommend Sigelei 100 and 150's to new vapors after asking enough questions to understand what they're looking for. I follow the recommendation with advice on settings, batteries etc. but don't anyone follow my advice because I'm now classified as an idiot.

I only wish there had been Sigelei, IPV, SMY, Hana, Vaopershark etc. back when I started and I wouldn't be sitting here with $1000 worth of equipment I have upgraded from to get the vapor I was hunting in the beginning. But they too would have been classified as idiots and as such not yet falling into the idiot classification I would have not been able to listen to their advice and would have been in the same boat.

I remember when I was a little younger...like 35 years younger ... there was this kid who started smoking. He started on Marlboro reds. Me and my more responsible friends shoved him in a corner and made fun of him. We told him how he wasn't ready for Marlboro Reds. We pummeled him with cartons of Merit Ultra Lights and took away his Zippo. He wasn't ready for a Zippo...those were for advanced smokers. We gave him a box of fireplace matches.

I don't consider the egos, evods, protank minis and Spinner IIs I've bought a waste. They got me off cigs and got me started at a price-point I was comfortable with. If someone would have seriously suggested to start with a sigelei 150w and subtank, I'd probably have tried nicotine gum again, even though it didn't work the first and second times.

My partner is using a nautilus mini and a spinner II now. His opinion is that my 30w box mod is overkill and over complicated.

Well my mother in law quit smoking cold turkey with Volt ecigs (minimal product) and has tried my wife's estick and tanks but doesn't like the hit. She wants more Volt ecigs. She thinks the Volt is much like her cigarettes:laugh: Maybe I should let her try my Plume Veil or Rose. I want her to feel secure....

I was happy with my eRolls, other than the short battery life and tiny tank -- those were what made me keep looking; the eRoll itself was fine, and a good substitute for smoking -- the TH from MFS Virginia was wayyyyyyyyyyy better than from VS ultra-light cigs!!! :D

If she's happy with Volts, buy her a dozen of 'em! Any flavor she likes or thinks might be interesting! I think it's totally fantastic that you were able to inspire such an aged person to give it a try, and I know you and your wife must be thrilled. More power to ya -- and to your MIL too! Way to go, MIL!!!

This is a perfect example right here as to why it's not always good to listen to popular opinion. I honestly wasted hundreds of dollars on vaping equipment and liquids before finding something I truly enjoy which is a higher wattage regulated mod, an Atlantis and a couple RDA's.

About a week ago I made a post about my experience with sub-ohming and how one night when I needed a cigarette because my battery died while I was out, my post was met with instant hostility because I claimed it wasn't the same anymore and higher wattage vaping offered a satisfaction completely unlike devices that simulate a cigarette.

Hey, Hey. Calm down. I notice that your join date is Oct 14 so you must be a n00b. No matter that you apparently hold down a job, probably have a family and "somehow" operate a motor-vehicle you have been deemed too irresponsible for something as dangerous as an Atlantis tank.*

We're going to need you to turn-in your current set up for an 750mah eGo or a cigalike. You are obviously a loose cannon and vaping above 11w is ONLY for the experienced vapers.**

Segelei must be the same company that designed my surround sound. It's at full-blast right now and I can barely think! If only there was some way that I didn't have to use the full volume every time I used it. Perhaps a way to turn the wattage down...*

I must be an idiot.**

Are you sure 11 watts is low enough? That might seriously be considered living on the edge.
