If I had started out with a ProVari and ProTank2s, I would have quit n frustration. The PT2s only worked well once I replaced the poorly thought out bottom caps with Tatroe caps. I had my Halo Tritons to use in the meantime while sorting out the issues with the PT2s...

don't move the goal posts.

protanks are garbage IMHO. advanced user level work with beginner level performance at their very best... and you have to know how to get that out of them and keep it that way.

That was the popular tank at the time I bought my first ProVari. Sub tanks aren't any less fiddly, at least from what I have seen on here.

Please don't even suggest that .......... some idiot would be bound to try it!
I put on rubber gloves whenever the 100mg nic base comes out of the freezer.

I think where we tend to shoot our self in the foot is suggesting this or that product without any suggestions on what's necessary for it to work properly or safely, and folks end up with toppers that won't even fire on their PV, Pv's that can't be set low enough. and on and on.

We need to remember that there is a large segment out there that doesn't know what ohms law is, or even want's to know what it is. They just want to vape.
If you're a collage student, and want to take a class on batteries ....... trust me, it's not a one day class!

nobody is recommending that.

it's a response to my vaping and what i stated earlier. i vape 50mg @ ~80W. if i vaped under 20 watts, i might need that extreme...

but... i spent a lot of time working up to that.

HOW I VAPE IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND NOT RECOMMENDED.

but... it's what keeps me off the cigs without constant nic fits and stress headaches.

One of my favorite sayings on here is "if you don't like your clearo tank ... by all means buy different clearo tank. That way you can confirm the fact that you don't like clearo tanks".

    add:
HOW I VAPE DRANK IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND NOT RECOMMENDED.

and that's why I don't tell people how I use to drink.

Like; did you know that there is a system in your car designed to dispense alcohol?

    understood.

hence why i never suggest clearos to noobs at all. the stress i went through (apparently you and many others, too)... i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

though, i can't comment on sub tanks from personal experience.

my go to for noobs is carto tanks. yeah, they have to learn to prime them. they may screw up the first two carts doing so. but once it's going, that's it... it just works. (as you very well know)

may i suggest you might consider changing your sig line?

"The biggest and most common mistake is buying clearo after clearo searching for that perfect vape
instead of learning how to get that perfect vape from the cartos you already have."

Nope...it's not a 1 day class...and from my experience, Physics 251 SUCKED way more than Physics 250 (which was all of the gravity and friction stuff).

Amusingly enough, I started with Halo Tritons and they weren't quite enough to get me over the hump. PT2s and some 1300 mAh "Winder" type batteries were though.

251 was the logical analysis of quantum mechanics where/when I went to school.
Have you ever watched paint dry?!?
(and yes, I did have to look to remember)

That would have been beck, if he'd preferred cartos to RDAs...

But I completely agree; I'm a fast learner, but I took about 6 months of reading and asking questions about many aspects of mechs and batteries and safety before I even got a removable-battery regulated mod and the batteries and charger to go with it; a couple months later, I got a mech, because by then I felt I could handle it safely -- and then I got another charger and several more rounds of batteries and good lord at all the cool stuff to buy... ;)

PS: I also don't subscribe to the idea that the better the device, the better one's chances of getting/staying smoke-free -- I quit the first time using an eRoll, because *I could* -- I tried it out as an experiment to see if it would really work for me, if I really tried, and it really did. Getting the next step, the vv3+T3S, just relieved a lot of the frustrations of the cigalike, and gave a much better hit. But when I had my relapse and then had to get back to smoke-free, I had 2 kayfuns and a nice cartotank that I really like, and it still took a month to put down the smokes and get back to smoke-free -- and at the beginning of trying, I used the eRoll again, because it felt more like smoking. The issue wasn't about the hardware, it was about the software -- between my ears. Deciding to put them down again was harder than actually doing it.

I am now the owner of 4 "sub-ohm" tanks, my wife purchased her second yesterday and our friends have 3 between the two of them. No "fiddly", nill, nada, fill, soak and vape, that has been our experience with every one of them. In doing an informal poll of the B&M where I buy most everything they have experienced the same with what they have sold, 99.9% have been plug and play with happy vapors. The only ones having problems are the ones who don't listen to the advice and forgo priming the coils the first time, think that cranking it up to 150 watts will make clouds or other such user caused error.

Not all are perfect but compared to a year ago or more there's a lot less chance of hardware problems with the new generation of tanks on the market.

I would of loved a sub tank when I started vaping! Of course the recommendation should be followed with a lengthily education of how to use safely I spent alot of money early on getting what I have with my SMOK VCT with dual coils and my Vapor shark rDNA 40 besides with the right stuff its way safer then when we were experimenting
with things that are now available off the shelf. A couple of years ago we had to be just on the edge of the limits to get this kind of vapor and flavor out of the things we had.
One last thought. Sub ohm forces you to drop nic because its just to much even at 6 mg for most people so it cant be all bad.

There's even less chance of "hardware problems" with a 4 year old carto tank. ........ just sayin'

I went TO cartos from earlier tanks like to Protank2 and and iclear series. I found them to be a little more reliable, but only marginally so. I used them for quite awhile, and I would probably never recommend them to a newb now. I haven't tried many of the new generation clearos, but the Subtank is as easy as it gets, and the performance is awesome. Had they been out back when, I may never have bothered with rebuilding. I'm not saying I would give up my drippers now, but the subtank is pretty damn good.

and that applies more today what better to cover a vapor shark than a baby seal skin custom cover!!! Or a soft shell turtle case
