This just came up... I have a first run and a new unit.
I had 2 first runs, and sold one, so now i still have 2.

I honestly can't tell which one is the new... and i've had the older one since Nov. 2010. lol.
They are virtually indistinguishable.

I wonder if there is some kind of code in the chip or something?

both satin silvers....

yep; but i had the window replaced from our guys at provape... haha
i am not worried, unless i had to sell one..
actually i am seeing the minutest difference in the logo; one is ever so slightly lighter... it's almost indistinguishable though.
these satin's really hold well and don't discolor at all....
I heard the window is different, along with the screws used to hold the window in place. Other than that I don't know of any differences.

you know, i wrote somewhere that that was the case, only now that i look at it, it doesn't seem so... that was my first impression when i got the new one in...
I also felt that the button click to digit response was crisper but don't know if that was just "in my mind" (twilight zone music)...
I have one that the digital display is larger print, the 2nd one I bought has a different font and it's smaller.

Yes, as beutiful as the chromed ones are (as well as the dsicontinued textured one), I must say that the satin/media blasted finish is awesome. Mine looks as good as the day it shipped out. Granted I am not very active due to disability but with the daily use that sucker has seen, I find it amazing the way it still looks. :)
