Replying on another thread where it asked how much money I wasted getting started, it made me think about how I did things and if I would have changed that. I would have. I found the only money I wasted was on juices I didn't like... $200.00 worth. I will always use the setups, cartos, etc but I now have to invest in a VV. So, if I had it to do over, I would have bought a straight eGo VV passthrough (the one with no battery) and some attys for testing juice and to find my voltage sweet spot. I'm retired and at home all day. Once I found my ADV and preferred voltage, then I would have started putting money into my setup. Why buy something that goes to way high volts if I'm never going to vape that high? All the reviews I've seen praise that little passthrough. I'm not saying what I got was wrong for me (2 eGo C upgrade passthrough kits and two eGo Cs) as I'll still use them but it sure would have kept my expenses down going no battery until I found a juice.

Of course the Pila (expensive one) is probably the best. Different people have different opinions on the chargers....I have a Trustfire TR-006 that works just fine. I think the Xtars are popular. I also have an Untrafire WF-139 that is fine.

As long as it'll charge 18650 batteries, it's okay. If money is no object, get the Pila. :)

its pesky me again

what is the preferred charger

If you are looking at RTD don't forget to put in ECF5 for 5% off your order. You can get batteries, charger, and drip tips there. I agree on the Pila. But the Ultrafire or Trustfire will work. The X-tar is in the middle I think. Not quite a Pila but maybe better than the Trustfire.

For juices get small bottles of several different flavors. You might want to try different vendors as some can be quite different for the same type juice. I only use 100% VG juices. But that is because I have problems using the PG. A good ratio of each should let you see what you like.
You will find prices vary alot for juice. Tons of vendors selling it also.

Don't buy the Trustfire or Ultrafire chargers please - they do not use the correct technical thingamabob (CCCV charging pattern) to charge the batteries correctly. And some of the cheapest ones are actually dangerous because of the cheap mains cabling they use. Yes, I know many have used them for a long time without a problem, but that's luck. They are ok for a backup charger in the closet, but not for daily use.

The Xtar chargers are cheap, consistent and decently built, get one of those. The pila is about the same, but more expensive.

It is, Dano. My 2-3 pack/day for 34 years husband was able to make the transition in about 4 weeks. Our friends did it in about a week. It took me 6 months. And I've seen folks say they made the switch immediately. It's different for everyone. I have no doubt that you'll get there too. Just keep bringing your questions and we'll help you work things out. :)

Here's my story Dano.... I smoked, started when i was 15, smoked till three years ago, over 50 years of it( I'd tried everything on the market, including hypnosis, realized my last breath would be with a huge drag off a cig, resigned myself to this fact...then i happened to meet an old, tough, rough biker that I knew slightly and he was vaping. He told me that he hadn't touched a cig in the 3 or so months since he started vaping...and he'd smoked longer than me. He let me try it, I immediately pumped him for how and where I could get them.

From the first day I haven't had to touch another nasty, life threatening or at the least, horrible cigarette caused debilitating illness.
Granted, there were a few times in the beginning when I wasn't using them right, i.e. not enough nicotine or user error, I came close to picking up one again, but I thankfully got through it.

Every one here Knows what you've gone through with smoking and we all know that you never have to pick up another cigarette.

You can do it!

Whatever happens, just remember don't quit trying......we're all pulling for you. And if you need more help just come back and ask. I gotta feeling there's more experience here than anyplace else. Lol, not only experienced folks but folks who really do love to help and love their Reos. Individually we might not know everything but as a unit I can't imagine anyplace better. Gawd, if we put our minds to it I bet we can even find Bigfoot

Yeah....we're not just a select, lucky little pool of people for whom this has miraculously worked so we're all singing its praises....we're a little cross-section of a HUGE group of people who have very easily (relatively) quit smoking by using e-cigs....some of us after having had the habit for 40-50 years. This forum has over 113,000 members....and this is not the only e-cigarette forum out there. (And not all e-cig users have found their way to ANY forum.) These things work. Period. And they're FUN while they're working. And I don't know exactly how you landed here buying a REO as your first e-cig....but that really, really puts you ahead of the game. Like I said before, many of us took a much more circuitous route to get here. I am excited for you because I can imagine that you still have questions in your head like how effective could this possibly be, and it'll be fun reading about your transition to non-smoker.

I don't know how many times you tried to quit, but I tried plenty. I knew how hard (impossible) it was. So when I first started checking into e-cigs, I was a little skeptical. It took me about an hour after I bought my first mall-kiosk, over-priced POS to figure out that it could work for me. Now two and a half years later (after smoking for 40+ years,) I'm healthier, I'm happier, and I smell better.

To me, this is the finest invention of the 21st century. You're in for an awakening. :)

That will depend entirely on your vaping habits. It's very hard to predict for someone who hasn't started vaping yet. The Grand has a 6mL bottle and for most users, that will get them through the day.

Your nic level in the juice will have a lot to do with how much you feel you need to vape. If you are not getting enough nic you will have a tough time putting down your REO! Too much nic can cause some dizziness, or nausea if you vape too much. If you have the right amount of nic you should on average do about 2-3 mls a day. Chain vaping a REO is common though! It is best to not worry about how much juice you are using and just vape when you feel the need to vape! Don't try and not vape because you only smoked one cig and hour. It does not work that way. I tried that at first not knowing any better. It made it tougher than it needed to be. Once I just vaped when I felt like it and for as long as I wanted, then being off cigs was easy.

If you start off with around 30mls or more of juice you will be fine. Watch how much you are using and order a week before you will run out!

Fatherdano,

If you want to try a vape flavor that is similar to Marlboro lights, I suggest ordering unflavored nic in 24 mg strength 30% pg / 70% VG. The best place to order it is Wizard Labs.

It is very inexpensive too. I suggest starting with 60 ml (I think it's about $5 plus a couple of bucks for shipping from south Florida)

You just squirt it directly into your REO bottle and vape. I found that any tobacco flavor juice I tried tasted like perfume and was nasty.

This is all I use and it has kept me completely cig free for 5 months.

Best o luck to ya bro!
